He is a mixture of power, amateur wrestling skills and natural athleticism that has probably never been rivaled in professional wrestling. It’s Been A Long Road: Legendary Tag Team Announces Farewell Tour
It’s been a ride. There is one thing that is true of all wrestlers: at some point, they are going to wrap up their careers. Sometimes this is just a detail at the end of a less than impactful career, but there are other wrestlers who get to ride off into the sunset after an all time run. That seems to be the case again, at least for what made a pair of wrestlers famous. Ricky Morton has announced that Rock N Roll Express will be holding their Farewell Tour beginning on January 22. There is no word on when the tour will end or when their final match as a team will take place. The team has been together since the late 1980s and have won titles around the world, including five reigns as the NWA World Tag Team Champions. Morton specified that he is not retiring from wrestling, but only from teaming with Robert Gibson as the Rock N Roll Express, citing a desire to work more behind the scenes and to team with his son. If nothing else, it allows them to try out different wrestlers in different spots and see what they can do with them. Interesting Reason For WWE Changing Summerslam Scheduling
It’s a different way to go. The big story in WWE at the moment is the return of fans to live events. This has allowed WWE to start moving things back to normal, which includes getting ready for some of their bigger shows of the year. One of those shows is Summerslam, which will be doing things a little bit differently this time. Now we know more about why. Earlier this week, WWE announced that this year’s Summerslam will air on Saturday, August 21, marking the first time the show has ever aired on a Saturday. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE made the move because the desired venue for the show, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, wanted the show on a Saturday. However, WWE made the announcement without mentioning a location. The biggest problem with the show being held in Las Vegas is a Manny Pacquiao boxing match being held in Las Vegas on the same night. The Rock’s “Titan Games” To Air At The Same Time As Raw
Vince McMahon might not be too happy with this. According to a report from Deadline, NBC is going to be airing the second season of it’s hit show “The Titan Games” at the same time as Raw each week. “The Titan Games” is hosted by former WWE superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Beginning on Monday, May 25, “The Titan Games” will premiere with a two-hour episode beginning at 8 PM ET/PT. Beginning June 1, the series will air weekly in its regularly scheduled 8-9 PM timeslot. From somewhere out there. Over the last few weeks, you have been able to throw the rule book out the window with everything wrestling related. The spread of the Coronavirus has caused so many changes that there are likely going to be more asterisks than wrestlers in the record books. It has made for some interesting moments though and we saw another one on Wednesday. There are very few things more important to a wrestling show than commentary. The broadcast team serves in a variety of roles, including guiding the audience in the desired direction and telling them where the story is supposed to go. Calling the action is important too, as giving fans someone they are familiar with and can trust goes a long way. The long way part was in play this week, albeit in a very different way. You don’t hear this very often. Wrestling is a very unique industry, but at the same time it does have a lot of similarities to more traditional ones. Something you get in a lot of jobs is the desire to be praised by your peers. These are the people who do the same thing you do so hearing them say you’ve done something well is a nice feeling. That’s a big negative. If there is one thing that I have learned in wrestling over the last few years it is to never say never. It seems that almost every few months, we see something happening that did not seem possible shortly before and that continues to be the case. It may be someone returning from injury or a match you didn’t think was possible, but it keeps happening. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case here. Back in 2014, CM Punk walked out on the WWE, citing burnout and a series of injuries among other things. There are a lot of titles in WWE and therefore there are a lot of champions that go with them.
