This is reportedly 37% higher than the market value of $6.5 billion. Next Stop: Two Elimination Chamber Matches With Major Stakes Set

They’re set. The Royal Rumble has come and gone for the year and that means it is time to start getting ready for the rest of the Road To WrestleMania. While the biggest show on the way there is all taken care of, there is still one more big show that needs to be covered. In this case, it is another show with two of its namesake matches taking place on the card. Now we already know a good portion of the lineup. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Former WWE Women’s Champion Returns To Television On February 18, WWE will present its annual Elimination Chamber event, with two Elimination Chamber matches already announced. First up, United States Champion Austin Theory will defend against Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed and Johnny Gargano, plus two more challengers who will qualify next week on Monday Night Raw. The other match will be for the Raw Women’s Title match at WrestleMania 39, with Liv Morgan, Nikki Cross, Asuka, Raquel Rodriguez and two more competitors competing. No other matches have been an..

AEW Honors Jay Briscoe In Dynamite’s Main Event

They will always be Dem Boys. Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a tribute to Jay Briscoe, as his brother Mark, made his AEW debut against their longtime friend and rival, Jay Lethal. This tribute match came just over a week after Jay Briscoe passed away in a car accident at the age of 38. Ironically, the show also happened to be taking place on what would have been Jay’s 39th birthday. The finish of the match came when Mark Briscoe connected with The Froggy Bow through the timekeeper’s table. He then rolled Lethal into the ring, and after a series of maneuvers, Briscoe planted Lethal with The Jay Driller to pick up the victory. Following the match, the entire AEW locker room came on stage and gave a round of applause to both competitors. Several of them also hugged Lethal as he came up to the top of the entrance ramp. You can see a couple of videos of the tribute below: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Editor’s Opinio..

WATCH: WWE Teases Huge Money In The Bank Twist

That would be a different way to go. There are a lot of different concepts that WWE presents on a regular basis, some of which have major championship implications. It can mean something big is taking place when one of them is mentioned and sometimes these things are announced in advance. Now we have gotten a big clue about something going in a different way. The closing segment of this week’s NXT featured a three way discussion between the competitors in the Halloween Havoc triple threat match for the NXT Title. At the end of the show, Mr. Money In The Bank Austin Theory, from Monday Night Raw, appeared and suggested that he could cash in his contract for the NXT Title. Theory has held the briefcase since July 2 when he won the Money In The Bank briefcase. This could make things interesting. Check out the big tease: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: In a way, this might be the best thing that could happen to Theory and his briefcase. It has been a long time since..

AEW Star Hints At Wanting To Leave Company (And He Might!)

Out the door? The AEW roster is comprised of all kinds of talented wrestlers, some of whom are well known names who have been around the world for several years now. Those are the stars that AEW will often present for the sake of expanding to as big of an audience as possible. That is not going to work forever though and now a star is hinting that he wants out of the company. Last week on AEW Rampage, Andrade El Idolo challenged 10 of the Dark Order to a mask vs. career match on this week’s show. After the announcement, El Idolo’s manager Jose The Assistant sent out a tweet thanking him for everything in AEW. Later, a fan tweeted to El Idolo that he hoped 10 won the match, with which El Idolo agreed. This comes amid rumors of El Idolo being unhappy in AEW and wanting to leave, though there is nothing to suggest he will be moving on from the company. You are one of the best in ring competitors, I learned a great amount working alongside you. You brought me to #AEW and I stand by your ..

Antonio Inoki Passes Away At Age 79

We have some sad news to report as WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Antonio Inoki has passed away at age 79. From WWE.com: One of the key figures in the history of Japanese wrestling, Antonio Inoki was among the most respected men in sports entertainment and a bona fide legend in his homeland. Born in Yokohama, Japan in 1943, Inoki grew into a natural in-ring competitor. The incredible squared circle figure found his greatest success in New Japan Pro Wrestling, a promotion he founded in 1972. Over the course of the next two decades, Inoki built NJPW into the most successful wrestling company in Asia. Utilizing talented Japanese competitors like Tatsumi Fujinami and Riki Choshu, innovative high-flyers like Tiger Mask and Dynamite Kid, and American Superstars like Bob Backlund and Vader, the young promoter created a product that was unique, influential, and far ahead of its time. In addition to running the company, Inoki himself was one of the top stars in NJPW, carrying the cha..

WATCH: Mick Foley Releases Mr. In Your House Music Video (Hilarious)

It suits him. There are certain wrestlers who are associated with certain events. Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are most famous for their Wrestlemania performances. Randy Orton has had some incredible success at Survivor Series. Roman Reigns and Steve Austin are perhaps the best Royal Rumble competitors ever. Those are some of the biggest shows of the year, but what about the lower level ones? Mick Foley has released a music video entitled Mr. In Your House, celebrating his success at the series of WWF pay per views which were considered the more minor shows the company produced in the 1990s. Foley has referenced this moniker over the years, saying that “no one came through more when it mattered less”. Foley released the video as part of his Foley Is Pod series. I think this speaks for itself. Check out Foley’s efforts: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Well that made my day. Foley is one of the most creative and entertaining wrestlers throughout history and a lot..

Polish Them Up: WWE Announces Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament

They’re back. There are a lot of titles under the WWE banner and some of them are specifically for one set of wrestlers. Those titles often have smaller fields of competitors, which means things can be a bit tighter when it comes to challenging for a championship. It is going to be the case again soon, as WWE is going to be crowning a new set of champions in the near future. It was announced on this week’s SmackDown that a tournament would begin next week on Monday Night Raw to crown new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. There were no details on the tournament, including the participants, number of teams or when the finals would be held. Sasha Banks and Naomi vacated the titles when they walked out on WWE back in May, with a tournament being promised shortly thereafter. Opinion: This surprises me a bit as the titles had not been mentioned in several months. I don’t know if the women’s division has the depth to support the titles but if more women are being brought in, it could work out..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – June 20, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: June 20, 2022 Location: Pinnacle Bank Arena, Lincoln, Nebraska Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We are less than two weeks away from Money in the Bank and that means we are probably in for some qualifying matches. Those can make for some interesting showdowns, though I’m not sure I would get my hopes up for that around here. On top of that, Riddle gets to deal with the fallout of losing to Roman Reigns on Smackdown. Let’s get to it. In Memory Of Tim White. Here is Bianca Belair for a chat. After getting in her catchphrases, she says that the match with Rhea Ripley isn’t happening….for now. So who gets the title shot at Money in the Bank instead? Tonight we have five women competing, in the form of Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Asuka and Becky Lynch, in a fatal five way match to see who gets the shot. All five competitors come out one by one to say they should get the title shot while also taking shots at each other. Belair says she is..

More Details On Brock Lesnar’s WWE Return And Original Summerslam Plans

They had an idea. WWE is in a bit of a weird place when it comes to top stars. Roman Reigns has dominated the company for the better part of two years now and there is nothing to suggest that he has more than one or two serious competitors. WWE might have started to remedy that this week, though it turns out that it was not their original choice for the spot. The big surprise ending to this week’s SmackDown saw the return of Brock Lesnar, who attacked Reigns to end the show, setting up their Summerslam main event. According to Fightful Select, Lesnar was brought in as a replacement for Randy Orton, once it was clear that Orton would not be able to wrestle at Summerslam due to his back injury. Lesnar being brought in had nothing to do with the Vince McMahon investigation this week. Opinion: This isn’t the most surprising thing, but it does say a lot that WWE is so shallow at the top of the card that their options are either Orton or breaking the Lesnar glass. How can they not have any..

RUMOR: WWE Not Unifying Tag Team Titles

This is a rumor so take it for what it’s worth. According to a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is now changing its current storyline and is not planning to unify the tag team championships. Before Wrestlemania Backlash, the company was planning to have a tag team championship unification match between RK-Bro and The Usos. However, those plans were changed, and a 6-man match between RK-Bro & Drew McIntyre and The Bloodline took place. The plan is still for the two teams to have a match, perhaps as early as Hell in a Cell in June, but for each team to continue holding its tag team championship. Editor’s Opinion: As with everything that involves the future, I will believe it when I see it. However, I can see why WWE would not want to unify the Tag Team titles, as there are a lot of superstars on both raw and SmackDown who are not doing a lot right now. Having multiple tag team championships allows more storylines and more competitors to be featured on televis..

Raquel Gonzalez Has A New Name On Smackdown

The callups continue. This week’s episode of Smackdown featured a number of returns and call-ups from NXT, including Gunther and Marcel Barthel, now known as Ludwig Kaiser. Raquel Gonzalez also made her debut this week, but this is not the name that she will be going by. Introduced in a backstage segment with Los Lotharios, Gonzalez will now be known as Raquel Rodriguez on the blue brand. You can see her debut below: [This post contains video, click to play] Dakota Kai recently reunited with Gonzalez on NXT 2.0 and recently defeated Toxic Attraction members Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship during the Kickoff pre-show of NXT Stand & Deliver. However, in their first title defense on the following episode of NXT 2.0, Kai and Gonzalez lost the titles back to Toxic Attraction due to Mandy Rose’s interference. Editor’s Opinion: This is awesome. I’ve always thought that she was one of the top female competitors in all of WWE and now gets her opportunit..

“Serious” Injury Takes Place At AEW Revolution

You never want to see what. There are all kinds of matches in wrestling and some of them can be incredibly dangerous. While a wrestler can be hurt in any kind of match, there are certain matches that crank up the risk even higher. That can lead to a variety of injuries and now it seems that one such match might have led to an injury that could put a star on the shelf. Last weekend’s AEW Revolution pay per view included the Face of the Revolution ladder match, which included six competitors. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Orange Cassidy suffered a shoulder injury when he was tossed over the ring and landed on a pile of wrestlers. There is no word on the severity of his injury or how long he might be out of action as a result, though he was described as the only “serious” injury of the night. Opinion: That is never good to hear and hopefully Cassidy’s injury is nothing serious and he will be back in action sooner rather than later. A match like that is going to have all kinds o..

VIDEO: WWE Stars Want Changes To Survivor Series Format

She might be on to something. We are on the way to Survivor Series and this time around will be similar to the previous years. This year’s show will be focused on the idea of a battle for brand supremacy between Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, which might not be lighting the world on fire at the moment. It turns out that one prominent WWE star is not exactly thrilled with the idea either. During a new interview with Vincente Beltran, Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch said that she felt the idea of battling for brand supremacy is “a little outdated”. Lynch went on to say that all WWE wrestlers are competitors and therefore want to compete for some kind of a prize. There is no word on WWE changing the concept, though Lynch is not alone with this line of thinking. SmackDown’s Xavier Woods also suggested that the winning team’s brand received the final five spots in the Royal Rumble match. It was an interesting interview. Check out what Lynch and Woods had to say, plus what brand supremac..

Karrion Kross Vs. Samoa Joe: Getting The Attention It Deserves?

Karrion Kross and Samoa Joe will go to war for the NXT Championship at TakeOver 36 on Sunday, August 22. The two men have been on a path of destruction over the past few weeks and that path will lead them to a chaotic confrontation in NXT. Many fans are excited for this match and with good reason. Kross and Joe are hard-hitting smash-mouth competitors and they are sure to bring the pain at TakeOver. But is this bout truly receiving the attention it deserves? Joe versus Everyone In any other era, this match would be the talk of the pro wrestling world. While it’s not a WWE main roster match or a pay-per-view spectacle, it’s a big deal nonetheless. Much of that is thanks to Samoa Joe, the rugged veteran who’s still grinding in the ring. For over 21 years, Samoa Joe has been building his powerhouse pro wrestling resume. He’s faced some of the industry’s biggest names and he’s always held his own in the ring. Kurt Angle, AJ Styles and CM Punk are just three of the top stars who battled ..

WWE Changes Its 2021 Summer Pay-Per-View Schedule

Sometimes change can send you to hell. Money in the Bank is typically the pay-per-view event that we see in June, in which competitors attempt to climb a ladder and retrieve a briefcase that guarantees them a shot at a world title. However, that will not be the case this year. Tonight at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view event, WWE aired a promo announcing that their next event will in fact be Hell in a Cell, which will stream exclusively on Peacock on Sunday, June 20. This was originally when Money in the Bank would have aired. Check out the promo video for the show: [This post contains video, click to play] It is unknown the reason for the change or when Money in the Bank will now be held. Editor’s Opinion: The more that I think about this, the more it makes sense. Money in the Bank is an event that needs to be held in front of fans and with the CDC updating their guidelines, this may happen sooner than we think. Plus, with the results of the main event of WrestleMania Ba..

Update: Mickie James Not Injured; Referee Botched The Finish?

The story continues. One of the more confusing moments of Raw last night was the sudden finish to the match between Mickie James and Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship. The two competitors appeared to be in a submission spot, when the referee stopped the match saying that James couldn’t continue. It had been previously reported that James suffered an injury during the match and as a result, the referee made the decision to stop the match midway through. However, this may not actually be the case. According to Brian Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, multiple sources are saying the referee simply botched the finish and that Mickie is not injured. It is believed that the referee thought she was hurt, so he called the match, but he was just wrong and it was too late to go back on the call. Check out some action from last night: We will continue to monitor this story and provide any updates as they become available to us. Editor’s Opinion: I was very confused while watching th..

WATCH: AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura From Money within the Bank 2018

When amazing competitors compete, it’s a special thing. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full Last Man Standing Match between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship from Money in the Bank 2018. You can see the match in its entirety below: From WWE.com: The weeks leading up to the bout had seen Nakamura take up rent-free residence in Styles’ head; each of his sinister eccentricities was enough to send The Phenomenal One flying into a fury. So, it was natural that Styles came out swinging, though he ended up expending so much energy that Nakamura was able to turn it around and notch some early counts from the ref. The King of Strong Style was also the first to lean into the more extreme elements of the match, taking the fight outside of the ring each opportunity he had. Speculation had focused on how far Styles was willing to go to retain his title; for a while, it seemed like the more pertinent question might have been how m..
