The Idea: More On WWE’s Plan To Split Up Usos’ Tag Team Titles

There is a logic there. Titles mean quite a bit in wrestling as they can be quite the status symbol. Holding a title means a lot and can go a long way to elevate a wrestler. Every so often you see a wrestler holding more than once title at a time. That is taking place in WWE today, but now we might be seeing someone lose at least half of their gold, but with a good reason. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE Airs Awesome History Of Monday Night Raw Package According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning to split the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles, with the Usos losing one set of titles soon. WWE has announced upcoming title matches for either the Raw or SmackDown Tag Team Titles rather than both sets. The idea is to have the Usos lose one set of titles and keep the other, which will make future title matches more dramatic as they could lose again. WWE reportedly discussed the concept earlier this month. The Usos have been on an all time reign. Check out some of their t..

They Weren’t Happy: Sheamus Reveals Backstage Heat Over Major Career Milestone

He was the new guy. One of the most difficult things for a wrestling promotion to do is elevate new stars into the main event scene. It is something that has to be done every now and then though, no matter how tricky it might be. The right wrestler has to be found in order to make it work, but even then there could be some issues. Now we know how things went a bit off when a new star was elevated. During an appearance on Out Of Character with Ryan Satin, Sheamus talked about how he was received backstage after winning the WWE Title from John Cena at Tables, Ladders And Chairs 2009. Sheamus had only been on WWE TV for about five and a half months when he won the title and said that nobody was very excited over what happened. Instead, Sheamus had backstage heat from some of the wrestlers who had been around for years and never got that kind of opportunity. Sheamus has gone on to become a four time World Champion during his WWE career. Sheamus has done alright for himself in WWE. Check ..

New First Time Champion Crowned At NXT Halloween Havoc

That’s why they exist. Titles are some of the most important things in all of wrestling as you never know what you might get out of a title change. Someone winning a championship can be a game changer for their career and usually means that they are being elevated up the ladder. Now another title has changed hands and it could be the start of something big for the new champion. This weekend, NXT presented its annual Halloween Havoc event. The show featured a variety of title matches with a new champion being crowned. In the show’s opening match, Wes Lee won the vacant North American Title, defeating Oro Mensah, Von Wagner, Carmelo Hayes and Nathan Frazer in a ladder match. The title had been vacated when Solo Sikoa moved up to SmackDown. In addition, NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Champion Bron Breakker retained their titles. Opinion: That’s the kind of title change that could mean the start of something big for Lee. It was hard to see him lose his spot and push when his usu..

Injured WWE Star Explains Her Condition, How She Was Hurt

She’s banged up. There are all kinds of injuries that can happen to anyone in wrestling at any time. With so many possible options, you never know when someone is going to get hurt or how bad it is going to be. All you can do is wait around and see how severe things are, which will tell you just how long they are going to be out of action. Now we know a bit more about a current WWE star’s injury status. SmackDown star Aliyah has been out of action since September 12 due to an undisclosed injury. Aliyah has since offered an update on her Instagram page, saying that she suffered an elevated rib and an AC sprain in her most recent match. She did not give a time frame on her return to the ring. Aliyah was injured when she teamed with Raquel Rodriguez in a losing effort against Damage Ctrl, losing the Women’s Tag Team Titles in the process. WATCH: Here’s What Happened After WWE Summerslam Ended

There’s one more thing to do. Over the weekend, WWE presented its annual Summerslam show, which was certainly eventful. The show was the first major event following Vince McMahon’s retirement from the company, which meant that things were changing in a hurry. WWE needed to do something big for the show and that is what they did in the main event, though there was one more thing to do. The main event of Summerslam was a Last Man Standing match with Roman Reigns defending the WWE Universal Title against Brock Lesnar. During the match, Lesnar used a tractor to lift the ring up, which stayed off the ground throughout the rest of the show. After the show was over, Lesnar got back into the elevated ring to retrieve his cowboy hat, which earned an ovation from the crowd. It was a strange visual. Check out what Lesnar did after the show: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This might not have meant that much, but it served as a nice enough sendoff for Lesnar. The visual alone..

They Had A Plan: Several Details About Recent AEW Title Change, How It Was Set Up

It seemed to work. With so many wrestlers around today, it can be a little bit difficult to find time for everyone to make an impression. One of the easiest ways is to put people together in a team, but even then they have to be established in some way. This can be tricky to do as well, but AEW pulled it off this week. It turns out they had a pretty long term plan in mind. Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland won the AEW Tag Team Titles in the main event of this week’s edition of Dynamite. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the title change was a long term plan and the match was designed to elevate Lee/Strickland and Team Taz up to the next level. This came as the Hardys, Santana and Ortiz and Jurassic Express are all gone for the time being for various reasons. Strickland and Lee’s tension over the last few weeks was included as a way to continue teasing a possible breakup and make their win a surprise. Opinion: The best thing that can be said about the title change is that ..

Big E As WWE Champion: Why He Deserves A Real Main Event Run

Big E’s WWE Championship win on the September 13 edition of Monday Night Raw was met with overwhelming approval online. It’s not often that such an outpouring of affection and support is heaped on the shoulders of a pro wrestler. But in this case, it’s very fitting. Big E puts in the work, night in and night out. He always rises to the occasion and he does it while always looking like a main event powerhouse. Now he most definitely is one. Because of that, it’s time for WWE to run with the new champ and elevate him to the status he deserves. [This post contains video, click to play] New Day, New Champion Winning the title is just the first step. That seems a bit backwards and with good reason. After all, the notion of paying dues is a very real thing in the business. Very few talents arrive on the main roster and immediately achieve overnight success. Not everyone is Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar. However, that’s not to subtract from Big E as a worker in the ring. E has truly come in..

WWE Planning Brock Lesnar Passing Of The Torch WrestleMania Match

It would be a generational match. WWE is in a weird place at the moment as they are having to try and figure out a way to restock their shelves but continue to rely on their old guard in big spots. At some point WWE has to bring in someone new and those older stars could help elevate them in a hurry. That might be the case with a recent signing to the company. Last week, WWE officially signed Gable Steveson, an Olympic Gold Medal winning wrestler, to a contract with the company. According to F4WOnline.com, WWE is planning to have Steveson face Brock Lesnar in a special match at WrestleMania in a passing of the torch style moment. It is not clear when this will happen or when Steveson will be making his debut for the company. Steveson is scheduled to return to the University of Minnesota to defend his NCAA Heavyweight Championship next season. This has potential. Check out the two in action, plus Lesnar at WrestleMania: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains ..

NXT Takeover 36 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s weird to see NXT as the big closer for the weekend, as Rampage was big enough and then we had Summerslam for one of the most important shows of the year. That leaves us with Takeover: 36 and I’m really not feeling the card this time. It seems pretty clear that NXT as we know it is going to be going away, so this very well may be the big farewell for the current NXT. I’m not sure if that is the worst thing in the world either. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Ridge Holland vs. Trey Baxter This was added over the weekend and it can serve as the appetizer for the show. That is an appropriate description too, as Holland is likely to devour Baxter. The limited stuff I’ve seen from Baxter has been pretty good, but Holland seems ready to be elevated into a bigger star around here, meaning I’m pretty sure you can already figure out how the match is likely to go. The monster is back: [This post contains video, click to play] This should be a nearly complete squash for Holland, who needs ..

Fans Unhappy With Charlotte Receiving Another Title Shot

They don’t seem happy. Titles are one of the most valuable things that a wrestling show can have, as anyone who wins a championship is instantly elevated. WWE has all kinds of championships on their shows and some wrestlers have held them several times over. That can make things a little repetitive at times and that is what we are seeing again recently. It just is not sitting very well with some fans. Last weekend at Hell In A Cell, Raw Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley defended her title against Charlotte but lost the match via disqualification for using a piece of the announcers’ table. The following night on Monday Night Raw, Charlotte complained about the loss to Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce. As a result, Charlotte was given another title shot at Money In The Bank. Various fans have responded on Twitter, with several of them complaining that Charlotte, who has won ten singles titles on the main roster, is getting another title shot. The comments focus on Charlotte constantly being in..

RUMOR: SmackDown Star Possibly Heading To Raw For Major Push

Sometimes you need to shake it up. There are a lot of wrestlers wrestling in WWE today and that means there are going to be several of them not getting television time. It might be frustrating, but unfortunately it is how things work in the company today. One thing that can help them get a little more attention is to move around a bit, and that might be the case in the near future. According to WrestleVotes, WWE feels that Monday Night Raw needs some fresh faces. With Randy Orton and AJ Styles both in tag teams at the moment, the company needs some new people to have a chance. Two possibilities that have been discussed involve Damian Priest being elevated or Aleister Black being moved over from SmackDown to Monday Night Raw. It is not clear when these changes would begin. Priest made his main roster debut in January and has spent most of his time feuding with the Miz and John Morrison. Bad Bunny teamed with Priest to defeat Miz and Morrison at WrestleMania. Black is currently on Smac..

Get Your Names In Now. Rumored Names Eliminated From Running For Becky Lynch’s WrestleMania 36 Opponent.

It’s never too early to start planning ahead. We’re just over a month removed from WrestleMania 35 where Becky Lynch took over the women’s division by winning both Women’s Titles in a triple threat match. The win turned her into an even bigger star than she already was and all but guaranteed her a major spot at WrestleMania 36. So what might be in the cards for her? According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lynch is scheduled to have a big time match at WrestleMania 36, but her opponent has yet to be named. At this point, the opponent has not been named but it will NOT be Stephanie McMahon, Charlotte or Ronda Rousey, though if Rousey wants to come back and take the spot, it would be hers immediately. So this won’t be WrestleMania. Check out Lynch attacking McMahon as only she can make work: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That scares me about what WWE has left as options. Barring a legend coming in, it means that someone is going to have to be elevated in ..

Fastlane 2019 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

So here we are, with the show that has been treated as an afterthought to an afterthought and is now just being treated like a nothing show. There are a few things on the show that could be interesting, but WWE has been acting like Fastlane, as in the show they’re putting on, is just a nuisance that they’re required to cover. Just watch Raw and see how much effort they’ve put into it as compared to promoting Wrestlemania. Hopefully things pick up a little bit and the show winds up being fun. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade Well if you insists. This has been a great feud so far and one of the best things on SmackDown this year. These guys mesh very well together and this one can serve as the rubber match after their previous big blowoff officially went to a no contest because WWE doesn’t know the definition of a no contest. I’ll take Andrade to win here as he needs to be elevated a little bit more. Mysterio is already a legend and has been for about ten years n..

The champ vs. The face. WWE has posted a new video to their YouTube channel in which they show the full match between John Cena and AJ Styles for the WWE Championship from the 2017 Royal Rumble. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: It’s official! For years, it seemed inconceivable that any Superstar could approach Flair’s record, let alone match it. Year after year, however, The Champ continued his hard work and determination, relentless in his drive to elevate himself. And though he captured the United States Championship just 14 months ago, he hadn’t won a World Title since June 29, 2014. That perseverance, however, would pay hefty dividends at Royal Rumble in his pursuit of the WWE Championship. Editor..

Here’s When Becky Lynch Could Win the SmackDown Women’s Title

At Summerslam, Charlotte Flair won the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Becky Lynch also turned heel to set up a long rivalry between the two women. However, the WWE Universe has embraced Becky’s turn to elevate her as a babyface rather than be the heel turn WWE officials had planned. That’s forced the latter to change their plans. Related: Backstage News On How WWE Will Handle Becky Lynch And Charlotte’s Crowd Reactions WWE officials are allowing the fans to choose their favorites and the rivalry won’t have the tradition babyface/heel dynamic any longer. It’s undeniable that Becky is building a lot of momentum since Summerslam. There’s a unique opportunity to do something big with Lynch, so the big question is when should she win the SmackDown Women’s Title? According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the obvious choice for the title change would be WWE Evolution in October. In many ways, it’s predictable. It’s also fitting because WWE fans have made their point crystal clear to WWE offi..

Pete Dunne Talks Elevating The WWE United Kingdom Championship, His Surprise Appearance On RAW Last Year, And More

"The Bruiserweight" in less of a joint-manipulating mood. The current WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne was stabbed in the back recently by a man who he rolled through the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with, Roderick Strong. Prior to the events that transpired between the two at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, Dunne spoke with 'Inside The Ropes' and mentioned his then-partner Roderick Strong as being one of the reasons that he has been able to elevate the U.K. Championship. "Yeah its great. I see a lot of people asking about what are the rules, who can it be defended to. You know, much like the European Title back in the day, I think its great if anybody can wrestle for it especially when it’s the caliber of people like Gargano, people like Roddy, and the more we can do that and the more we can shed light on the U.K. Title and the U.K. division the better," Dunne continued, "And the more its going to elevate that title so when more U.K. talents does get the chance to wrestl..

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Monday Nitro Analysis, Cutting A Live Promo for the First Time, Old Guard vs. New Blood, More!

<p>On today’s show Russo and his co-host Jeff Lane will be discussing WCW’s Monday Nitro from April 10th, 2000.</p><p>Russo says that watching this show made him sad because it’s evident that he could work well and create some good television with Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett. This was the first episode of Monday Nitro that he co-wrote with Eric Bischoff, and he really wishes they could let bygones be bygones and move on with their lives without all of this bad <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/blood/" title="blood">blood</a></strong>.</p><p></p><p>Russo informs that he originally reached out to WCW after <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/vince-mcmahon" title="Vince McMahon">Vince McMahon</a></strong> told him to get a nanny to take care of his kids. Family was more important than that to Russo, so he inquired about work opportunities in WCW. Russo was hired in WCW as head writer, but he knew pretty <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/early/" title="early">early</a></strong> on that things were problematic there.</p><p>Bill Bush, an Accountant, was looking over WCW at that time for TNT and he knew nothing about professional wrestling. Russo and Ed Ferrara’s first goal when arriving in WCW was to elevate the mid card and introduce some new blood into the main event picture. The old guard of main eventers like Hulk Hogan and Sting were not happy about this, and they were quick to get in Bush’s ear.</p>

Drew McIntyre Says He Can Be The Top Guy

<p>Drew McIntyre recently spoke with <a href="http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other-sports/wrestling/drew-mcintyre-wwe-nxt-interview-10577115?service=responsive" rel="nofollow" target="new">The UK Mirror</a>. Here are some highlights from the interview:</p><p><strong>WWE Return</strong>: It’s been a crazy couple of months. I was basically the busiest independent wrestler in the world, travelling the world back and forth. I was under contract at the time [with IMPACT Wrestling] and I elected not to sign my new contract. I had to make the best decision for my future and my family’s future. I was very, very lucky after so many people believing in me and working my arse off that I was able to take a pick of where I was going to go. But my mind was made up, if I got the opportunity… William Regal is one of my mentors and I had been talking with him the whole time I have been away from WWE. He has been giving me advice, watching my matches, so that’s pretty much where it came up. I had a good conversation with <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/triple-h" title="Triple H">Triple H</a></strong> on the phone and as I say, my mind was made up where I wanted to go. NXT is the top roster in the world as far as I’m concerned, the work ethic and fans. Once I had that conversation my mind was beyond made up. That day when I showed up at the show was one of the wildest days of my life. I had a very busy day! I started at 8am, I had a signing, then a show in the afternoon, then a radio appearance, I had an additional signing, then showed up at the Evolve show at 8pm it started, I was out in the first segment, I believe I left the building at 8.20pm, drove straight to the Amway Center in Orlando, my wife was waiting with a suit at the back door. We ran in the back, I put the suit on, this was about 9pm, Orlando traffic so it took a while to get there, and I was sitting in my seat in front of 15,000 fans, and at not one point did I think to myself ‘I wonder how they’re going to react?’ until I sat in that seat, got my head down and thought ‘oh my God, I hope they remember me and have been following what I’ve been doing!’ When I showed up on camera and I saw and heard that reaction it was one of the best feelings in my life and I knew I had made the right decision.</p><p><strong>Competing For The WWE UK Title</strong>: Absolutely. An opportunity to wrestle those guys would be a privilege. They are so talented and so young, it’s amazing the difference in the scene now, that people have so much talent to work with and get so advanced, those guys like <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tyler-bate" title="Tyler Bate">Tyler Bate</a></strong> and Pete Dunne are just so unbelievably advanced for their age. I just had a match we taped for television just before the TakeOver, I was getting my gear off and watching it on my phone on the Network, and I stopped in my tracks as I was watching the match, sat in my underpants! I could not get changed, I just had to watch the entire match. I was blown away, I tweeted right away, ‘NXT UK TakeOver’ because I was shaking my head like ‘wow, when we first came over, there was nobody, just <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/sheamus" title="Sheamus">Sheamus</a></strong>, myself and Wade Barrett, there was nothing like this going on’. To watch the level of talent and that show-stealing performance just made me very proud of the lads and the UK scene in general.</p><p><strong>The Rise of Jinder Mahal</strong>: I made the loudest noise in the world backstage when he won that title! I think I almost punched the roof I jumped and punched the air so much. Just to watch his turnaround is the biggest thing for me. I remember about a year and a half ago having a conversation with him. The second I was gone from the WWE, as you know, I started to write my mission statement, I just kept going, there was nothing else I was going to do. I had a clear vision and thankfully it just came out. With Jinder he went out, he wasn’t too sure what he wanted to do, and he talked about this on Chris Jericho’s podcast so I’m not speaking out of turn. He got himself out of shape, not wrestling so much. He wasn’t really sure what to do and we had a conversation when he wasn’t too sure about his future and was talking about opening I think it was a Subway franchise he was leaning towards and he’s got a couple of houses and real estate. Wrestling was pretty much off the table. Then one day he made a decision, ‘no, I’m going to get back in shape’. He started taking it seriously again, got back in shape, got the call from WWE, continued his path, worked hard, gave up alcohol, made these positive changes in his life and just started working his arse off. To watch him go from that conversation when he was out of shape to where he is today, the most in-shape guy on the roster and one of the hardest working guys, I’m very proud of my brother for earning that. That was a big moment for him and I couldn’t be prouder of him.</p><p><strong>Being The Top Guy</strong>: I always have, 100%, I’ve never changed my opinion since I said that. He didn’t say the things he said for his health, he has done a lot with this business because of his eye for it. I wasn’t necessarily the guy he was looking for back then in a few different ways, but he certainly saw that raw talent and potential. I’ve been lucky that I’ve got myself through various opportunities and platforms and people believing in me, my wife helping in a lot of different areas, and growing up a lot, I’ve shown I am ready now to be a top guy, to hold that position for the company and show what it is to represent a giant, publicly traded company like WWE. There is so much more than just what you do in the ring and what you do on the microphone. As a kid I didn’t quite comprehend that, but now that’s something 100% I’m ready for. I’ve represented many people as the face of the company, proudly and I do it with joy and I do it with respect and make sure I elevate everywhere I go. I came to NXT to elevate it and I came back to WWE to fulfill the prophecy.</p>
