Ouch: Champions Forced To Vacate Titles Due To Injury, New Champions Crowned

History has been made, twice! There are a lot of titles under the WWE banner but some of them are not the most well known. With so many wrestlers spread across so many shows, it is not easy to build up every championship there is. This time though, some of the titles had to be vacated due to an injury, but now we have some new champions to keep the titles going.
Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter vacated the NXT UK Tag Team Titles this week as Smith has ruptured his MCL and will require surgery. As a result, a fatal four way match was held this week, with Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen winning the titles by defeating Mark Andrews/Wild Boar, Dave Mastiff/Jack Starz and Die Familie. Briggs and Jensen had been vying for a title shot before the match was made.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that has to be done every now and then and that is still not a good thing. At the end of the day, the champs were injured and someone needed to take their spot. Brooks and Jensen have some more star po..

WATCH: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins From Money in the Bank 2016

Believe In The Shield. WWE has released a new video on YouTube, in which they show the full match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins from the 2016 Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Dean Ambrose, who won the “Money in the Bank” briefcase earlier in the evening, would strike while the iron was hot, and cash in his contract to become the new champion.
You can see the match in its entirety below:

From WWE.com:
The Architect fought like a man looking to reclaim both his title and his pride, facing Reigns for the first time without The Authority or J&J Security ready to intervene on his behalf. Some early ring rust aside, Rollins quickly showed he still possessed the skills that took him to the top. But going toe-to-toe with “The Guy” proved to be a poor strategy when Reigns used his strength advantage to overpower his foe with clotheslines, headbutts and a tilt-a-whirl slam to the reeling Rollins.
The Architect remained defiant, if not compet..

REVIEW Bound For Glory 2019: Their Big One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Bound For Glory 2019
Date: October 20, 2019
Location: Odeum Expo Center, Villa Park, Illinois
Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews
It’s the biggest night of the year and that could mean a lot of things this time around. The main event will see World Champion Brian Cage defending the title against Sami Callihan in a match that was made personal when Callihan attacked Cage’s wife Melissa Santos. In addition, we have Ken Shamrock returning to the ring to face Moose because….star power I guess? Let get to it.

WATCH: Jim Duggan’s Inspirational Message About His Health Issues (This Is Great)

That’s the spirit. Wrestlers are larger than life characters that we watch every single week on TV. That can give us some different impressions of them, but ultimately they are regular people when the cameras go off. Unfortunately that includes serious problems that a lot of us go through, and now a wrestling legend is taking a different look at some of the issues that he is dealing with at the moment.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Duggan has posted a video to Twitter, talking about his recent health issues. Duggan is currently undergoing radiation to deal with prostate cancer but said that he is no longer going to feel sorry for himself. He talked about how glad he is to only have six weeks left of radiation treatment and how many people have it worse than he does. Duggan has had his prostate removed as well as beating kidney cancer in the 1990s.
This is a pretty awesome statement. Check out Duggan’s inspiration message:

What Could Have Been: NXT Star Turned Down Main Roster Spot For Special Reason

They had plans. There are several wrestling families throughout the industries and some of them are among the most famous names in the business. Various families have certain things that make them stand out, including wrestling moves, attire or something else. Adding a new member of the family can mean a lot and that was almost the case again last year.
During an interview with WWE On BT Sports, NXT’s Solo Sikoa revealed that WWE originally planned to bring him up to the main roster and pair him with his brothers the Usos. Sikoa turned down the offer though, saying he wanted to be on his own rather than part of the team. During the next meeting, WWE began to talk about him as a singles wrestler. Sikoa made his NXT debut in November 2021.
“I don't want to be referred to as their brother, their cousin, I want people to recognise me for me.”
“Before I debuted, they wanted to put me with the @WWEUsos, but they said 'let's see what you can do alone.'”@WWESoloSikoa on ..

It Keeps Going: Even More AEW Stars Out Of Action With Injuries

Add them to the list. There have been a variety of injuries throughout wrestling in recent weeks and some of them have been a lot more serious than others. AEW has been hit rather hard by the injury bug and unfortunately it seems that things are going to be worse. There are multiple new names on the injured list, plus one more wrestler who is working through an injury.
This week on AEW Dynamite, Stokely Hathaway announced that Red Velvet has suffered an undisclosed injury and will be out of action. In addition, the Bunny has announced that she is also dealing with an undisclosed injury and has not wrestled since April 20. Finally Buddy Matthews has revealed that he is dealing with a shoulder injury but will continue to work through it going forward.
I’m injured right now but I’ll be back in the ring once I’m all healed up ??? https://t.co/JSwMR1ibAQ

Rhea Ripley Reveals She Is Dealing With Multiple Health Issues

That’s an explanation. Wrestling is a physical sport and that means there is always the chance that someone can get hurt. There have been a lot of injuries over the years and some of them are more than a bit strange. That is kind of the case this time again, though in this case the wrestler has a pair of injuries, with one of them sounding a bit more serious than the other.
Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Bianca Belair announced that Rhea Ripley was not medically cleared to wrestle at Money in the Bank, meaning their Raw Women’s Title match was off. Ripley has since revealed via her Instagram by way of Wrestlinginc.com that she is suffering from both brain and teeth injuries. There is no word on what specifically is wrong or how long Ripley will be out. Carmella earned the right to challenge Belair instead.
Opinion: Both of these are serious issues and hopefully Ripley is back sooner rather than later. Either of them could be an issue that could keep Ripley on the shelf for a ..

Homecoming: Arena Advertising Return Of Top WWE Star

Welcome back? There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster today and some of them are among the biggest stars going in the wrestling world today. Those wrestlers are able to make quite the impact no matter what they are doing, but sometimes they are going to be away. What matters though is that those wrestlers get to come back at some point, which might be the case with a pretty big star.
The PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina is advertising an appearance by Charlotte for the August 12 edition of SmackDown. Charlotte is currently not listed on WWE.com’s preview for the show. Should she appear, this would be Charlotte’s first appearance since WrestleMania Backlash on May 8 when she was defeated by Ronda Rousey. There is no word on what Charlotte would be doing on the show.
Opinion: This is the kind of return that WWE could use as Charlotte has been gone for the better part of two months. Charlotte is one of the bigger stars in the company and would instantly be one of the most imp..

It Grows: AEW Announces Several New Matches For Forbidden Door

That’s what they needed. We are less than a week away from AEW’s Forbidden Door crossover show with New Japan Pro Wrestling. That is the kind of a show that you do not get to see very often and it certainly has potential to be special. There are several matches already set for the show and now that total has gotten even higher as AEW has beefed up the card.
AEW added multiple matches to the Forbidden Door card this week on Dynamite. First up, the Buy-In show will include Max Caster and the Gunn Club facing Kevin Knight, Alex Coughlin and Yuya Uemura. Second, Jay White will defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Title against Kazuchika Okada, Hangman Page and Adam Cole. Finally, the Young Bucks will team with Hikuleo and El Phantasmo vs. Sting, Darby Allin, Shingo Takagi and Hiromu Takahashi. Zack Sabre Jr. was also confirmed for a match against an opponent to be named.
Opinion: This is the kind of big set of matches that has been needed for the card and now you can see most of what is goi..

Bryan Danielson Makes Major Health Announcement, Update On In-Ring Status

That’s good and bad. Injuries are one of the worst things that you can see take place in wrestling. You never know when you are going to see someone taken out of the ring due to getting hurt and that is always a bad thing. That is the case again with one of the biggest stars in the world, but now we know a bit more about what is going on and that is a good thing.
Bryan Danielson opened this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite and announced that he is not medically cleared to wrestle at the moment. As a result, he will miss Sunday’s Forbidden Door match against Zack Sabre Jr. as well as next week’s Blood & Guts match. Danielson did not give a date when he will be back but he did promise to return to the ring. He also promised that a replacement will take his place in both matches, with the same person wrestling both times.
Opinion: That is not good to hear, but it is a situation that certainly could be worse. It is great to see that Danielson is still able to be out there and stand in the ..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Triple H Returning To Old Position

Welcome back! To say there has been a lot of upheaval behind the scenes in WWE in recent months would be a huge understatement. The company’s front office has been turned upside down in a lot of ways and that is probably going to be continuing in the near future. It can be interesting to see how things shake out, and now another big change seems to be putting things back to how they were before.
According to John Pollock of Post Wrestling, Triple H is reportedly back at the WWE Performance Center and has said that he is “back”. This comes after Triple H has been away from NXT since August of 2021 when he suffered a cardiac event. There is no word on what Triple H will be doing or if he is going to have anywhere near the authority that he had before. This change follows John Laurinaitis being placed on administrative leave and Bruce Prichard being named the new Head of Talent Relations.
According to multiple sources, Paul Levesque was in Orlando today and spoke at the Performance Cent..

AEW Dynamite Results – June 22, 2022

Dynamite
Date: June 22, 2022
Location: UW Milwaukee Panther Arena, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, Excalibur
We’re at the final Dynamite step before Forbidden Door on Sunday, which could be quite the rough night. Bryan Danielson is making an announcement about his future and it might not be the best news. Odds are we get some more matches announced for Sunday as well so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Here is Bryan Danielson for the announcement. Tony Schiavone asks about his future but Danielson takes the mic and says he isn’t giving it back. Danielson says this is a great week to be an AEW fan or a professional wrestling fan. This Sunday we have Forbidden Door and then a week later we have Blood and Guts with all of the violence you could want. As for Forbidden Door, Zack Sabre Jr., he wanted to prove he was the best technical wrestler in the world, while Danielson wanted to crush Sabre Jr.’s trachea.
Unfortunately, he isn’t cleared to wrestle at F..
