Wrestler Appears On WWE And AEW TV In The Same Week

Double payday. The wrestling world has changed quite a bit, as there is now more content available than ever before. One of the biggest reasons for this is the arrival of AEW, which has become the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world in just a few years of existence. The company allows wrestlers another place to go, and that was certainly the case for a specific wrestler this week.
Independent wrestler Leo Sparrow appeared on both WWE Monday Night Raw and AEW Rampage this week. Sparrow wrestled in a loss to Omos on Monday Night Raw and appeared in a music video from the Acclaimed on Rampage. Sparrow shared a photo of both appearances on Twitter. This is not the first time someone has done this, as Kelsey Heather did the same in July 2021.

Not Their Style: WWE Trashes Violence On AEW Programming

I guess they aren’t fans. There are a lot of different ways to present a wrestling match and some of them are a bit more intense. Occasionally you will see a match get a lot more violent than others, which may or may not be a good thing. You will occasionally see bloodshed during a match, which is not everyone’s cup of tea. That was apparent this week.
The Toronto Star has published an article comparing WWE and AEW programming. The article looks at the television ratings for WWE SmackDown and AEW Dynamite, noting that the numbers are getting closer and citing AEW’s edgier content. WWE sent in a statement for the piece, criticizing AEW’s content, particularly the street fight between the Bunny/Penelope Ford and Anna Jay/Tay Conti while promoting its own more family friendly product. Here is WWE’s statement:
“If you look at the gory self-mutilation that bloodied several women in the December 31 event on TNT, it quickly becomes clear that these are very different businesses. We had an e..

More Details On Sunny’s Arrest, Threatened To Kill Partner With Scissors

That sounds very wrong. Every now and then, you hear about a wrestler doing something that is not going to be very well accepted. Sometimes it is a situation that winds up being an embarrassment, but there are other instances that go all the way into criminal. Unfortunately that was the case earlier this week and now we know a lot more about the incident.
Earlier this week, news broke of WWE legend Tammy Sytch, better known as Sunny, being arrested over terroristic threats. According to TMZ, Sytch threatened to kill a man with a pair of scissors, as seen by a police officer. Sytch was said to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but the man was unharmed in the incident. According to PWInsider.com, Sytch was released from custody on Friday, but is required to make weekly check-ins with the court.
Opinion: I’m not sure what to even say about Sytch these days as it is clear that she needs some kind of serious help as this is not working. It seems that she cannot go very long with..

WWE’s Paige Makes Surprise Appearance At Independent Show

There’s a guest star. There are a lot of people working for WWE and not all of them are active wrestlers. Some of them are not around very often but still have a place in the company whenever they are needed. However, sometimes you see a WWE star pop up elsewhere, which was the case this weekend in a situation you might not have expected them to be.
This weekend, Zicky Dice’s Outlandish Paradise took place in Canton, Georgia, with Dice vs. Evil Uno serving as the main event. According to Wrestlinginc.com, the show featured a segment between Dice and WWE Hall of Famer Madusa. Dice insulted Madusa, resulting in Madusa bringing up a Twitch video feed of WWE’s Paige. This led to Paige cutting a promo on Uno and telling fans to vote on what kind of match Dice and Uno should have. Uno went on to defeat Dice in a Barely Legal Circus of Evil match.
Paige is still under contract to WWE but rarely makes appearances. She was forced to retire from the ring due to a series of neck injuries and ha..

WATCH: What Happened After WWE SmackDown Ended

It was a busy night. We are less than two weeks away from the Royal Rumble and the card has mostly come together. In addition to the show’s two namesake matches, there are some other huge showdowns set for the show. That includes a pair of World Title matches and one of them received some special attention after the cameras stopped rolling this week.
This week’s edition of SmackDown ended with Seth Rollins running away from an attack at the hands of the Usos and Roman Reigns. Following the show going off the air, Reigns and Rollins continued to tease a fight but never got around to it, as the Usos attacked Rollins again. A video of the confrontation has been uploaded to Twitter and according to 411mania.com, a six man tag followed, with Rollins and the Viking Raiders defeating Roman Reigns and the Usos.
It was quite the moment. Check out what happened after SmackDown went off the air:

Update On Contract Status For Several AEW Wrestlers

Stick around for a bit. AEW has not been around for very long but they have made a huge impact on the wrestling business. That is the kind of thing that you do not get to see someone do very often but they have made it work in a short amount of time. The company has been fueled by its talented roster, and now some of them will be sticking around even longer.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, all of the original AEW talent contracts have already expired, meaning that any wrestler who was with the company at its launch in 2019 has signed a new deal had their contract extended by AEW. Several names have already announced signing new deals, including Scorpio Sky and the Young Bucks. There is no word on when any of the new deals will expire, or which wrestlers AEW is not interested in keeping.
It would make sense for AEW to want to keep some of these wrestlers. Check out some of their bigger names:

REVIEW: Royal Rumble 2008: The Big Surprise

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Royal Rumble 2008
Date: January 27, 2008
Location: Madison Square Garden, New York City New York
Attendance: 20,798

This was the other request so let’s throw up a triple shot this year. The big story here is Jeff Hardy challenging Randy Orton for the Raw World Title. This was set up incredibly well with Hardy being set up as the ultimate underdog who might be able to pull off the miracle. The fans believe in him and it’s an abs..

AEW Tried To Bring In WWE Hall Of Famer For Huge Match At All Out

That could have been huge. AEW has shaken up the wrestling world in a huge way and that is something that has been needed for a long time now. Above all else, at least for the sake of the wrestlers, it allows them a new place to go on the big stage. That is something that has been lacking for a long time now, and a WWE legend was in discussions to jump over to the new company.
According to Fightful Select, AEW was in discussions with WWE Hall of Famer Lita to have her come into the company for a feud with Britt Baker. The match would have eventually taken place at last year’s All Out, but the two sides were unable to come to terms. However, the discussions did end on a positive note and there was a chance that Lita could work for AEW in the future. Lita appeared on this week’s WWE SmackDown and will be participating in the Royal Rumble later this month.
That could have been huge. Check out the two of them, including Lita’s return to WWE:

You Might Not Be Seeing An AEW Star For A Little While

Be back later. There are a lot of talented wrestlers on the AEW roster and some of them have stood out in a big way in the company’s short history. It has been great to see a lot of these wrestlers develop and become that much better in an AEW rung. One of the better stars has been taking a beating lately and now it might be a long time before you see her again.
This week on AEW Dynamite, Serena Deeb defeated Hikaru Shida in a short match, injuring Shida’s knee in the process. The match was stopped due to Shida’s injuries, with Deeb being awarded the win. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Shida will be returning to Japan “for a while” after the injury angle on Dynamite. There is no word on how long Shida will be out of action and nothing to suggest Shida has any injury issues.
Shida has been one of the top stars in AEW to date. Check out some of her time in the company so far:

Here Is WWE’s Original Plan For The Main WrestleMania 38 Matches

That’s a big card. With WrestleMania 38 about two and a half months away, it is time to start getting ready for the show. The fans are going to be finding out the major matches in the near future, but WWE should have known what they have planned for quite a while. The show is starting to come together, and now we know what they originally had set for the show.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Sasha Banks had suffered a foot injury, which would put her on the shelf for 6-8 weeks. That would put her back in the ring in mid-March, which according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, might cause her planned match with Charlotte to be changed. This was said to be one of the four major matches at WrestleMania, along with:
Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair Seth Rollins vs. Royal Rumble Winner (most likely Big E.) It is not clear if these matches are still on the schedule.
That could be a big card. Check out what we might be seeing:

WWE Attorney Responds To Lawsuit Filed By Major League Wrestling

Now it’s WWE’s turn. WWE is the biggest wrestling promotions in the world and that brings a lot of benefits. The company has more money, more resources, more notoriety and more power than any other promotion in the world. At the same time though, it means that they are going to be a target for some other companies, which has led to a recent lawsuit against them. Now though, WWE has something to say.
Earlier this week, news broke that Major League Wrestling (MLW) had sued WWE for anti-trust violations. MLW claims that WWE caused the company to lose a streaming deal with Tubi as well as pressuring VICE TV from airing MLW content. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt has commented on the lawsuit, saying that while he had not seen the lawsuit, MLW had no one to blame but themselves. Here are his comments:
“I have not seen the full lawsuit since WWE has not been served. If Tubi breached, then sue Tubi. As to Vice, WWE has no commercial relationship w..

Welcome Back: Jon Moxley’s Return To The Ring Officially Announced

Welcome back. There are a lot of reasons a wrestler might miss time from the ring. It might be due to a wrestler needing a break or it might be an injury, but sometimes it could be something a lot more serious. That was the case with one of the biggest stars in AEW, who needed to take some time off to deal with some personal issues. Now though, we know when he is returning to the ring.
Back in November 2021, AEW’s Jon Moxley entered a rehabilitation center for alcohol related issued. As a result, he has been absent from the ring and television ever since. Now though, Game Changer Wrestling has announced that Moxley will be returning to the ring to defend the GCW World Title against Homicide on January 23. There is no word on when Moxley will be returning to AEW television.
