They Had A Nice Day: Mick Foley Married Two Wrestlers Last Weekend

That’s a side job. With such packed schedules, wrestlers rarely have that much free time on their hands. Whether it is wrestling for a national promotion or being on the road with a variety of independent companies, wrestling is a very time demanding job. It makes free time that much more valuable, especially for major events. One took place over the weekend though, with a wrestling legend playing a major role.
As previously reported, former WWE stars Keith Lee and Mia Yim got married last weekend. According to 411mania.com, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley officiated the ceremony, as he had offered to do months ago. Lee thanked Foley for his service, with Foley saying it was his honor. Neither Yim nor Lee have wrestled since leaving WWE in November 2021, but Lee is rumored as a possible (yet unconfirmed) AEW signing.
A plethora of thanks @RealMickFoley. Shout should you ever require me.

It was an honor, my friend.

Here’s Why Jeff Hardy Turned Down WWE’s Hall Of Fame Offer

That’s a no then. WWE has had a lot of stars over the years and some of them have done rather well during their time with the company. While several of them have won championships, a smaller number have been enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame. For WWE stars, it is perhaps the greatest honor possible and WWE inducts a class every year. That will not be the case for one star this year and he has a very specific reason.
Last year, Jeff Hardy walked out on WWE during a match at a live event. Hardy has yet to appear for another wrestling promotion since, though according to his brother Matt, Jeff turned down an offer to return to WWE. The offer included an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, which Jeff declined. Matt discussed Jeff’s decision during a recent Twitch stream, saying that Jeff turned the offer down because it was a solo induction rather than the Hardys team. Jeff asked about inducting the Hardys as a team, but Matt was not allowed due to his AEW contract.
Opinion: That is a r..

Here’s The Backstage Incident That Had Randy Orton On The Floor Laughing

Anything can happen in WWE. There are a lot of shows on the WWE calendar in any given year but there are some that stand out more than others. WWE has a series of signature shows that are bigger than the rest and as a result, they will have bigger stars around. While the shows can be planned out as well as possible, sometimes there are going to be some issues. That was the case with one of the most important ones this year.
According to Fightful Select, there was a mishap backstage during the men’s Royal Rumble. Randy Orton was scheduled to enter the match at #28 but as he was ready to go through the curtain, Shane McMahon’s music played instead. McMahon went to the curtain to complain about the mistake but Orton burst into laughter and “fell to the floor” over the situation. McMahon entered at #28 and Orton composed himself before entering at #29. Both would be eliminated by Brock Lesnar, the match’s eventual winner.
Opinion: This is one of those things that happens occasionally and..

WATCH: Former WWE World Champion Makes Surprise NXT Appearance

Welcome to the team? With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it makes sense to split them into some groups. That is exactly what WWE has done, as the roster is split up between Monday Night Raw, SmackDown and the two NXT’s. You do not often see the rosters interacting with each other or wrestlers crossing over, but it does happen every now and then. That was the case again this week.
This week’s edition of NXT featured a surprise appearance from Monday Night Raw star Dolph Ziggler. NXT Champion Bron Breakker and #1 contender Santos Escobar were in the ring when Ziggler interrupted to talk to Breakker. Ziggler talked about his accomplishments in WWE and said that he might take Breakker’s title. Breakker said Ziggler could have the next title shot after Escobar, which led to Tommaso Ciampa coming to the ring. Ciampa said that he would be getting the next shot and brawled with Ziggler.
The appearance came after Ziggler and Breakker have traded shots online, which included Breakker tel..

A Closer Look: WWE Tried Something Brand New This Week On Television

They tried something new. WWE has been around for a very long time and that they are going to have more than a few different ways to present their product. One of the most important ideas is how well the matches are shot. Some of these methods are going to be a bit more notable than others and sometimes WWE will mix things up a little bit. That is what they tried again this week.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE used a different production technique during this week’s edition of NXT. This week’s show featured a camera operator in the ring with the wrestlers, who had to move around the camera operator instead. The new technique was used during the Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Creed Brothers match among others. There is no word on if this is something that will be done on a regular basis going forward.
Opinion: I don’t know if this is going to make that much of a difference in the broadcast, but it is a nice idea to see WWE trying something, even anything, new. The shows feel like they h..

WRESTLING RUMOR: WrestleMania 38 Card Shaken Up By Shane McMahon’s Departure

They need something new. We are less than two months away from WrestleMania 38 and that means things are starting to come together. That is in theory at least, as WWE has a tendency to change their plans at a fairly rapid pace. It seems that is the case this year, as WWE has changed up the show’s card all over again, which means that they need to come up with something new.
Shortly after this year’s WWE Royal Rumble, WWE sent Shane McMahon home from the company over some issues with how he tried to produce the Royal Rumble match. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, McMahon was going to be in a match near the top of the card. As a result, WWE needs a new “major attraction” match, which is still to be determined. The card is said to still be “in complete flux”.
Source states the spot Shane McMahon was going to have on the WrestleMania card was to be positioned near the top. Therefore, WWE now needs a new “major attraction” matchup outside of the titles. This goes w/o saying,..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Had Some Specific Rules About Mickie James’ Appearance

That is rather specific. While WWE tends to dominate the wrestling landscape, there are several other wrestling promotions in the world. Some of them are rather established and have been around for a long time. These other promotions have some major names and talents who have been around for a long time. It is rather rare to see WWE interact with them, but it does happen occasionally. However, it seems that WWE had some specific rules in place about one such interaction.
Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James appeared in this year’s women’s Royal Rumble match. James wore her Knockouts Title to the ring and was acknowledged as being part of the Impact Wrestling. According to Will Washington on Fightful Grapsody, while WWE brought James in, there were several rules about her appearance. These included being allowed to say “Impact” but not “Impact Wrestling”, or use the term “World” or “Knockouts”. The idea was that WWE does not use the terms “wrestling”, “world” or James’ chyr..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – February 8, 2022

NXT
Date: February 8, 2022
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett
We are a week away from Vengeance Day but there is another title match to get through first. This week will see Mandy Rose defending the Women’s Title against Kay Lee Ray in a match that seems likely to have some shenanigans. Other than that, we continue the men’s Dusty Classic while trying to find a field for the women’s version. Let’s get to it.
The opening video features Mandy Rose talking about all of her success and demands to be taken serious.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semifinals: Grizzled Young veterans vs. Creed Brothers The Creeds break up the Veterans’ trash talking entrance and start the fight fast. That means Gibson gets beaten down inside as the brothers get to take turns on him. Brutus suplexes Julius onto Gibson but a cheap shot allows the tag to Drake. Julius runs Drake over without much trouble and isn’t fooled as Gibson comes in off a blind tag..

WWE Seems To Be Introducing New Show

Add it to the schedule? WWE has a lot of content at any give time and that can make for some difficult situations. The company has to find a way to fill in all of that time and sometimes it is a little bit more difficult to come up with something new. There are all kinds of shows that are on the regular WWE calendar, but they do add in a fresh one every now and then. Now we might be seeing another one.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE has filed a new trademark for “Sunday Stunner”, which will be a new wrestling show of some kind. It is not clear if the show will be a new pay per view or a regular television show. WWE has not acknowledged the show or promoted it in any way. This comes less than a month after WWE trademarked some former WCW event names for future use.
Opinion: I’m not sure what Sunday Stunner will be for but it wouldn’t shock me to see it as something like a Saudi Arabia show or a new NXT event. Sunday Stunner is not exactly a great or inspiring name, but WWE does not e..

Interesting Note On WWE’s Efforts To Appease FOX

They have people to please. WWE knows how to make more money than they know what to do with most of the time and that has certainly been the case as of late. The company has a group of major income sources, with their television deals near the top of the list. Those deals keep WWE profitable every year and that means WWE is going to want to do what they can to keep them around. It seems they have been doing it even more as of late.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has been going out of its way to make FOX happy. This is because WWE feels FOX does not need them, as SmackDown’s audiences are lower than FOX’s averages. As a result, WWE has put several bigger names on SmackDown, including Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte. There is nothing to suggest that FOX will be dropping WWE or changing their time slot. WWE began a five year deal with FOX in September 2019.
Opinion: What matters here is that WWE seems to be making FOX happy. While WWE might not be drawing the same n..

Monday Night Raw Star And NXT Champion Continue To Tease Title Match

That could be beneficial. WWE has shaken up NXT so much in recent months that it is barely recognizable. The show has lost so many wrestlers and undergone so many changes, mainly over its roster. The new NXT roster is nothing like it was before, with some of the new names already standing out. Now one of them seems ready for some bigger competition from the main WWE rosters.
Last week, Monday Night Raw’s Dolph Ziggler spoke about NXT Champion Bron Breakker, saying that he might come to NXT and take the championship from him. Breakker has since responded, saying that Ziggler can have the next title shot after Santos Escobar, whose title shot is scheduled for February 15 at Vengeance Day. There is no word on if Ziggler will be appearing in NXT or if the title match will take place.
This could be interesting. Check out what has happened between Ziggler and Breakker:

REVIEW: Elimination Chamber 2018: Wrap It Up Already

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Elimination Chamber 2018
Date: February 25, 2018
Location: T-Mobile Arena, Paradise, Nevada
Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Jonathan Coachman
We’re only two stops away from Wrestlemania now because it just wouldn’t be right to not squeeze in a pair of pay per views between the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania. Tonight is a show of pretty predictable endings but at least the Elimination Chamber matches themselves should be a lot of fun. Let’s get to it.
