And NEW: Multiple Titles Change Hands At NXT In Your House

Two please. There are a lot of titles under the WWE banner and some of them are among the best known championships in the industry. A championship changing hands can be a very important moment for someone, as it can mean the first major win of a wrestler’s career or a step back up after being knocked down. That was the case this weekend, as two titles changed hands in one night.
There were two title changes on Saturday night at NXT In Your House. First up, Carmelo Hayes defeated Cameron Grimes to win the NXT North American Title. Grimes had won the title from Hayes in a five man ladder match at Stand & Deliver. Next, the Creed Brothers defeated Pretty Deadly to win the NXT Tag Team Titles for the first time. Had the Brothers lost, they would have been out of the Diamond Mine. NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction, NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Champion Bron Breakker all retained their titles.
Opinion: You need to have something like this take place to make a show ..

NXT In Your House 2022 Live Coverage And Results

NXT In Your House 2022
Date: June 4, 2022
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph
We’re back with another special show as NXT gets in on another WWE pay per view weekend. This time around they’re dusting off another classic with In Your House, which has very little to do with what we’ll be seeing. The card is fairly short but there are five titles being defended, making it pretty stacked at the same time. Let’s get to it.
The opening video is based on the old In Your House intros, complete with Todd Pettingill doing the voiceover to run down the card. Joe Gacy gets to come through the house’s door and lights a poster on fire.
Legado del Fantasma vs. Tony D’Angelo/Stacks/Two Dimes The losing team has to join the winners. During Legado’s entrance, the referee finds a crowbar, which seems to have been planted by D’Angelo and company. We also get a video with Tony Gallante narrating about how this is about controlling the streets and i..

Opinion: This Is Tony Khan & AEW’s Sink Or Swim Moment

It has not been a good week for All Elite Wrestling. Coming out of their recent Double or Nothing pay-per-view, many questions were raised about AEW and their business practices and how things were handled behind the scenes by Tony Khan. With all the controversy surrounding MJF and now with the confusion about their world championship, one thing is evident to me.
In my opinion, this is a sink or swim moment for Tony Khan and the future of AEW.
Allow me to be very clear and transparent: I am unabashedly and openly not a fan of AEW and haven’t been since the beginning. I believe that Khan has no idea how to run a wrestling company, does not understand the business aspect of it, and his product is nothing but spot fests, blood and deathmatch type matches, and trying to get their small fan base to mark out for every little thing that they do. They have NO IDEA how to tell a story, except for a couple of performers (MJF, CM Punk).
As a result, some of my opinions may seem biased. However..

Main Event For Clash At The Castle Appears To Be Set

This makes sense. On this past week’s episode of Smackdown, the main event for the upcoming Clast At The Castle premium live event appeared to be set.
During the show, Drew McIntyre announced that he would be challenging for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship in the show’s main event. At this time, he would be taking on Roman Reigns, should things stay how they are now. While this has not been made official yet, it is expected to be done so.
Clash At The Castle will be the first time WWE has held a pay-per-view in the UK in 30 years. The last show in a significant stadium was SummerSlam ’92 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
McIntyre had missed the last couple of weeks of WWE programming, as he was in the UK doing promotional work for the event.
Editor’s Opinion:
This makes all of the sense in the world to me, and I think it was assumed by most people that this would end up being the main event. It had been rumored that McIntyre and Reigns were on a collision course at some point..

That’s Two: Another AEW Champion Suffers An Injury This Week

That’s never good. Injuries are the kind of thing that can slow down any wrestler no matter what they are doing. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt for either a short or longer amount of time but either can be devastating to whatever they are doing. That seems to be the case again to a reigning champion, though things could always be worse.
AEW TNT Champion Scorpio Sky has sent out a tweet revealing that he suffered an injury during his successful title defense against Dante Martin on this week’s Rampage. Sky said that he started the match with his knee bothering him, but then strained a muscle in his leg in the opening minutes. The injury left his right leg “useless”, though he did finish the match. Sky also said that he hopes it is nothing serious and that he is able to return to the ring soon.
I went into last nights match with my knee bothering me and unfortunately in the opening minutes I strained a muscle that goes from my knee up through my groin. My rig..

WWE Isn’t Sure When Roman Reigns Will Have His Next Title Defense

They might want to work on that. Titles are the easiest concept to understand in wrestling, as any fan can get the idea of someone holding a shiny belt. Someone holding a title means that they are the best around and people are coming for you. That can set up some major matches, but now it might be a little while before that happens again with the top title in WWE.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has yet to make up its mind on when WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will next defend his title. The company is considering having him defend at either Money In The Bank on July 2 or at Summerslam on July 30. Reigns has been Universal Champion since August 30, 2020 and won the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 in April.
Opinion: I know WWE is enjoying the idea of pushing Reigns as the be all and end all of stars today, but I’m still not feeling this idea of several months with no title defenses. At that point, why bother having him as champion if he isn’t ..

NXT In Your House 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

This is the kind of show that NXT needs every now and then and thankfully they haven’t gone too nuts and done them every month. At some point you need to have a big, special show and this time around you have a fairly stacked show. Granted the main event might not be the most exciting, but at least the show is taking place. Let’s get to it.
Women’s Tag Team Titles: Toxic Attraction(c) vs. Katana Chance/Kayden Carter This is one of those matches that is made a bit more interesting by the fact that Toxic Attraction has lost the titles before. As a result, it means that another loss is not out of the question, which opens up some doors. Granted I don’t know how wide those doors are, but at least there is an option. Toxic Attraction has held the titles longer than anyone in history, with their reigns lasting all but three days since late October. That’s quite the target and that should be a good thing here.
I’ll go with Chance/Carter to win here, as they are one of the only women’s teams..

REVIEW: Hell In A Cell 2018: Lock Them Up

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

Welcome to the first show of the three that WWE is currently building. In this case we have the show designed around carnage and that could mean a few things. The show hasn’t exactly blown me away on paper but maybe they’ll surprise me here. There are two matches inside the big red cage tonight so let’s get to it.

WRESTLING RUMORS: Pretty Bad Sign For WWE’s SmackDown Roster

That’s kind of a problem. WWE has a very talented roster with all kinds of wrestlers, with many of them appearing on television on a regular basis. Those stars are some of the biggest in the world and in WWE terms, are considered household names. However, it seems that some of them are not doing so well and that can be seen in part of an upcoming card.
This weekend, WWE will be presenting its annual Hell In A Cell pay per view. Coming into this week’s SmackDown, the show had six matches scheduled with no SmackDown wrestlers on the card. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, the lack of SmackDown stars is an indictment on the perceived star power of the show’s wrestlers. There is no word on how WWE might change things going forward. A SmackDown match between Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss was added to the show this week on SmackDown.
The lack of SmackDown matches currently advertised for this weekends Hell In A Cell event speaks volumes. It’s an indictment on the roster a sourc..

WWE’s Liv Morgan Has Landed A Pretty Impressive Acting Role

It’s a gig. There are various similarities between wrestling and acting, as both involve putting on a performance. While wrestlers are often described as acting, it isn’t quite the same thing as having a director yell ACTION and performing your scene. That being said, there are enough similarities that wrestlers often try to get in on acting, which is the case again with a WWE star.
According to Deadline.com, WWE star Liv Morgan is expected to make her film debut in the upcoming comedic thriller The Kill Room, staring Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman. The film focuses on a money laundering scheme involving art, with Morgan playing “an art purist who bemoans the vapidness of art dealers.” There is no word on what the film will premiere or how big of a part Morgan will have.
Opinion: Good for Morgan for landing something like this. That is a bit more than some part in a B level movie as there are some stars involved with this. I’m not sure how well Morgan will do in acting, but congra..

Stokely Hathaway Turned Down A Lot Of Money To Jump From WWE To AEW

How much? WWE and AEW have distanced themselves from the field and become the two biggest and most powerful wrestling promotions in America. The companies both have a strong field of talent but they are also always needing to bring in someone new or fresh. That can lead to some interesting signings, and now we know what one star gave up to be able to move.
Former NXT manager Stokely Hathaway, also known as Malcolm Bivens in NXT, made his AEW debut last Sunday at Double Or Nothing. This came thirty days after he was released from his NXT contract, making him a free agent. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hathaway was offered a $250,000 contract to move up to the WWE main roster, feeling that he could get a better offer elsewhere. Hathaway has since begun working with Jade Cargill in AEW.
Opinion: That is a heck of a lot of money to turn down, but Hathaway has already seemed to be having more fun in AEW than he did in NXT. I can’t imagine how well it would have gone for ..

AEW Champion Reportedly Unhappy With Lack Of TV Time

Can you blame her? AEW has come a very long way in a relatively short time and are regularly running two television series every week. That is a tricky situation to pull off but the company manages to make it work on a regular basis. Things might not be as easy as they seem though, as one of the company’s more prominent wrestlers is not happy with how she is being presented.
According to Fightful Select, there has been some discussion of frustration backstage from AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa over her presence on AEW TV. Rosa is reportedly unhappy that her title has taken a backseat to Jade Cargill’s TBS Title and Mercedes Martinez’s Ring Of Honor Women’s Title. Rosa was not on this week’s edition of Dynamite, though this was reported to have been due to an illness.
Opinion: Can you blame Rosa for not being happy with things? She really is second to Cargill and probably also Britt Baker (I’m not sure I would say the same about Martinez) and that must be frustrating. Rosa is a ve..
