WWE Considering Dropping One Of Its Titles

A little less silver. Titles are a rather simple concept in the world of wrestling as they are so easy to understand: the person who has the big shiny belt is at the top of the ladder and everyone else wants to take it away. That is something anyone can understand, but there is a limit to how many titles can still be effective. WWE seems to know this and might be dropping a title.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is considering dropping the NXT Cruiserweight Title. The potential move would be part of a long string of changes NXT has been making in recent months. This comes before Joe Gacy, who does not meet the cruiserweight limit, challenges Roderick Strong for the title at WarGames. There is no word on if Gacy will be winning the title or if it will just be dropped with Strong retaining. Strong has not defended the title since the September 28 edition of NXT.
The title has done well when it is around. Check out some of its better moments:

AEW Dominates This Year’s PWI Tag Team 50 List

Add it to the trophy case. Tag teams have an interesting place in wrestling history, as it has been big in just about every promotion outside of WWE. Other promotions have emphasized it more over the years and as a result, WWE teams may not be as recognized as some others. That was the case again this year as another promotion has won a prestigious honor.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated has announced that the Young Bucks have topped the PWI Tag Team 50 list. This is the second year that the list has been released and the second year in a row that an AEW team has been on top, following FTR last year. The Young Bucks were also on last year’s list at #11. The only WWE team in the top five was the Usos, who came in at #4 and were unranked last year due to Jimmy Uso’s knee injury. Here is the top 5:
1. The Young Bucks
2. Lucha Bros
3. Dangerous Tekkers
4. The Usos
5. ALK (Giulia & Syuri)
Congratulations to Matt & Nick Jackson, The Young Bucks, for ranking #1 in the second annual PWI #TagTeam50..

WWE Hall Of Famer Stepping Away From Commentary Role

Fare thee well. Commentary is a very important part of any wrestling show as it serves as the fans’ guide to the show. The commentary team tells fans what they need to know and why it is so important. That is a hard task to pull off and some of the teams are quite good at their jobs. Now though, one of those teams will be missing one of its longstanding members.
WWE Hall of Famer has announced that she will be leaving the NXT broadcasting team following this weekend’s WarGames event. Phoenix says that she is leaving the position to spend more time with her family and thanked everyone who helped her during her time on the show. Phoenix began working on the commentary team in 2017 in a part time role before moving into the full time position in 2019.

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE’s Wacky Theory About Tony Khan And AEW Tickets

He’s doing what? For a very long time, one of the things that wrestling fans wanted to see more than anything else was another billionaire to come along and try their hand at going up against the WWE. It is not an easy task but it has finally happened in the form of AEW owner Tony Khan. He has certainly been a success so far, though some think he might be up to something.
According Bryan Alvarez on the F4WOnline message board, there are some in WWE who believe that Khan is personally buying tickets to AEW events to beef up ticket sales. There is nothing to suggest that this has actually taken place, or where the fans who fill the paid seats came from. AEW returned to running events on the road in September after staying in Jacksonville, Florida throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.
It would be a heck of a trick. Check out some of the shows the fans have paid to see:

WWE Working Hard To Re-Sign Two NXT Stars

Keep them around. The amount of wrestlers who have departed WWE, either on their own or because of WWE letting them go, in the last year and a half is astounding. The company has released well over 100 wrestlers in that time and there is still the chance that more will be released at any time. Now though, WWE is trying to keep some of them from joining the list.
According to Fightful Select, WWE has been making an effort to re-sign both NXT’s Kyle O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano, whose contracts expire soon. Negotiations with Gargano began back in October, as WWE was impressed with how Gargano built new stars. His contract is set to expire shortly after this weekend’s WarGames event. O’Reilly’s deal is up before the end of the year and WWE is working to re-sign him as well. There is no word on whether the two are interested in staying with WWE or going elsewhere.
They are some talented people. Check out why WWE wants to keep them:

WWE Hall Of Famer May Be Returning To The Ring

Reunion time? It is rather rare to see a wrestling couple that sticks around. While they certainly do exist they can be few and far between. Those that do last are among some of the better known names in wrestling though and it can be fascinating to see them work together. That is what we are seeing at the moment, and now we might be getting another one together for the first time.
This week’s Monday Night Raw featured the return of Edge, who was interrupted by the also returning Miz and Maryse. Edge and Miz argued back and forth on the microphone, with Maryse insulting Edge as well. According to PWInsider.com, there is a chance that the story could include the return of WWE Hall of Famer and Edge’s wife Beth Phoenix. WWE would like to run another couple vs. couple storyline, though there is no word on if Phoenix and/or Maryse would be returning to the ring. Phoenix is currently a broadcaster on NXT.
This could be interesting. Check out how everyone can go in the ring:

WWE Edits Out Controversial Lines From This Week’s Monday Night Raw

Fix it in post. There are a lot of things to criticize about WWE and one of their bigger issues seems to be promos. Wrestlers are often given scripted promos where they are unable to say things the way they want. You will see some people getting creative freedom, but either way, you will hear some strange things sneak through. That was the case this week, but now it has been cleaned up.
This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw included a contract signing between Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan. During the segment, Morgan talked about how Lynch’s contract was the reason her friends were no longer in WWE. The line has been removed from WWE’s YouTube version of the promo. There is nothing to suggest that there is any backstage heat on Morgan for the promo.
It was a heck of a speech. Check out the original version, the edited version and the missing wrestlers:

WATCH: AEW Busts Out Flaming Table In Hot Ending To Dynamite

That’s a hot one for AEW. There are certain spots in wrestling that you do not see very often, which means they are going to have an even bigger impact. You can’t bust them out very often as it would take away their special feeling, but when they are there, they work in a big way. That was supposed to be the case again this week, but things did not exactly turn out as planned.
The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Cody Rhodes face Andrade El Idolo in an Atlanta street fight. Near the end of the match, the two of them were on the top rope when Cody’s wife Brandi Rhodes made a surprise return and lit a table on fire. Cody superplexed El Idolo through the table and pinned him, with Cody’s arm on fire during the cover.
It was a heck of a crash. Check out how the match ended, plus other wrestlers going through fire:

VIDEO: Surprise Return Takes Place During AEW Dynamite

Welcome back. There are a lot of people on the AEW roster and it can be fascinating to see what some of them do. Some of them do not get to make that many appearances, which can make for a rather cool moment when someone comes back. If that comes after an even longer absence than usual, it can be even better. One such return took place this week.
This week’s AEW Dynamite featured the surprise return of Brandi Rhodes, who has been missing for several months due to maternity leave. Rhodes returned during the show’s main event between Cody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo, lighting a table on fire so Cody could superplex El Idolo through it. There is no word on if Brandi will be wrestling again in the future.
It’s been awhile. Check out the ending, plus some more of Brandi:

AEW World Championship Match Set For Winter Is Coming 2021

The Cowboy vs. The Dragon. Prior to tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that “Hangman” Adam Page will be defending the AEW World Championship against the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson at the upcoming Winter Is Coming event. This special edition of Dynamite will take place on Wednesday, December 15 of this year.
You can see the tweet from Khan below:

AEW Dynamite Results – December 1, 2021

Dynamite
Date: December 1, 2021
Location: Gas South Arena, Duluth, Georgia
Commentators: Hangman Page, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur
We’re two weeks away from Winter Is Coming and that could be a heck of a big night. You can probably guess some of the card from here and that means AEW has a path to take on the way to the show. Other than that, we have a street fight this week as Cody Rhodes faces Andrade El Idolo. Let’s get to it.
Jim Ross isn’t here tonight so Hangman Page is filling in.
In two weeks: Page vs. Bryan Danielson for the World Title.
Bryan Danielson vs. Alan Angels Danielson wastes no time in starting with the kicks as Angels is in trouble early. The fans are behind Angels and Danielson throws in a Hulk Hogan hand to the ear to turn up the anger another notch. The kicks and chops in the corner make it even worse, followed by the running corner dropkick. Angels fights back but gets pulled into a cross armbreaker. That’s broken up so Angels sends him outside for a pair of d..

AEW Star Heading Back To Japan

Back in a bit. AEW has one of the most impressive rosters in recent memory and a lot of that is due to how varied everything really is. There are some incredibly talented wrestlers on the roster and it makes for some rather awesome shows. There is not always room for everyone though and now one of them will be heading away, at least for a little while, to work another show.
Hikaru Shida has announced that she will be returning to Japan to appear on the Makai Genesis ReBoot show on February 4 at Kameari Ririo Hall. There is nothing to suggest that this will be anything more than a single match and Shida is not expected to miss extended time from AEW. Shida is a former AEW Women’s Champion and has been feuding with Serena Deeb in recent weeks.
