Reason The Hardy Boyz’ Deal with Anthem Sports Went Sour

Sports Illustrated claims that The Hardy Boyz were willing to pay between $10,000 and $15,000 for the rights to the “BROKEN” gimmick. This same deal would have included a non-disparagement clause and the Hardys sending out a press release to end the conflict on good terms.

As the deal was approaching completion, Anthem Sports reportedly tried to pull a a fast one and wanted more out of the deal. One of the things they asked for was 50% of all Hardy revenue which including Jeff Hardy’s art and music. The Hardys saw this as a ‘monumental heist and money-grab’ and the deal was not made.

The plan now is for Jeff Jarrett to stall the agreement in hopes that The Hardys will give up pursuing the case.

Austin Aries has finally broken his silence regarding his release from WWE. He posted the following on Twitter:

Bayley Comments on Possible Heel Turn

While appearing on Steve Austin’s podcast, Bayley made the following remarks about possibly turning heel:

“It breaks my heart even thinking about it! And so, when I do have these ideas, like, I write everything down, ideas, just in case, they want ideas, ‘like, okay, we’re going to do this,’ I have ideas for that. But even just thinking about that, like one day, I was like, ‘yeah, I’m going to pitch this! I’m going to do it! Like, I want to be a heel!’ And then, I went out that night for our match and I saw maybe five or six girls dressed up like me and we had met these girls before the show that were just in tears meeting us. I was like, ‘okay, no, I can’t do it! I can’t turn my back on them. I don’t know what would happen.’”

Plans Nixed for Top SummerSlam Match

The original plan heading into this year’s SummerSlam event would have seen Jinder Mahal defending the WWE Championship against John Cena, however that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE appears to be building towards a match between Cena and AJ Styles at SummerSlam this year. Meltzer indicated that the planned match between Cena and Mahal may still take place at a later date but they aren’t doing it now.

WWE Teases Huge UFC vs. WWE Feud

During Friday’s Mae Young Classic tapings at Full Sail University, WWE did an angle that saw a tease between WWE and UFC’s Four Horsewomen.

After one of Shayna Baszler’s matches in the tournament, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Bayley were shown at ringside on the opposite side of Ronda Rousey and her crew. Both sides had words with each other and it was made obvious WWE has something planned between the two sides, as the angle was recorded.

WWE Wants CM Punk Back In The Company

WWE apparently wants CM Punk to return to the company, according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

While speaking about Mauro Ranallo’s return to the company, he wrote about how some people will leave the company on horrible terms but most end up returning. Meltzer wrote, “That’s why, no matter what is said, WWE wants C.M. Punk back and even though Punk was adamant about never doing it, history tells you time heals a lot of wounds.”

Despite WWE wanting Punk to return the company, he apparently has no intentions on it according to his wife, AJ Lee. During her recent book tour, AJ Lee said that she misses wrestling but her husband does not. It’s also worth noting that Punk is still going through a legal battle with WWE’s doctor Chris Amann, so it looks like a return anytime in the near future won’t be happening.

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Commenting on Paige/Del Rio Situation, Mahal’s Championship Run, Fatal 4-Way at SummerSlam? More!

Russo opens today’s show by commentating on the recent drama in the relationship between Paige and Alberto Del Rio. He says that he met Paige and her family before, and they’re all very nice people. He has also met Del Rio in the past and he was very nice as well. In other words, he likes both of these individuals and he really just wants both of them to be okay.

He says that he doesn’t put any weight into the headlines written by wrestling ‘journalists’, but the tweets that were sent out by Paige’s brother really caught his attention. Some people forget that Paige is still just a kid, and her family are obviously very concerned about her. He believes that there is love in that relationship and he thinks they’re both good people, so he hopes they can figure this out.

Lane mentions that there has been some criticism from dirt sheet writers, Bryan Alvarez in particular, over the fact that Billy Gunn worked the recent NJPW show from the United States. Russo says he’s glad that Gunn wrestled on that show, and he’s glad that he’ll continue to wrestle for the foreseeable future because he’s able to make money doing that. This is a business, and each time Gunn wrestles he gets paid, so what’s the problem here?

Russo says that Gunn is still a machine at his age. He adds that in a shoot fight, Gunn would give Brock Lesnar a tougher bout than Samoa Joe or most other performers on WWE’s roster.
