VIDEO: Matt Hardy Trolls Fans Hard At Independent Event

That’s some quality trolling. There are certain wrestlers who just connect with the fans in the right way. You see them come to the ring and the fans instantly react, which is not something that happens very often. It can be a mixture of a lot of things and the wrestler’s theme music is one of them. That was used in quite the act of messing with the audience over the weekend.
AEW’s Matt Hardy appeared at a Battleground Championship Wrestling event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday. Hardy was scheduled to wrestle in a tag match and said that he was bringing in family to help. The Hardys’ WWE theme song played and AEW’s Marq Quen appeared, imitating Matt’s brother Jeff. Matt posted a video of the event to Twitter, laughing at the fans for being “extreme marks”.
This got some attention. Check out how the entrance went, plus what the real team looks like:

Mia Yim Clears Up Rumors About Her WWE Status

That’s kind of an explanation. The WWE roster has been shaken up in a variety of ways over the last few months and that seems like it will be the case going forward. It can be interesting to see when someone goes off of television, but it can be worse to hear that something is wrong. That does not seem to be the case this time, though it does not exactly clear things up.
Monday Night Raw’s Mia Yim has not wrestled a match since December 2020 and it is not clear why. Yim tested positive for the Coronavirus earlier this year but has reportedly been cleared. This weekend, Yim sent out a tweet saying she was not injured. There is no word on why she has been out of action, though she was quietly traded from SmackDown to Monday Night Raw in the spring. Yim was last seen as part of the Retribution stable, which split up in February.
I’m not injured.

Monday Night Raw Star Undergoes Knee Surgery, To Miss Time

Hopefully it isn’t too bad. There are all kinds of reasons for a wrestler to miss time from television and some of them are a lot more serious than others. One of the biggest problems can involve getting injured, as you will occasionally see someone have to go on the shelf for a little while. That seems to be the case again on Monday Night Raw, as a star is going to be missing for a little while.
Earlier this week, WWE reported that MVP would be out of action due to a broken rib at the hands of Big E. According to F4W Online, MVP underwent knee surgery this week to repair an injury which took place during a match earlier this year. There is no word on how long he will be out of action or if he will be returning to the ring when he returns to television. MVP has been serving as Bobby Lashley’s manager.
MVP has been a heck of an addition to Lashley. Check out what the two have done together:

Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph
It’s time for the brand new look to the show and that might be a good thing. At the same time, what matters more is the fact that this show is morphing into the NXT supplemental show that it has needed to be for a long time now. I’m not sure what to expect from this show, and that’s a nice feeling after all these years. Let’s get to it.
Valentina Feroz vs. Amari Miller Feroz grabs the armbar to start and Miller can’t quite forearm her way to freedom. Instead, Miller grabs her own armbar but Feroz flips her way to freedom. A kick to the head drops Feroz though and some knees to the face from the apron rock Feroz again. The chinlock doesn’t last long but a knee to the ribs cuts off a comeback attempt. Some wristdrags have Miller in trouble but she grabs a spinebuster. That’s fine with Feroz, who grabs a cross armbreaker from the mat for the tap at 5:56.

It’s A Big One: Huge World Title Match Set For October

It’s a way to set up the big one. While WWE and AEW get almost all of the wrestling attention in America, there are other promotions out there which are putting out a qualify product of their own. This would include Impact Wrestling, which is just over a month away from its biggest event of the year with Bound For Glory. The show needs a main event though and now they might have that covered.
This weekend at Impact Wrestling’s Victory Road event, Christian Cage defeated Ace Austin to retain the Impact Wrestling World Title. After the match was over, X-Division Champion Josh Alexander came out and said that he was using Option C to cash in his title for a shot at the World Title at Bound For Glory. This comes after Alexander had been teasing going after the title for a few weeks now.
Alexander is a main event star in the making. Check out what is waiting on Cage:

Til We Meet Again: AEW Writing Off Legend For The Time Being

It was fun while it lasted. AEW has built up an impressive roster over its still rather short existence. The promotion has a nice mixture of rookies, established named and veterans, which add up to quite the entertaining lineup. Sometimes you need some more well known names to help boost up the younger ones, though AEW is going to be losing one such older name for the time being.
Last week on AEW Rampage, Andrade El Idolo attacked his associate Chavo Guerrero, leaving him to be taken out by Pac. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the angle was designed to write Guerrero off of AEW television as he will be returning to work as the wrestling coordinator on the NBC series Young Rock. Guerrero was always scheduled to leave soon after All Out but will be back when Young Rock finishes filming its second season.
Guerrero certainly is a star. Check out some of his better moments from around the wrestling world:

Adam Cole Is Having Another Kind Of Success In AEW

That’s one way of knowing how well he is doing. Theme music is a huge part of a wrestler’s overall presentation. The right or wrong song can be a great boost or problem for a wrestler, as it can help define them. Some theme songs become iconic for multiple reasons, with some of them including audience participation. Now a new song is doing rather well in a different way.
Adam Cole made his AEW Debut at All Out earlier this month. He has since appeared on Dynamite, including wrestling his first match. During his appearances, Cole has come to the ring to his new theme song, “All Bout The (BOOM)”. According to Mikey Rukus, who performs the theme, the song has reached #4 on the iTunes metal charts and #11 on the iTunes rock charts.

WWE RUMOR: Brock Lesnar May Be On The Move For A Big Reason

It’s another way to go with him. The WWE Draft is coming up in about two weeks and that means we are going to be in for some major changes. The Draft is the kind of thing that can shake up WWE in a huge way and with so many other events coming up, it can be fascinating to see what might be happening. We might have an idea of one of the bigger moves, and it might have some bigger implications.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, WWE may be moving Brock Lesnar to Monday Night Raw in the upcoming WWE Draft. This would be used as a way to keep Roman Reigns and Lesnar apart prior to WrestleMania 38, where the two could be facing off in a Universal Title match. The two are set to face off at Crown Jewel on October 21, which would included a screwjob finish of some sort. As a result, the two would have to be kept apart until WrestleMania, with the Draft being the means to do so. While not confirmed, such a move was teased this week on SmackDown.
We’ve seen this a time or two before. Check out ho..

More On Bron Breakker’s NXT Debut, Why The Name Change

Who are you again? Wrestling can often be a family business, as you often hear all kinds of names over and over again. Sometimes you see a wrestler’s son or daughter become a big star in their own right and it helps to have the family ties to make it better. Every now and then second generation wrestlers go in the other direction though, which seems to be the case again now.
This week’s NXT featured the debut of Bron Breakker, formerly known as Bronson Rechsteiner. The son of Rick Steiner and the nephew of Scott Steiner, Breakker comes from a very successful wrestling family. However, there was no mention of his family connection during his appearance on the show. It seems that there are reasons both for his name and the lack of a mention.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE’s original plan was for Breakker to be called Rex Steiner. However, this was changed as WWE likes to create and control all of the names of its wrestlers. Therefore, a completely new name was created with no referenc..

Local Advertises Possibly Spoil Huge WWE Draft Move

They’re letting us know early. There are several events on the WWE calendar which can change the way the company looks almost overnight. Some of these shows take place every single year and in some cases, they are too big for a single night. That is going to be the case next month and now we might know a little something about what to expect on one of the shows.
WWE has announced that the annual WWE Draft will take place on the October 1 SmackDown and the October 4 Monday Night Raw. Local advertisements at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, the location of the October 1 SmackDown, is advertising a Universal Title match between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre. This comes as Reigns is part of the SmackDown roster while Drew McIntyre is on Monday Night Raw. It is not clear if this is an accidental spoiler of McIntyre switching brands or a special dark match.

Several NXT Stars Turned Down Contract Extensions For Similar Reasons

They aren’t interested. The rise of AEW has done a lot of things to the wrestling industry but one of the most important is giving wrestlers another major place to go. WWE has been the only major game in town for such a long itme that it means a lot to offer a different option. It allows the wrestlers a bit of freedom, and it seems that some of them exercised that freedom in a major way.
According to Fightful Select, a number of NXT wrestlers were offered the chance to sign contract extensions in 2019 but declined. Some of the names who did not re-sign at the time were Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole and Pete Dunne. The deals were said to be for significantly less money than main roster deals, leaving the wrestlers with little incentive to re-sign. Cole has already left for AEW, though Dunne did eventually sign an extension with WWE. It is not clear whether Gargano will re-sign or not.
Those are some talented names. Check out who WWE was attempting to keep:

REVIEW: NXT Takeover: Phoenix: The Desert Classic

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Takeover: Phoenix
Date: January 26, 2019
Location: Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, Arizona
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson, Mauro Ranallo
I don’t think I need to waste your time suggesting that this show might be awesome. Takeover has raised their standard up so high that there’s no reason to suggest that it’s going to be anything less than great. The question now is how great, which should make for a heck of an evening. Let’s get to it.
