AEW Rampage Results – November 19, 2021

Rampage
Date: November 19, 2021
Location: Chartway Arena, Norfolk, Virginia
Commentators: Excalibur, Chris Jericho, Taz, Ricky Starks
We’re fresh off of Full Gear and the next big thing, probably for their upcoming Clash Of Champions style special, is Hangman Page defending the World Title against Bryan Danielson. That will be more than enough to carry the shows for a bit, but we should be in for some other stuff this week. What other stuff? Well probably some AEW stuff. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Billy Gunn vs. Darby Allin The Gunn Club and Sting are all here. Feeling out process to start with Gunn not seeming that worried here. A test of strength isn’t happening but Gunn hits a heck of a backdrop to send Allin bailing for a breather. Gunn follows him out and sends him back inside, albeit with a pause for a staredown with Sting. After a hug to Austin Gunn, Billy pulls Allin out from under the ropes for a crash to the floor.
Another Sting distraction doesn’t do much for All..

Smackdown
Date: November 19, 2021
Location: XL Center, Hartford, Connecticut
Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee
It’s the go home show for Survivor Series and that means it is time to hype up the Battle Of Brand Supremacy. We don’t have anything else to talk about on the show because there are no title matches or really anything personal to build towards, but maybe Big E. can show up to avenge his friends. Let’s get to it.

WATCH: New WWE2K22 Trailer Reveals Tons Of New Features

It’s a big part of the company. Wrestling and video games really are kind of a perfect match. Fans can play as any wrestler they want and beat up anyone else on the roster, with a crazy amount of combinations available. Given how detailed games have gotten these days, there are more possibilities than anyone could conceivably play through. Now we know what the new version will have.
WWE has released a video showcasing new features on the upcoming WWE 2K22 video game. The list, known as the Hit List, includes various graphic and presentation enhancements, plus several modes, including My Faction, My GM, My Rise and more. There will be more details announced at some point in January 2022, though there is no release date for the full game.
There is a lot here. Check out the video, plus some hype for past editions:

Eddie Kingston: An Imperfect Hero For An Imperfect World

No matter how they tell the story of professional wrestling, it is always the same. Good vs. evil; babyface vs. heel. The fans cheer for their favorite hero to finally overcome the bully that stands in their way of achieving their goals.
However, outside the obstacles the heels may place, they do not seem to have many problems in their life. They smile, laugh, and have a good time. Maybe they have a family and are portrayed to have it all together.
While fans do enjoy these characters, the ones they have always naturally gotten behind are the ones that seem the most real. Stone Cold Steve Austin became the biggest star in professional wrestling solely due to the fact the Everyday Man could see themselves in Austin. Everyone has had horrible bosses they wish they could give it back to.
Daniel Bryan (now, Bryan Danielson in AEW) was relatable because every person in some sort of fashion has felt like they have been held down and told they aren’t what companies or people are looking f..

VIDEO: Triple H Back At Work After Cardiac Event

Welcome back? There are a lot of people who make decisions in WWE but some of them are a lot more well known than others. A change in WWE’s higher up management can mean a lot for the company and that was the case, at least temporarily, earlier this year, when an executive had some health issues. Now they are back to work, at least in one kind of capacity.
Back in September, WWE COO Triple H suffered a cardiac event and has not been away recovering since. This week, a pair of videos have been posted to TikTok, showing Triple H and various other WWE executives, including Vince McMahon, touring what will become the future WWE headquarters. This is Triple H’s first appearance since September, though there is no word on how much he is doing otherwise.
It’s great to have him back. Check out Triple H on tour, plus some of his great returns:

WWE Making Strong Push To Re-Sign Star Whose Contract Expires Next Month

They have a focus. WWE has changed so much in recent months and those changes could continue for a long time to come. Many of these changes involve wrestlers being moved out of the promotion and it feels like almost no one is safe at the moment. This is the case for both the main roster and NXT, but now WWE seems interested in keeping someone else on the payroll.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Johnny Gargano’s WWE contract expires on December 3 and he has yet to sign a new deal with the company. WWE is reportedly pushing very hard to keep Gargano, making him a “very strong offer” to keep him with the company for “a long time”. There is no word on the terms of the potential deal or what Gargano plans to do at the moment.
Gargano is an NXT legend. Check out some of his better time in NXT:

Impact Wrestling Results – November 18, 2021

Impact Wrestling
Date: November 18, 2021
Location: Sam’s Town Live, Las Vegas, Nevada
Commentators: D’Lo Brown, Matt Striker
It’s the go home show for Turning Point and that means we are likely getting the final push towards the show. There are a lot of things that still need to be fixed up but what matters now is making me want to watch. Impact has gotten a lot better at this sort of thing as of late and one last push could help a lot. Let’s get to it.
The opening recap looks at Eddie Edwards becoming #1 contender to Moose’s World Title.
Opening sequence.
Steve Maclin vs. Laredo Kid If Maclin wins, he’s added to the X-Division Title match at Turning Point. Kid starts fast but gets rolled up for an early two. That means a standoff and the fans are rather pleased with what they are seeing. Maclin is sent outside but switches places in a hurry, meaning Kid is crushed by a big suicide dive. Back in and Kid flips out of a release German suplex but gets tied in the Tree of Woe.

REVIEW: Prime Time Wrestling – June 17, 1987: The Show Of Its Time

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Prime Time Wrestling
Date: June 17, 1987
Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan
Commentators: Dick Graham, Lord Alfred Hayes, Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, Vince McMahon, Gorilla Monsoon, Bruno Sammartino
Oh boy it’s Prime Time. This was one of the big shows from the WWF, as it featured various matches from major house shows. That might not sound like much, but at the time, this was a pretty awesome deal. What makes it better is Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan as the hosts, giving us the legendary banter that made..

VIDEOS: Wrestling World Reacts To Latest WWE Releases

They don’t seem pleased. One of the biggest WWE stories over the last year and a half has been the string of releases. The company has released well over 100 wrestlers in the last eighteen months and that continued earlier this week. It was a story that has taken place several times now and just like the previous times, the wrestling world has a lot to say about the whole thing.
Earlier this week, WWE released another group of eight wrestlers, including the Hit Row faction, John Morrison, Shane Thorne, Tegan Nox, Drake Maverick and Jaxson Ryker. Since the releases have taken place, several wrestlers and wrestling personalities have reacted to the situation, with the majority of them expressing sympathy for the wrestlers and anger towards WWE.
Here are some of the better reactions, including from some of the released wrestlers:

That Explains It: Why Vince McMahon Pulled Paul Heyman From Talking Smack

There was a reason for that. WWE has a lot of different television shows available, but that is not the extent of their content. In addition to everything they put on television, they have a wide variety of web series available as well. Some of these have quite the fan base, though one recent change was not so well received. Now we know a bit more about why that was the case.
Earlier this year, Paul Heyman was replaced on WWE’s Talking Smack series. The move came just after live fans returned to WWE events and it was unclear why the change was made. Heyman explained the change in an interview with Ariel Helwani, saying that he was unable to appear in the studio for the show while also appearing in Roman Reigns’ corner for the dark match main event. As a result of the scheduling conflict, Vince McMahon made the call for an immediate change. There is nothing to suggest that there is any heat on Heyman.
It’s an interesting interview. Check out the show, plus Heyman on Talking Smack:

Hulk Hogan Reportedly Undergoing Serious Health Issues

He’s a big one. There are legends in the wrestling world and then there is Hulk Hogan. While the last few years have not seen him painted in the best light due to some rather bad decisions, Hogan is still one of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling and the reason a lot of fans watch today. He still draws some interest today and now it seems that things are not going so well for him.
During the debut episode of his Wooooo Nation Uncensored podcast, Ric Flair revealed that Hulk Hogan is undergoing some serious health issues. While Flair did not elaborate on what was wrong, he did talk about how the two support each other, including Hogan visiting Flair while he was in a coma in 2017. There is no word on what is wrong with Hogan, though he has had several back surgeries over there years.
Flair and Hogan have a longstanding history. Check out what the two have done over the years:

WWE Completely Dropping NXT Character, New Name Revealed

Switch it up. Sometimes, a wrestler needs to change course in a way. This could be anything from switching from good to evil or getting a manager or just changing the way their matches go. Other times it is a much more dramatic change and can include a wrestler being completely repackaged. That seems to be the case again, as a unique gimmick is going away.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE has dropped the Mei Ying character in NXT. The character, played by Karen Q, was an ancient witch who led the Tian Sha stable. Karen Q is still with NXT but will be going by the name Wendy Choo going forward. There is no word on when she will debut or what this will mean for Boa, the other member of the Tian Sha stable.
Tian Sha was an interesting group. Check out some of their time together:
