Sasha Banks is currently set to debut with New Japan Pro Wrestling at the January 4 Wrestle Kingdom 17 event. A report earlier this week said that she would be making $100,000 per appearance, which was said to be more than Chris Jericho made for his appearances with the company. Jericho has since responded to the rumor, saying that he never had a flat appearance deal and was paid according to the event. Tis the season. Wrestling is about having fun and entertaining the fans in one way or another. There are multiple ways to do just that and some of them are a lot goofier than others. He opened some eyes. There are a lot of talented wrestlers throughout the world and it can be a lot of fun to see someone pop up out of nowhere and become a star on the big stage. It opens up a new door and offers a variety of fresh matches for a bunch of people. That is the case with a new star in AEW but he has a few changes coming up and they could lead to something even bigger down the line. Konosuke Takeshita made his AEW debut on the April 25 edition of AEW Dark: Elevation and has since moved on to face various top AEW stars. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Takeshita is currently on excursion from DDT-Pro in Japan for one year and is currently living in the United States. AEW and DDT-Pro have a good relationship though and Takeshita would be allowed back at any time. It’s a different way to go. There are a lot of ways to present wrestling and some of them are not quite as traditional as others. While the most common way is to have wrestlers either in a ring or with a microphone, times have changed a bit and there are other places to see what they can do. That is the case again with a new game show, and now we have a bit of a sneak peak. Earlier this year, G4 announced that they were collaborating with WWE on a new monthly game show called The Arena. The series will be hosted by WWE’s Xavier Woods and G4’s Gina Darling and will feature WWE stars, professional athletes, games, streamers and more competing in challenges and pranks. These matches are among the biggest that WWE presents all year with some of the more prominent names in the company competing for a guaranteed on-demand shot at the World Title. Now we know some more names who will be getting their shot. This week’s SmackDown saw three more names added to the Money In The Bank ladder match fields. First, both Sheamus and Drew McIntyre were added to the men’s match. This is the result of a decision by WWE management after last week’s qualifying match ended in a double disqualification. Later in the show, Raquel Rodriguez defeated Shayna Baszler to qualify for the women’s match. Those are some very lucrative and appealing possibilities, but it seems there are some people not interested in competing. According to Fightful Select, Jessie McKay and Cassie Lee, formerly known as Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, turned down offers to return for the Royal Rumble. The team, who wrestled in WWE as the IIconics, were released from the company last year and have since moved to Impact Wrestling, where they are the Knockouts Tag Team Champions. McKay and Lee felt that it was not time for such a return and are happy where they are. Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James will be appearing in the match. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured the first round of the RKBronament, a four team tag team tournament to crown new #1 contenders. There’s your shot across the bow. AEW and WWE are the two biggest and most powerful wrestling companies in the United States, if not the world. They have been competing against each other for the last few years now, occasionally with one company taking a not so veiled shot at the other from time to time. That was the case again this week, and it was a rather fast turnaround. Earlier this week, WWE released 18 wrestlers from the company in its latest round of roster cuts. This week on AEW Rampage, Max Caster rapped his way to the ring, including a line saying that Bryan Danielson’s father in law ended several careers. Danielson’s father in law is John Laurinaitis, the WWE Head of Talent Relations, who sent out the email announcing that the wrestlers had been released. That was a bit harsh. Welcome to your new home. There have been several roster changes for WWE over the last year and a half, with several long time wrestlers moving on from the company. That can make for some interesting moments for other rosters, as you do not know where some of these wrestlers are going to wind up. It can be quite the moment when you see them show up elsewhere, and now another former WWE star has made a big appearance. Samuray del Sol, formerly known as Kalisto in WWE, made his AEW debut during this week’s addition of Dynamite. Del Sol teamed with Aerostar to challenge FTR for the AAA Tag Team Titles in a losing effort. Del Sol was released from WWE on April 15 of this year and has not wrestled since competing in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on April 1. It does kind of fit. There are very few forms of entertainment like professional wrestling. You have all of the different emotions that go into a show, but ultimately it is a bunch of muscular people in ridiculous outfits fighting each other in an over the top contest. That can make for some interesting moments, and now the biggest promotion in the world is branching out into something similar. According to Dateline, WWE is partnering with MGM to relaunch American Gladiators, with a variety of WWE stars appearing on the show. The series a competition style show featuring a roster of athletes competing against contestants in athletic events, originally aired from 1989 – 1996 and was relaunched in 2008, with Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali as hosts.
