We’re back with more Bullet Club Civil War this week as Jay White’s Japanese contingent doesn’t think much of the Elite. That contingent might have gained someone new in Chris Bey this week, which could make for something interesting going forward. White felt like a star last week and hopefully he can keep that up this time. Let’s get to it.
The opening recap looks at Jay White showing up and going after the Elite, with Chris Bey saving him to end the show.
Scott D’Amore has something big planned for tonight but says everyone is asking him for something. Tommy Dreamer comes up to ask about the #1 contendership but D’Amore walks away on the phone.
Good Brothers vs. Chris Bey/Jay White Non-title. White and Anderson start things off with the feeling out process until White chops away in the corner. Bey comes in for the kicks to the ribs into a nice dropkick. Ander..

WWE Considered A Major Change To SmackDown

Make it bigger. WWE is the most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and that means a change can have a profound impact on wrestling. Some of these things are better than others but in this case, it can mean changing up something that has been the same for a good while. WWE already ha a lot of television options, but now we might be seeing something happen again.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE once considered adding a third hour to SmackDown. The third hour would have aired on Fox Sports One from 10pm – 11pm EST, though nothing ever came of it. WWE has not made a mention of adding a third hour to SmackDown since debuting on FOX, though there is a chance that the plan may change with the debut of AEW Rampage on August 13.

Former WWE World Champion May Be Back With Company Soon

That’s some good business. The big WWE story of the year continues to be wrestlers being let go from the company for one reason or another. The main reason for all of the departures so far has been budget cuts, which have been the primary justification given for most of the cuts. Some of the names were very surprising, but at least one of them might be on his way back.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is interested in bringing back Braun Strowman, albeit at a lower price. Strowman, a former Universal Champion, was one of several wrestlers let go from the company on June 2 of this year. He was reportedly making over million dollars a year, which led to his release. There is no word on how much lower his new offer would be or if Strowman is interested in returning.
Strowman was certainly an attraction. Check out what he did in WWE:

WWE Star Teases Bringing Back An Infamous Gimmick Match

Welcome back? There are all kinds of different matches in the wrestling world and some of them are a lot more unique than others. You don’t get to see all of them every week as it could get dull in a hurry. Sometimes a promotion finds a match that it only busts out in extreme situations, with WWE being no exception. One such match be making it’s return soon.
In a new interview with El Brunch de WWE, Jinder Mahal discussed the history of the Punjabi Prison match. Mahal mentioned that Great Khali designed the match and then appeared to help Mahal win his edition of the match against Randy Orton at Battleground 2017. While Mahal said that he did not want to have too many matches inside the structure, he did want to face Drew McIntyre in such a match. No match between the two has been announced as of yet, though they are feuding.
The Punjabi Prison match consists of a pair of cages made of bamboo surrounding the ring. A series of doors can be opened, allowing a wrestler to move from one ..

WWE Roster Shaken Up Following Bray Wyatt’s Release

Can you blame them? The biggest wrestling story over the weekend was WWE releasing Bray Wyatt. The release came rather unexpectedly, as Wyatt, a former multiple time World Champion, had not been on the chopping block or close to it. Since then, news has come out that Wyatt was released as part of the latest WWE budget cuts. How does that make everyone else feel though?
According to Fightful Select, several WWE wrestlers, including several long term names, do not feel safe from similar cuts. Wyatt regularly moved merchandise for the company but was still released anyway. This includes wrestlers who have been with the company for years at any level or in spite of any previous pushes. There is no word on if WWE is planning any more cuts in the near future.
There have been some memorable releases over the years. Check out some of them, plus some Wyatt:

VIDEO: New Day Reunion With Very Special Guest Star

He’ll get them cheering. Celebrities have been a big deal in wrestling for a very long time now and that is always going to be the case. Fans are going to react to someone not involved in the wrestling world making an appearance, especially if they are some kind of a local celebrity. Athletes certainly fit the bill and that was the case this week when WWE rolled into town.
Bobby Portis of the new NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks appeared at a WWE live event over the weekend. Portis appeared with the New Day during the show and was holding the custom WWE Championship sent to the Bucks by Triple H. Following a staredown with Bobby Lashley, Portis got into the ring to celebrate with New Day. Portis did not get physical in any way during the appearance. Later in the night, Portis thanked WWE for letting him get involved.
This is pretty cool. Check out both versions of Portis’ appearance, plus some of the best of the New Day:

Former WWE Star Now Managing Wrestlers’ Careers

You need another career. Wrestling is like any other sport in that you are eventually going to have to hang up your boots and move on to something else. It is incredibly frustrating at times, but it happens to every wrestler at one point or another. Every wrestler is going to have to find something new one day though, and now one former WWE star has something rather unique in mind.
In a new interview with Wrestlinginc.com, former WWE wrestler Mojo Rawley spoke about his new management company, which is helping many former wrestlers get various appearances. Former WWE Star Makes Surprise Debut In Impact Wrestling

You might remember him. There are a lot of talented wrestlers in the world today but there are only so many spots for them on the biggest stage. WWE has let a lot of wrestlers go over the last year or so and some of them have popped up elsewhere. That can make for some interesting debuts when they show up in another promotion, which was the case again this weekend.
Matthew Rehwoldt, formerly known as Aiden English in WWE, made his Impact Wrestling debut at their Homecoming event on Saturday. Rehwoldt and Deonna Purrazzo teamed up to win the Homecoming Tournament, earning the titles of King and Queen of Impact. After debuting with WWE in 2012, Rehwoldt was released from the company on April 15, 2020. A vignette aired announcing his debut with the company at last week’s Slammiversary event.
Rehwoldt is a surprise addition. Check out his time in the ring:

Wrestling World Reacts To Bray Wyatt’s WWE Release (And They Aren’t Happy)

Can you blame them? There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world outside of WWE but thanks to the power of social media, it can be easy to hear from a lot of them. That is the case when something either good or bad happens and it often can include some rather interesting opinions. The same thing took place again this weekend after WWE made a big change.
This weekend, WWE released Bray Wyatt, reportedly due to more budget cuts for the company. The move came out of nowhere and surprised quite a few people, as Wyatt, a former three time World Champion, was dropped from the roster in a hurry. You do not see changes like that take place every day and as you might expect, a lot of wrestling personalities have weighed in on the situation.
Since Wyatt has been released, wrestling personalities have offered their opinions on Twitter. This includes current and former WWE stars, including Alexa Bliss, who worked with Wyatt in his most recent television run. The majority of the comments ..
