Legends Rise? Update On WrestleMania Status Of The Rock And Steve Austin

Maybe next time. There are certain stars in wrestling who have become legends in their own time. Since it is wrestling, there is always the chance that they might come back to the ring later, even at the age that most mainstream athletes would long since have retired. There was a hope that some legends would be back in the ring later this year, but that does not seem likely. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s In: Update On WWE’s Plans For Sami Zayn Going Forward Wrestling Observer Radio has updates on Steve Austin and the Rock’s WrestleMania 39 statuses. Austin will not be wrestling on the show, despite reportedly being offered matches with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. There is still the chance that Austin will appear at the show in some capacity, but he is not expected to be wrestling. The situation is about the same for the Rock, who is not expected to wrestle at the event, but could appear. Rock has apparently left the door open for a match at WrestleMania 40 in 2024. They have done t..

Impact Wrestling Results – January 5, 2023

Impact Wrestling Date: January 5, 2023 Location: Charles F. Dodge City Center, Pembroke Pines, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We’re back after last week’s Best Of 2022 event with the first show of 2023. That means we are just over a week away from Hard To Kill and the card is mostly set. There is always room for a little more effort though and now we might be getting to do just that. If nothing else, getting some of the lower card built up should help so let’s get to it. In Memory Of Don West. Opening recap. Masha Slamovich vs. Taylor Wilde Deonna Purrazzo is on commentary. Wilde is in all black and apparently has a new attitude, as seen on Before The Impact. Purrazzo doesn’t think much of Wilde’s resume, asking how long it has been since Wilde was a champion. Fair enough really, as it was a long time ago. They grapple to the mat to start with Slamovich spinning out of a wristlock into an armbar. Wilde avoids a charge in the corner though and some choking has..

The Next Big Thing: Triple H Reveals Brock Lesnar Is Selling Meat

Eat it before he eats you. Wrestlers can do a lot of things and some of them have nothing to do with what goes on in the ring. Sometimes you hear about them doing something outside of wrestling, possibly using their celebrity status to get the word out a bit easier. That is apparently the case with a top WWE star, even if you have never heard of them before. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Danger Of War: Bloodline Member Possibly Injured During WarGames Triple H recently appeared on Snack Wars, where he mentioned being a fan of beef jerky. As an aside, Triple H mentioned that Brock Lesnar has his own line of beef jerky, which is called “Bearded Butcher Brock Lesnar Beef Bites” which are sold on Bearded Butchers’ online store, though as of this writing, they are out of stock. Lesnar has never mentioned the product on WWE TV. It is not clear when Lesnar will return to WWE. Lesnar can do a lot of things outside of the beef jerky business. Check out his dominance of WWE: [This post contains vid..

Here’s What Tony Khan Had Planned for Saraya if She Wasn’t Cleared to Wrestle

For the first time in five years, Saraya will finally make her in-ring return to the squared circle. She will wrestle Britt Baker in her return bout, which has been highly featured as one of the top feuds heading into tonight’s AEW Full Gear. It’s very exciting for the AEW fans and for Saraya herself to have the opportunity to perform after a five year absence. There hasn’t been any word on her training or how much she’s been in the ring over the past few months. AEW only just released the news that she was medically cleared to compete at Full Gear this past week. Tony Khan, who participated in the standard conference call before Full Gear, apparently didn’t have any concerns about Saraya being physically capable of performing in the ring when she signed with the company. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confimed the following via Twitter about what plans were in place for Saraya if she couldn’t actually wrestle: Tony Khan tells me that @Saraya was confident she would get cleared and felt..

That Explains It: Backstage Reason For Awkward SmackDown Spot

It didn’t work so well. Wrestlers have a very difficult job to do as they have quite a few things to do every time they go to the ring. At the same time, they are doing these things in front of a live audience with no replays. Sometimes a mistake will take place and unfortunately some of them can be seen rather clearly. Now we know what likely caused a recent one. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Two WWE Stars Pay Off A World Series Bet In Hilarious Fashion This week on SmackDown, Shotzi won a Six Pack Challenge to become the new #1 contender to the SmackDown Women’s Title. During the match, Liv Morgan dove at Raquel Rodriguez in an attempt to drive her through a table, but the dive was left short and the table was barely grazed. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this was the result of miscommunication, as the original spot called for the table to be in a different place. Morgan apparently was not told about the change, resulting in her leaving the dive short by mistake. There is n..

KB’s Review: Yeah Not A Fan

So I had started another column this week but it wasn’t something I could really get behind. Given that it was about a tag team comprised of Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore in late 2007, there was only so much that I was going to be able to get out of it. I needed something else to talk about and then I saw something that caught my eye, but not in the best of ways. Last week, a fan complained about AEW only having one women’s match/segment. Dave Meltzer responded, asking if they were going to watch the pay per view tonight. What pay per view you ask? Well that would be a Stardom pay per view from Japan, which the fellow commenters pointed out over and over. They also pointed out that apparently the original fan, who said he cared about women’s wrestling, wasn’t a real fan because he didn’t know about Stardom. This is the kind of thing that drives me absolutely nuts as a fan because it is the most condescending, rude and flat out obnoxious kind of take that you can have. Rather than..

NXT Star Appearing In Upcoming Film To Continue Acting Career

It’s something else. Wrestlers have a weird relationship with acting. There have been some success stories over the years, but one of the most common criticisms is that while wrestlers act in the ring, they are only wrestlers when they try acting on screen. That does not stop them from trying though and now another WWE star might have done something to get his foot in the acting door. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT’s Sanga will appear in the upcoming Bollywood film Brahmastra Part One: Shiva. The film, which will be released on September 9, will be Sanga’s first film after he appeared in a television show from 2013-2014. WWE has made no mention of his part in the film. Sanga most recently wrestled on the July 12 edition of NXT where he defeated Duke Hudson. Opinion: The more I see of Sanga, the more I like him, as he has a unique look and is someone who gets your attention no matter what he is doing. His in-ring work is good enough, but apparently someone else se..

AEW Dynamite Results – August 3, 2022

Dynamite Date: August 3, 2022 Location: Schottenstein Center, Columbus, Ohio Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Taz We’re rapidly coming up on All Out but first we need to get through this weekend’s Battle Of The Belts, which is apparently a thing that is happening. So far there is one match announced and that means we will probably get the rest of the card announced. Whether that is in rapid fire or with more traditional announcements remains to be seen, but Excalibur is probably warming up his throat. Let’s get to it. Jay Lethal vs. Orange Cassidy Cassidy rolls him up to start and knocks Lethal up the ramp, setting up the lazy kicks. Lethal crawls away but it’s Satnam Singh waiting at the top of the ramp. Cue the Best Friends, with Trent on Taylor’s shoulders, to be taller than Singh, who leaves for no logical reason. With that HILARIOUS visual gag out of the way, we get back in and Cassidy hits a high crossbody but the tornado DDT is countered into a dragon screw legwhip. Ca..

UPDATE: Monday Night Raw May Not Be Going TV-14 So Soon

Not so fast. WWE has been around for a very long time and the company’s history can be broken up into various sections. Some of these are a lot more well defined than others, but there are some that are among the most popular and successful times the company has ever had. This week, a story broke suggesting that we might be moving a bit back towards one of those eras, but that may have been jumping the gun. On Thursday, Andrew Zarian reported that a USA Network memo announced that Monday Night Raw would be rated TV-14 again starting on July 18. However, Zarian has since updated the story, saying that while the memo was correct, it was sent out early, meaning that the date of the TV-14 rating is currently up in the air. Fightful Select is reporting that Zarian’s update is accurate. There is no word on what kind of content a TV-14 show would contain. There was a memo within USA Network that went out this morning regarding WWE Raw changing to TV-14 on July 18th.Apparently that was sent ..

Vince McMahon Paid Millions In Hush Money To Multiple Women

It had been reported that Vince McMahon paid $3 million to a WWE employee due to a sexual relationship between the two. The company’s Board of Directors was investigating it, but apparently, the scandal didn’t end there. According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal and iHeart, McMahon paid more than $12 million in hush money to four women during the past 16 years to suppress sexual misconduct and infidelity allegations. The report states that all four women were affiliated with WWE and signed agreements with McMahon prohibiting them from publicly discussing possible legal claims or their relationship with him. Sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed this to the Journal. The new reported settlements include McMahon paying $7.5 million to a former WWE wrestler who claimed McMahon coerced her into giving him oral sex and then demoted her before ultimately deciding not to renew her contract after she resisted other sexual encounters, sources familiar with the situati..

Money In The Bank 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s time to climb. We have reached another of WWE’s major pay per view events and this time it is mostly going to be about becoming something close to #1 contender. As usual, there is a men’s and women’s version, both of which should have quite the collection of major spots. These shows tend to be a lot of fun, even if the build could use some work. Let’s get to it. Smackdown Women’s Title: Ronda Rousey(c) vs. Natalya Let’s get this one out of the way before it puts me to sleep. This hasn’t been an interesting feud as Natalya is by definition not interesting. Rousey hasn’t been much better, but WWE has been trying to turn Natalya into something bigger than she is and it hasn’t quite been working. That is what they are trying to do again here though, apparently due to Sasha Banks’ latest meltdown. Of course I’ll go with Rousey winning here, as the story of “I ALMOST made her tap to the Sharpshooter in a non-match” isn’t enough to sway me to the Natalya side. I’m sure the match itself..

Switch: Here’s What Finn Balor Turning On Edge Means Behind The Scenes In WWE

He’s on the other side. There are a lot of different ways to present a wrestler but ultimately it boils down to them being good or evil. While you can have varying degrees either way, what matters most is that someone is on one side or the other. It can mean a lot when someone changes sides, and that apparently was the case this week, even if it wasn’t all that clear. This week on Monday Night Raw, Finn Balor joined Edge’s Judgment Day stable, only to immediately turn on Edge and have the team beat him down. According to PWInsider.com, following the turn, Edge is now officially considered a babyface backstage in WWE. There is no word on when he will be back in the ring following the attack or who he will be facing first. Opinion: This absolutely feels like a quick change to balance out the loss of Cody Rhodes and that is not a bad idea. Edge is someone the fans will cheer no matter what so letting him feud with people like Balor and Damian Priest is a good idea. If nothing else, Edge..

RUMOR: Problems Between Kota Ibushi and NJPW

This is only a rumor, so take it for its worth. According to Brian Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio, some further drama is taking place between Kota Ibushi and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Apparently, Ibushi is not happy with NJPW as he feels the company is trying to get him back in the ring before he is fully healed. Ibushi suffered a shoulder injury after taking a hard landing during his G1 Climax finals match against Kazuchika Okada in October 2021. Ibushi was initially planned to participate in this year’s New Japan Cup. He was pulled from the tournament as he wasn’t ready to return to action. This adds to the potentially current drama, as he recently posted a series of cryptic tweets in Japanese. This left many foreign fans confused, due to mistranslations, as some shocking terms were seen through the translation tool on Twitter, such as “sexually harassing bosses.” Ibushi signed a “lifetime contract” with NJPW back in 2019. [h/t to SEScoops] Editor’s Opinion: While rushing h..

Big E Provides Update On His Neck Injury

That’s not great. Big E has taken to Twitter to provide an update on the neck injury that he sustained a couple of months ago. He tweeted out the following: For those desirous of an update, my C1 apparently isn’t healing optimally. I’ll spend another 4-6 weeks in a brace in hopes that I can avoid a fusion. But don’t you fret! I’ve got a tremendous support system & what shall be shall be. For those desirous of an update, my C1 apparently isn’t healing optimally. I’ll spend another 4-6 weeks in a brace in hopes that I can avoid a fusion. But don’t you fret! I’ve got a tremendous support system & what shall be shall be. — Ettore “Big E” Ewen (@WWEBigE) May 6, 2022 Big E was injured on the March 11, 2022 episode of Smackdown. He, along with Kofi Kingston were in a match with Sheamus and Ridge Holland, when a miscue on a throw from Holland caused E to land on his neck. He had to be stretchered out of the arena and has not been on television since. We will continue to monitor the situa..

WWE Reportedly No Longer Testing For Marijuana

That’s something specific. The WWE has come a long way when it comes to its drug testing policies. The company does not have the best history in regards to taking care of its wrestlers but the last several years have seen a much strong emphasis on the situation. However, one change has taken place recently as the company seems to be lightening up on a specific area. According to Fightful Select, WWE has not suspended or fined wrestlers for positive marijuana tests in years. WWE’s official drug policy on its website states that wrestlers will be fined $2,500 for a positive test, though WWE is apparently not enforcing this part of the policy. A WWE higher up said that he hasn’t heard as much as gossip about marijuana in years, let alone a fine being levied. There is nothing to suggest that any other parts of the policy have been relaxed. Opinion: This shouldn’t be a surprise and it is kind of hard to argue against the policy being lightened up. At the end of the day, there are states i..

He’s It: That Time When Vince McMahon Played Hide And Seek With A WWE Star

He’s one of a kind (thank goodness). There is no one in wrestling like WWE owner Vince McMahon and there never will be again. In addition to being the most powerful person in the history of the industry, McMahon is also downright bizarre at times and some of the stories about him are among the most interesting you’ll ever hear in wrestling. That is the case again, as McMahon apparently liked playing a game with at least one wrestler. During an interview with Fightful, former WWE star Big Damo (Killian Dain) told a story about McMahon playing hide and seek at an arena with Alexander Wolfe. There is no word on when or where this took place, or if it is something that McMahon did often. Damo said that while he never saw McMahon get physical with anyone, he did once pull Damo in off of a handshake to say something to him, with McMahon’s strength impressing him. Opinion: It this surprising at all? The fact that McMahon once played a game of hide and seek with another wrestler is not exact..

Turnaround: Surprise Title Change Takes Place On NXT

Fast turnaround. We are done with the biggest wrestling weekend of the year and a lot went down. There were major matches, several showdowns and big moments that changed the way a lot of stories go. This included a variety of title changes, some of which might not have been the biggest surprises. What was a surprise was having the title change back almost immediately. The Kickoff Show match for Saturday’s NXT Stand & Deliver saw Dakota Kai/Raquel Gonzalez take the Women’s Tag Team Titles from Toxic Attraction. However, Toxic Attraction took the titles back from Kai and Gonzalez this week on NXT, ending their reign at three days. This is actually longer than Kai and Gonzalez’s first reign as champions, as they lost the titles the night they were awarded them in March 2021. Opinion: I’m not sure I get this, as the title change felt lik the whole picture was changing. Apparently that is not the case though and now we have things right back where they were on Saturday morning. In theory ..

WATCH: Finn Balor Explains His Recent WWE Absence

It’s a good excuse. WWE has a rather diverse roster with wrestlers from all over the world. That can make for some interesting matchups as you can see different styles coming together to face off on some rather big stages. There are some setbacks to having so many international wrestlers though, which apparently was the case with one such star a few months ago. During a new interview with BT Sports, WWE United States Champion Finn Balor revealed that he missed a significant amount of time in January, including the Royal Rumble, due to visa issues. Balor’s visa was expiring and he had to return to Ireland to get it renewed, which resulted in him not having a match from January 17 until February 21. The renewed visa will keep him in good standing for the next ten years. He would know best. Check out Balor’s announcement: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This could be a lot worse for everyone involved and the fact that it was something beyond WWE’s control makes it a..

Independent Wrestling Star Comments Over Leaked Pornographic Material (Safe For Work)

That’s a different kind of story. With all of the prominent wrestlers in the world today, there is bound to be a moment that might not go as expected. Some of these things are rather different than others and some of them might catch your attention. That is the case again, as it is a wrestler involved in a bit of a situation, though everything did not exactly go as it seemed. In recent weeks, explicit photos and an explicit video of former Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling star and current Major League Wrestling star Davey Richards were leaked online. This prompted Richards to issue a statement, clarifying that the material had meant to be gifts for his wife but were released without his permission. Richards also responded to a tweet making it clear that he was not upset by the incident. Well lol the vid was supposed to be a private one for my wife that apparently is now not so private lol. Oh well, it’s a wiener- they can look if it makes their day. But no, I don’t do porn – well p..

Game Changer Wrestling The Wrld On GCW Results

The Wrld On GCW Date: January 23, 2022 Location: Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City, New York Commentators: Dave Prazak, Kendall Gill Hosts: Lenny Leonard, Pollo del Mar Every now and then a show catches my attention and I’ll add it to the schedule. That is the case here, as GCW has become the hottest indy around at the moment and I’m going to give it a shot. I am absolutely not a fan of the deathmatch stuff, but apparently that kind of wrestling is not allowed in New York so we get a bit of a reprieve here. Let’s get to it. Note that I barely follow GCW so I am not going to know much in the way of storylines or characters so please bear with me if I miss something. Kickoff Show: Blue Ribbon Battle Royal Psycho Clown, Dark Sheik, Cole Radrick, Parrow, Hoodfoot, Ruckus, Charles Mason, KTB, Juicy Finau, Steve Scott, Nate Webb, Big Vin, Brandon Kirk, Janai Kai, Dustin Thomas, Marcus Mathers, Yoya, B-Boy, Lufisto, Thunder Rosa Clown jumps Parrow before most of the entrances have taken..
