What are they up to? AEW has filed a new trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, looking for “AEW Collision” to be found under entertainment services. This filing seems to suggest that the company is adding another television show to its lineup, as the trademark is listed as a show. AEW already airs Dynamite on TBS and Rampage on TNT while their streaming shows, AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation, air on YouTube. AEW’s PPV events air on Bleacher Report. The trademark reads as follows: “Mark For: AEW COLLISON™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of educational and entertainment services, namely, a continuing program about wrestling accessible by radio, television, satellite, audio, video and computer networks; Entertainment services in the nature of live wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of wrestling programs and events; Entertainment services, namely, an ongoing multimedia program featuring wrestling..
Tis the season. We are less than six weeks away from WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time to start setting up the biggest weekend of the WWE’s year. This year’s show takes place in Los Angeles, California and just like last time, WWE is airing some parody movie trailers to tie into the Hollywood theme. The first one has already aired and features two of the bigger stars in WWE today. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That Looked Awful: WWE Star Helped From Elimination Chamber, Falls Going Down Stairs WWE debuted the first of its WrestleMania movie trailer parodies over the weekend at Elimination Chamber. The trailer features Seth Rollins as the Joker, dancing down a set of stairs. At the bottom, he runs into Batman, played by Becky Lynch but not wearing a mask. The two talk, ultimately agreeing that Lynch, who is not named, is in fact The Man. There is no word on when the next trailer will be released. This was different. Check out the trailer, a trailer for the trailers, and the original..
That could be bad. You never know when you are going to see an injury in wrestling. Someone can be in the middle of their match when something goes wrong and they get hurt. It can happen to anyone at any time and unfortunately all that can be done is wait to see just how bad things are. That was the situation again this weekend, as a WWE star seemed to get banged up during a major match. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Two SmackDown Stars Tease Big Heel Turn Saturday night at WWE’s Elimination Chamber event, Seth Rollins gave Montez Ford a Stomp onto the area of the Elimination Chamber outside of the ring. Ford was pinned shortly after but required help to get to his feet and leave. He would also fall down while being helped down the steps. There is no word on the severity of his condition, or if the incident was legitimate in the first place, as Ford being helped out allowed Logan Paul to interfere in the match. It was a rough one. Check out a look at the match, plus Ford at full str..
They kind of gave it away. We are on the Road To WrestleMania 39 and that means there are a lot of questions that still need to be answered. One of the biggest is who will be defending the titles at the show, some of which are a bit harder to predict than others. Occasionally you will get a hint though and that might have happened regarding an upcoming title match. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Ouch: NXT Star Suffers Detached Retina During Attack Earlier This Week One of the advertised matches for next week’s Elimination Chamber event will see Austin Theory defending the United States Title in the show’s namesake structure. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Theory recently taped a television show, which will not air until March. During the show, Theory was carrying the United States Title. While not guaranteed, this suggests that Theory will either retain the title at Elimination Chamber, or have it in some way when the show airs. There is no guarantee that this will be the ca..
It’s a side gig. There are a lot of people in WWE and some of them have been around for a very long time. As a result of that longevity, they are often given special responsibilities that can make WWE feel more important. Occasionally this is something that will be seen by a lot of people at the same time and that will be the case again, as a WWE star is crossing over into another sport. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: How WWE Views The Top SmackDown Stars The Miz has been announced as a member of the NBA Ruffles Celebrity Game over All-Star weekend. It’s just a one off. There are all kinds of wrestling television shows around the world today and the power of streaming has made it easier than ever to see what is available. At the same time, there is little that is more dominant than being on television, as it remains the dominant force for distribution. Now one of the biggest wrestling shows of the week is changing for a little while. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They Went At It: Another AEW Backstage Scuffle Revealed According to PWInsider.com, the February 17 episode of AEW Rampage will air at 7pm.. The one night change is due to TNT’s coverage of the NBA that evening. There is a logic there. Titles mean quite a bit in wrestling as they can be quite the status symbol. Holding a title means a lot and can go a long way to elevate a wrestler. Every so often you see a wrestler holding more than once title at a time. That is taking place in WWE today, but now we might be seeing someone lose at least half of their gold, but with a good reason. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE Airs Awesome History Of Monday Night Raw Package According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning to split the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles, with the Usos losing one set of titles soon. WWE has announced upcoming title matches for either the Raw or SmackDown Tag Team Titles rather than both sets. The idea is to have the Usos lose one set of titles and keep the other, which will make future title matches more dramatic as they could lose again. WWE reportedly discussed the concept earlier this month. The Usos have been on an all time reign. Check out some of their t..
They do history well. WWE has been around for a long time and has been the dominant wrestling promotion in the United States for the last twenty plus years. The company has not faced serious competition in a long time and a lot of that has been due to its flagship television show, Monday Night Raw. That show is about to celebrate a special anniversary and WWE is going down Memory Lane. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Another Way: WWE Plans Different Kind Of Royal Rumble Surprises Next week, Monday Night Raw is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary with a special show. The event will include a variety of legends, a steel cage match and a pair of title matches. This week on SmackDown, WWE aired a video looking back at some of the greatest Monday Night Raw moments in history. The video included moments from throughout the show’s history, which were not shown in chronological order. It’s a rather cool video. Check out the Monday Night Raw tribute and some other classic show moments: [This post ..
Smackdown Date: January 6, 2023 Location: FedExForum, Memphis, Tennessee Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett We are less than a month away from the Royal Rumble as we are officially in the new year. That means we should be in for some fun tonight and there is certainly a big main event. This week, the Usos will be defending the Tag Team Titles against Drew McIntyre/Sheamus in a match that was originally scheduled for last month. Let’s get to it. The Bloodline opens things up by throwing chairs from the crowd as Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman come to the ring to join them. Reigns demands acknowledgment and seems to receive it but doesn’t seem happy. This week, we are going to hear from Sami Zayn, who says this year belongs to the Bloodline. Zayn brags about the team winning its matches on Raw but that’s not what Reigns wants to talk about. He wants to talk about LAST YEAR when he and Zayn faced John Cena and Kevin Owens. Some people have said they lost, but Reigns doesn’t remember..
Another round. The rise of AEW has shaken up the wrestling world in a major way, as there is now another national promotion allowing wrestlers a chance to show what they can do on the big stage. That has led to some issues between AEW and WWE though, and now we are going to get another chance to see both companies showcase themselves on the exact same night. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Possible Surprise Return At WWE Royal Rumble AEW has announced that it will be making its Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada debut with Dynamite on March 14, 2023. This means that the show, assuming it airs live, will air head to head against NXT. The two shows went head to head for over a year before NXT moved to Tuesday nights full time, though they will occasionally go head to head again. There is no word on why Dynamite is airing on a Tuesday night for this show. There’d be no #AEW without WINNIPEG! Don’t miss our debut on March 14, 2023 for a Tuesday Night Special #AEWDynamite LIVE and #AEWR..
He was the new guy. One of the most difficult things for a wrestling promotion to do is elevate new stars into the main event scene. It is something that has to be done every now and then though, no matter how tricky it might be. The right wrestler has to be found in order to make it work, but even then there could be some issues. Now we know how things went a bit off when a new star was elevated. During an appearance on Out Of Character with Ryan Satin, Sheamus talked about how he was received backstage after winning the WWE Title from John Cena at Tables, Ladders And Chairs 2009. Sheamus had only been on WWE TV for about five and a half months when he won the title and said that nobody was very excited over what happened. Instead, Sheamus had backstage heat from some of the wrestlers who had been around for years and never got that kind of opportunity. Sheamus has gone on to become a four time World Champion during his WWE career. Sheamus has done alright for himself in WWE. Check ..
Rampage Date: November 18, 2022 Location: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho, Excalibur It’s the go home show for Full Gear and the show has quite a bit set up in advance. The main story is advancing a tournament whose finals have been moved from Full Gear to next week, which is the best option that AEW had all things considered. Other than that, we have a special guest star so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Full Gear Contenders Tournament First Round: Ricky Starks vs. Lance Archer We start in the back (as originally planned and with Starks in street clothes) with the two of them taking turns sending each other into a metal garage door. Archer sends a backstage worker into a bunch of chairs and now they head into the arena, with Archer dragging him towards the ring. A right hand knocks Starks most of the way over a barricade and they go into the crowd with Starks diving onto him. They get to ringside, where Archer runs hi..
He is a subject. While his last few years in the business were not the strongest, there has never been a more powerful person in wrestling than Vince McMahon. Over the years, McMahon dominated the wrestling world as the owner of WWE. There are few people in wrestling with more odd stories than McMahon and now we are going to be getting a special look at him. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Boss Time: Update On Vince McMahon’s Relationship With WWE In Retirement Earlier this year, VICE TV announced an upcoming documentary film on McMahon, set to debut on October 18. However, the film’s premiere was pushed back when AEW Dynamite and NXT were both scheduled to air on the same night. Now, according to Bryan Alvarez, who is interviewed in the documentary, the film will air Tuesday December 13 at 9pm. There is nothing to suggest that McMahon himself cooperated with the documentary. The Vice TV documentary on Vince McMahon that Dave and I were interviewed for airs Dec 13th at 9 PM ET — Bryan Alvar..
And that’s that. There have been all kinds of wrestling changes taking place throughout the year but nothing has come close to the retirement of Vince McMahon from WWE. McMahon officially retired from WWE in July, with the announcement coming during an official internal WWE investigation into McMahon’s reported affair with a WWE employee. The investigation continued after McMahon’s retirement and now we have quite the development. WWE held its Q3 earnings call on Wednesday, where they officially announced that the investigation into McMahon was finished. The investigation came with an $18 million expense, though McMahon had agreed to pay “reasonable” costs for the investigation which was not covered by insurance. The report also says that McMahon can “effectively exercise control over our affairs”, meaning he could run WWE again, but according to Fightful Select, there is no chance that this will happen. McMahon is described as being “done, done” with WWE. Opinion: This isn’t a major..
That ‘s a valid excuse. WWE has a lot going on at any given point and it can be difficult to keep track of everything that is taking place. There are times where things can fall through the cracks and need to be changed, which can lead to even more confusing situations. That seems to have taken place again, as WWE has canceled an upcoming premium live event and now we know why. Earlier this month, news broke that WWE was canceling its Day 1 event on January 1, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. According to 411mania.com, there is a chance that the event was canceled due to Peacock, which airs major WWE events, will be airing the final Sunday Night Football game of the season. According to PWInsider.com, WWE has changed the premium live event to a regular live event. Opinion: This is one of those situations that much be annoying for people who were looking forward to the event but at least they are getting a little something instead of nothing. The event had some interest going into it but now..
