New WWE Champion Crowned At Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania Main Event Set

He did it again. With about six weeks to go until WrestleMania 38, it is time to really start hammering the card home. That can be easier said than done, but there is still time to get the show ready. That includes getting the title matches ready, including both of the men’s World Title showdowns. Now it seems that we have another match set for the biggest shows of the year.
This weekend, Brock Lesnar won the WWE Title inside the men’s Elimination Chamber at the event of the same name. Lesnar last eliminated Austin Theory to win the title, after reigning champion Bobby Lashley was injured during the match and never officially entered. This sets up Lesnar, the men’s Royal Rumble winner, for a champion vs. champion match with Universal Champion Roman Reigns, though it is not clear if one or both titles will be on the line.
Opinion: The Lashley aspect does give them an out, but I’m almost scared to see how the title match goes. WWE has not done the best job of building up extra people o..

Another WrestleMania 38 Title Match Is Set

Add it to the card. We are six weeks away from WrestleMania 38 and that means WWE is starting to set things up for the show. WWE has a lot of time to fill in for the show, but they do already have some of the bigger matches set up. There are still some major title matches and main events to be set up, but now it seems that they have another important part of the card covered.
This weekend at WWE Elimination Chamber, Bianca Belair won the women’s Elimination Chamber match, earning the right to challenge for the Raw Women’s Title at WrestleMania. Later in the show, Becky Lynch retained the Raw Women’s Title, setting up a rematch with Belair. Lynch returned at Summerslam and took the title from Belair in an impromptu match in less than thirty seconds.
Opinion: This is the logical way to go as Belair has unfinished business with Lynch from Summerslam. That is something that we should be getting on the big stage and Belair getting her win and title back would be a good way to go. Belair i..

Elimination Chamber 2022

Location: Jeddah Super Dome, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

We’re back on the other side of the world this time and the card is pretty stacked. There are two Elimination Chamber matches to go with three women’s matches as we get ready for Wrestlemania. That could go in more than one direction and the show seems a bit more interesting as a result. Let’s get to it.
Kickoff Show: Miz vs. Rey Mysterio Dominik Mysterio is here with Rey. Miz knocks him down to start and hits the early posing on the ropes. Back up and Rey headscissors him into 619 position but Miz isn’t quite ready for that. Instead Rey knocks him to the floor for the sliding splash, setting off a 619 chant. Dominik sends Miz back inside but he breaks up something from Rey on the top. They head outside again with Miz sending him into the barricade, setting up the running kick to the face back inside.

Elimination Chamber 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s time to head back halfway around the world as WWE is returning to Saudi Arabia. This time is a little different though, as the show will feature the Elimination Chamber rather than some generically titles event. The card could look a lot worse as there are three women’s matches and two Elimination Chamber matches, including one match where those two categories cross over. Let’s get to it.
Miz vs. Rey Mysterio We’ll start with the match voted Most Likely To Be Demoted To The Kickoff Show as these two are fighting over Miz’s treatment of Dominik Mysterio. Yeah that’s a pretty lame reason to have the match but that has never stopped WWE from setting something up. This feels like a feud that has some legs to it and hopefully that could be a good thing, though it kind of hinges on the first match.
I’ll take Miz to win here, as it should give you a reason to get to Miz vs. Dominik. That might not be the most interesting match but it is something that we have to do at some point. WWE s..

REVIEW: Unforgiven 2007: Guess Who’s Back (Again)

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

We’re in that weird period where we have a lot of Summerslam rematches and some of them are a bit more interesting than others. There are a few interesting possibilities though, as Undertaker is returning to face Mark Henry and Randy Orton is getting another WWE Title shot at a furious John Cena. Let’s get to it.

Important Return Updates On Two Injured WWE Stars

Welcome back. There are a lot of reasons why a wrestler might miss time from the ring and some of them are a lot more serious than others. You never know when you might see someone be put out of action for a long time and that was the case for a pair of prominent WWE stars when they went on the shelf with injuries. Now we have a better time table for their returns.
According to PWInsider, both Bayley and Asuka are expected to return to WWE within the next month and a half. Asuka is expected to return by the end of February, though it is not entirely certain that she will be cleared in time. She has been out of action since July following shoulder surgery. As for Bayley, she is expected to return in late March after tearing her ACL. She has not wrestled since June after undergoing surgery.
Opinion: That’s some very good news and I’m glad to hear that both of them will be back sooner rather than later. Both women’s divisions could use a boost and these two could certainly provide one. ..

WWE Bringing Back Saturday Night’s Main Event (In A Different Way)

From back in the day. There is so much WWE programming in a given week that it can be pretty difficult to keep track of everything. That is the case at the moment, as WWE has four shows on television alone and ignoring all of their streaming shows. Some of them are a lot more important than others, but now WWE might be bringing back one of the most important shows of all time, but not as it seems.
WWE is bringing back Saturday Night’s Main Event as a pair of live event specials. The shows will take place on April 23 in Montgomery, Alabama and on April 30 in Lakeland, Florida. There is no word on if WWE will be filming these shows for future release or if these are merely special live events. Saturday Night’s Main Event ran for thirty eight episodes from 1985-2008.
Opinion: This sounds like something that is just happening as a special live event and that is perfectly fine. WWE did the same thing with Starrcade a few years ago and it was a cool thing to see. I’m not sure if this is go..

AEW Might Be Bringing In Three More Former WWE Stars

Welcome to the fold? There are certain things in wrestling that get your attention in a hurry and one of the best things is seeing someone come over from another promotion. This can make for some great moments as someone can make an impact straight out of the box after not being given such a chance elsewhere. That has been the case with several former WWE stars coming to WWE, and now we might be seeing it in three more cases.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, three former WWE stars are likely to come to AEW soon, while a third is a possibility. The two who are expected to be debuting soon are Jeff hardy and Shane Strickland (formerly known as Isaiah Swerve Scott in WWE). Buddy Matthews, formerly known as Buddy Murphy in WWE, maybe brought in as well, as previously reported. There is no word on when any of the three might debut.
Opinion: Hardy is no surprise whatsoever and has been expected for a long time now. Matthews is a name that has been rumored as well in recent w..

Another WWE Tag Team May Have Already Split Up

They’re already done? WWE has a weird history with tag teams, as they have presented several different teams over the years but a good many of them have split up. The company has a fascination with putting two people together for the sake of splitting them up again for a feud of some kind. That might be the case again, even though the team was not together that long in the first place.
This week on SmackDown, Ricochet beat Sheamus in the show’s opening match. Sheamus lost the match after a failed distraction from his protege and tag partner, Ridge Holland. Following the match, Sheamus shoved Holland down before leaving on his own. While not confirmed, this could suggest that the two are on their way to splitting up. Holland has been Sheamus’ protege since he debuted on SmackDown in the fall of last year.
Opinion: I hope WWE doesn’t go with this so soon as it isn’t like Sheamus and Holland have some kind of a long history together. Maybe WWE just wants Holland on his own sooner rather..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE May Be Running Another Big Show On WrestleMania Saturday

They have a spot available. We are about six weeks away from WrestleMania 38 and the show is already starting to come together. Once Elimination Chamber is out of the way, we should be good to go for the final stretch of the Road To WrestleMania. These are some of the most important shows of the year for WWE, but another branch of the company has something to look forward to as well.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE is planning to run NXT Stand & Deliver from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday April 2. The show would be held at 11AM local time (12PM EST), or six hours before the start of WrestleMania 38. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the show’s main event would see NXT Champion Bron Breakker defending against Dolph Ziggler. WWE has yet to announce the show.
NXT TakeOver Stand & Deliver is scheduled for Saturday morning April 2nd from the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Local start time of 11am. Long day for fans who will attend Ma..

SmackDown Results – February 18, 2022

Smackdown
Date: February 18, 2022
Location: Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, Louisiana
Commentators: Corey Graves, Michael Cole
We’re taped this week as the roster is in Saudi Arabia for this weekend’s Elimination Chamber. That can make for some interesting shows as the crowd might have to be brought into things a bit more. It’s also the go home show for Elimination Chamber, meaning we are probably in for a lot of hype. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Adam Pearce is in the ring for a contract signing for Charlotte/Sonya Deville vs. Ronda Rousey/Naomi. Everyone comes to the ring and Sonya says she knows how to do this. They immediately start arguing and yelling over each other, because that’s how women interact in WWE. Sonya and Charlotte both sign but Naomi threatens to turn the table over if they don’t stop stalling.
Hold on though because Sonya has a stipulation. A few days ago, Rousey said that she could beat Sonya with one arm tied behind her back, so that’s what she is go..

There Goes The Gold: Title Change Takes Place On WWE SmackDown

History has been made! Titles are one of the easiest concepts to understand in all of wrestling. You have one wrestler holding a championship and someone else wants it. That sets up a title match where one person emerges with the championship and you go in whatever direction you want to head. It is something that has worked for the better part of ever and that was the case again this week.
Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to win the Intercontinental Title this week on SmackDown. The win makes Zayn a three time Intercontinental Champion and gives him his first reign since December 2020. The title change comes after Zayn has claimed a conspiracy against him, which included him being stripped of the title in 2022. Nakamura’s had held the title for over 180 days, winning it on August 13, 2021.
Opinion: They had to change the title here as Nakamura had held the thing for six months without doing much of anything with it. Zayn has his conspiracy theory deal and this is as good of a pay..
