It’s Been A Long Road: Legendary Tag Team Announces Farewell Tour

It’s been a ride. There is one thing that is true of all wrestlers: at some point, they are going to wrap up their careers. Sometimes this is just a detail at the end of a less than impactful career, but there are other wrestlers who get to ride off into the sunset after an all time run. That seems to be the case again, at least for what made a pair of wrestlers famous.
Ricky Morton has announced that Rock N Roll Express will be holding their Farewell Tour beginning on January 22. There is no word on when the tour will end or when their final match as a team will take place. The team has been together since the late 1980s and have won titles around the world, including five reigns as the NWA World Tag Team Champions. Morton specified that he is not retiring from wrestling, but only from teaming with Robert Gibson as the Rock N Roll Express, citing a desire to work more behind the scenes and to team with his son. It is not clear if Gibson will continue to wrestler.

WATCH: A New Monster Makes His AEW Debut

Welcome to the family. One of the most fascinating things you can see in wrestling is a debut. A new wrestler coming into a promotion can change how things work on the show, especially if they make an impact right out of the gate. That can be quite the big moment and that seems to be what we had this week, as a new star made their debut on a bigger stage.
This week on AEW Dynamite, Brody King made his debut, helping Malakai Black against the Varsity Blonds and Penta El Zero Miedo. King debuted as the newest member of the House of Black, after having been teased by Black a few weeks ago. King is a former Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion and one half of the reigning Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Tag Team Champions with Black.
It was a big moment. Check out King’s debut, plus what he is bringing to AEW:

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – January 12, 2022

Dynamite
Date: January 12, 2022
Location: PNC Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina
Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur
It’s time to get a bit more back to normal after last week’s major show. That could mean a few things this week, as AEW has a bit of a strange definition of normal. World Champion Hangman Page is here and we have a showdown between CM Punk and Wardlow, which means MJF will be around too. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Here are Adam Cole and ReDragon for a chat. Cole brags about how awesome the three of them are and how he is undefeated in singles action. ReDragon is the baddest team in wrestling….but here are the Young Bucks and Brandon Cutler to interrupt. Cole tries to play peacemaker and they all seem to be friends, because both teams are better than people like the Best Friends.
Cue the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy, with Cole calling their music stupid. The fight is on in a hurry but Cole hits Cassidy low. The beatdown is on but Kris Stadtlander ..

Important AEW Name Signs Extension With The Company

Stick around for a bit. AEW has done quite the job of building up a roster and group of talent to present their shows every single week. There are a lot of people put together to make the shows work and some of the more interesting people are not even in the ring. One of the more prominent names in the company will be around even longer after signing a new deal.
During the latest episode of his What Happened When podcast, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone announced that he has signed a two year contract extension with the company. With the extension, Schiavone will be with AEW through the middle of 2024. Schiavone does commentary on Dynamite and Dark: Elevation, along with the company’s pay per view events.
Schiavone has been quite the success in AEW. Check out some of his time in the company:

Sasha Banks Featured In 2022 College Football Playoff Introduction

The Boss and football make a perfect mix. WWE superstar Sasha Banks was recently the featured figure on the introduction video for the 2022 College Football National Championship game on ESPN. The game featured the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
You can see the video in its entirety below:

The video features Banks as an outer-wordly character, similar to the one that she played on The Mandalorian. She then uses futuristic technology to show past National Champions, and then promote the game between Georgia and Alabama.
WWE has released a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot for this promotional video, which you can see below:

Banks has been out of action since the beginning of this month when she was injured at a live event. In a recent report, WWE announced that Banks has suffered a bruised calcaneus bone and will be out of action for 6-8 weeks.

He started his wrestling career in 2000, joining such promotions as International Wrestling Cartel and One Pro Wrestling. He had some sporadic appearances on WWE television before joining their developmental territory in 2011. He was a part of the roster when they made the transition from FCW to NXT in 2012.

REVIEW: Royal Rumble 2000: The Sequel Is Better

Royal Rumble 2000
Date: January 23, 2000
Location: Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York
Attendance: 19,231
Commentators: Jerry Lawler, Jim Ross
This is the first of the two redos of the year and you picked a good one. What we have here is one of the better one two punches in WWF history, as it’s a double main event. Of course there is the Rumble, but we also have Cactus Jack vs. HHH for the WWF Title in a street fight, which should work out fairly well. Let’s get to it.
The opening video looks at some of Cactus Jack’s most violent moments over the years, with HHH still thinking he knows what he is getting into. Some of the Japanese deathmatch stuff here is rather insane looking and wasn’t something you would see on WWF (or American) TV at the time (or in modern times either really).
The set is really cool, as it has the entrance opposite the hard camera. There is a taxi hanging over the aisle, which is painted like a street for the street fight. Remember when they put in a..

KB’s Review: We Lost The Food Fight

I’ve been watching wrestling for a pretty long time now and it is rare that things really get to me in a negative way. Of course there are bad parts to almost every show, but most of them come and go without too much trouble. That is not always the case though and unfortunately we saw something like that again this week. To make it even worse, it was the second similar instance in just a few weeks.
Back in November, Charlotte hit Toni Storm in the face with a pie. It was the night after Thanksgiving and WWE felt the need to have a Thanksgiving Leftovers match earlier in the show. Charlotte and Storm came out, with Charlotte hitting her in the face with the pie. Since this is modern WWE, Storm stood there and took it, only to come back the next week with a pie to Charlotte. Then Charlotte beat her up twice in a row and Storm left the company, probably because she just lost a feud that started with a pie being shoved into her face.
Now that was bad enough, but at least it was designed ..

WWE Being Sued By Major League Wrestling Over Anti-Trust Claims

That could be a big deal. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and that has been the case for a very long time. It is fair to say that it holds a monopoly over the industry, which has made it difficult for another promotion to truly rise up. Things have changed a bit though, and now another promotion is not exactly happy with how WWE runs things.
Major League Wrestling (MLW) has issued a press release, by way of 411mania.com, announcing that they are suing WWE over antitrust issues. The suit claims that WWE has disrupted a potential streaming deal for the company, as well as attempted to keep them off of Vice TV because Vince McMahon did not want their content on the network. MLW claims that the streaming deal would have been “transformative” for the company.
PWInsider.com has obtained a copy of the lawsuit, which accuses WWE of violating the Sherman Antitrust Act. WWE is also accused of using anticompetitive business practices to maintain its dominan..

WWE Bringing In Two More Former Stars For Royal Rumble

They need more people. We are less than a month away from the Royal Rumble and the show’s two thirty person Royal Rumble matches are starting to fill up. There are only so many people on the active WWE roster to fill in those spots, meaning they might need to bring in some replacements. Now we might know who two more of those people are going to be.
According to PWInsider Elite, Cameron and Melina are likely returning to WWE to compete in the women’s Royal Rumble. Should the two of them be included, they would bring the total entrants in the women’s match 21, leaving nine spots remaining. There is nothing to indicate that either would be more than a one off appearance. Cameron and Melina’s most recent WWE matches took place in 2016 and 2011 respectively.
This could be an important move for the match. Check out what the two can do in the ring and what a women’s Royal Rumble looks like:

WATCH: AJ Styles Isn’t Done After This Week’s NXT Ended

They aren’t quite done. WWE gets a lot of television time every single week and a lot of it is spent on the matches themselves. There is quite a bit more to it than that though, as wrestling often involves a good deal of talking. Sometimes that is the most important thing that you can see, and that is why there was more talking to be said after one of this week’s TV shows ended.
WWE has released a video from after this week’s edition of NXT went off the air, showing AJ Styles and LA Knight in the ring. Styles praised Knight for being a great star in NXT, with Knight saying that he was just getting started with Grayson Waller and praising Styles for defeating him. This week’s show was headlined by Styles defeating Waller and Knight returning after missing a few weeks due to Waller attacking him.
It was a busy night. Check out what happened after the show, and how it ended:

WRESTLING RUMORS: Injury Takes Place Before This Week’s NXT

That’s never good to hear. Injuries are one of the true constants in wrestling as any wrestler can be hurt at any time. It can make for some terrible moments, as you might see someone go down after almost nothing seemed to be going wrong. There have been several in recent weeks, and now we have another one with a slightly bigger member of a roster.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, fans in attendance have reported that Odyssey Jones was injured during a match for this week’s 205 Live. While the nature of his injury was not disclosed, the match included a “weird” finish and Jones was helped to the back. Jones’ most recent televised appearance took place on the December 28 edition of NXT, when he lost to Grayson Waller.
Jones is quite the force. Check out what he can do in the ring:
