KB’s Review: Who Is AEW

Last weekend, AEW presented the first ever Forbidden Door pay per view, showing that the door is neither closed nor forbidden. The show focused on a series of matches between AEW and New Japan, meaning that the quality was very high with one good match after another. The same cannot exactly be said for the build to the show, which was choppy at best and all over the place (in a bad way) at the worst. That situation is kind of a microcosm of AEW’s entire history as a whole and that is what we are going to look at today.
AEW has been around for a little over three years, with its first event taking place in May 2019. This came after All In from the previous fall, which was basically the result of a bet between the original Elite and Dave Meltzer. The whole thing then took on a life of its own and Tony Khan (and his wallet) got involved, setting the stage for the AEW we now know (at least in theory).
This had a lot of fans rather excited as for the first time in a LONG time there was a ..

Take Two: WWE Planning Money In The Bank Rematch For Summerslam

Run it back? WWE runs a lot of major evens throughout the course of the year and some of them are among the biggest in all of wrestling. That is the case in the summer as well, as can be seen this year. Over the weekend WWE presented its annual Money In The Bank event, with Summerslam following only four weeks later. That means the card needs to be set, and now we might be getting ready for a rematch.
At Money In The Bank, Liv Morgan cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase to defeat Ronda Rousey and win the SmackDown Women’s Title for the first time. Following the win, Rousey congratulated Morgan and left without any incident. According to F4WOnline.com, the current plan is for Morgan to defend the title against Rousey at Summerslam in a rematch.
Opinion: This is what you kind of had to expect but it has me worried in more than a few ways. The biggest problem here is that I’m not sure I can buy Morgan retaining the title over Rousey. There are ways around it, such as interference b..

Israel Adesanya Comes Out To The Undertaker’s Music

Greatness recognizes greatness. Last night at UFC 276, Israel Adesanya competed in the main event. To do so, he came out in one of the greatest entrances in UFC history; using The Undertaker’s music and imagery.
You can see the entrance below:

From ESPN:
In a clinical, albeit unspectacular, performance, Israel Adesanya outpointed Jared Cannonier via unanimous decision to retain his middleweight title in the main event of UFC 276 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.
The judges scored the bout 49-46, 49-46, and 50-45.
Adesanya’s superiority in striking was evident throughout the bout. Cannonier landed nothing of real significance, with Adesanya keeping him at a distance and picking his opponent apart with jabs and kicks to the body and legs.
The crowd grew restless with the lack of thrilling action, especially in the fourth round, which was marked by boos and fans raising lit-up smartphones. But Cannonier did nothing to push Adesanya, a f..

Vince McMahon, Stephanie, Triple H & Pat McAfee Appear at UFC 276

Their night wasn’t done, last night at UFC 276, several celebrities and superstars were in attendance. This included the McMahon family, as well as Pat McAfee, who took in the show.
You can see their brief appearance below:

Earlier in the night, WWE hosted their 2022 Money in the Bank pay-per-view event, which was held at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. At the conclusion of the show, McAfee was attacked by Baron Corbin, setting up a match between the two at SummerSlam. This is why he was in the neck brace, to further sell his injuries.
UFC was held at the T-Mobile arena, also in Las Vegas. The main event saw Israel Adesanya defeat Jared Cannonier by unanimous decision to retain his Middleweight championship.
Editor’s Opinion:
I love stuff like this. I know that everyone is going to say that Vince McMahon shouldn’t be doing what he’s doing, considering all of the legal trouble that he is in right now. But I don’t see any problem with hi..

New Vignette Airs During Money in the Bank 2022

Who could it be? Last night, at the Money in the Bank 2022 pay-per-view, a brand new vignette aired featuring a number of strange symbols. Included were creepy music, a cross, candles, and others.
You can see the vignette below:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Editor’s Opinion:
Usually, I don’t write opinions this long, but when all you have to work with is the vignette, all that’s left to do is start giving opinions and try to break down what it might mean. My initial thought was that it was the return of bray Wyatt, as these types of things were what he specialized in.
However, the common theory going around the Internet right now is that it is the return of edge. There were gold medals, a cross, armbands, and glasses with tape in the middle; all throwbacks to some of his previous feuds with legends over the years. The current theory is that it could be the return of his Brood character, as he comes back to face Judgment Day, who turned on him a few weeks ago. As alwa..

It’s A Little Different: WWE Announces Special Grudge Match For Summerslam

The big stage. Wrestling has a long history of athletes from more mainstream sports stepping between the ropes. This can create quite the level of interest as fans of both sports can get interested in seeing what happens when worlds collide. Sometimes you get a big success in the form of a hidden gem, and that might be the case again as a former football star is stepping into the ring one more time.
WWE has announced that SmackDown broadcaster Pac McAfee will be returning to the ring at Summerslam to face Happy Corbin. The match was made after Corbin attacked McAfee after Money In The Bank went off the air. McAfee has been calling out Corbin for the last several weeks, including insulting him to the live audiences. This will be McAfee’s second singles match on the main roster after he defeated Theory at WrestleMania 38.
Opinion: This match being confirmed seemed to be more a matter of time rather than any kind of a surprise. The match has been teased for a few weeks now and WWE is no..

She’s A Big Deal: Important Update On Bayley’s Return To WWE TV

Almost back? There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and it can be difficult to keep track of everyone at times. That can make for some interesting moments when someone gets to do something fresh that gets the fans’ attention. You might see this in multiple ways, including someone returning after a lengthy absence. That might be the case again in the near future.
According to Fightful Select, Bayley is preparing for an in-ring return, with Bayley herself hinting at such a return in recent social media posts. Bayley has reportedly been training in the ring after missing over a year due to a severe knee injury when she tore her ACL. There is currently no word on when exactly Bayley could be returning to the ring. Bayley last wrestled on the June 25, 2022 SmackDown.
Opinion: Bayley has teased her return for so long now that it is almost hard to fathom that she will actually get back in the ring at some point. The good thing is that WWE is getting back one of its best stars as Bay..

Things Were “A Little More Chaotic” Than Usual Backstage At WWE Money In The Bank

It was one of those days. WWE has a lot of pieces that come together to make any show work and some of them can go a bit better than others. At the same time, there are some events that come together better than others for one reason or another. It can be difficult to figure out what is going wrong, but in this case we might know what happened backstage at a major WWE event.
According to PWInsider.com, things were “a little more chaotic” backstage at this weekend’s WWE Money In The Bank event. This included a lack of a production meeting the morning of the show and matches being worked out later than usual. There is no word on what might have caused the issue or if it caused any significant changes to how the show was presented.
Opinion: At this point, is it any surprise when something is going wrong backstage at a WWE event? It seems that there is always something off or something messed up in one way or another. Maybe this was a bit worse than usual, but the problem seems to be som..

Surprising Name Wins Money In The Bank, One Briefcase Already Cashed In

They’re not wasting time. Money In The Bank has become one of the most important shows of the year for WWE and it isn’t a surprise. The show features a pair of matches that can allow nearly guaranteed title changes at some point down the line, making the show’s namesake matches very important for anyone involved. That was the case again this year and things were off to a hot start.
WWE held its annual Money In The Bank event this weekend with both a men’s and women’s Money In The Bank ladder match included. First up, Liv Morgan won the women’s edition and cashed in her briefcase on Ronda Rousey later in the night to win the SmackDown Women’s Title. In the show’s main event, Theory won the men’s edition, despite not being entered in the match coming into the show. WWE official Adam Pearce came out before the match and announced that Theory was included.
Opinion: It was certainly an eventful night and it is fun to see the briefcase cashed in on the night of the show. I like the idea of..

Multiple Title Changes Take Place At WWE Money In The Bank

There’s your change. Titles are one of the most important things in all of wrestling as they often make someone the top star in a promotion. Winning or losing a title can make a huge change for anyone on a roster and it can be quite the new direction for anyone involved. That was the case again this weekend, as a new champion was crowned in a bit of a surprise win.
WWE held its annual Money In The Bank event over the weekend and multiple titles changed hands. First up, Bobby Lashley defeated Theory to win the United States Title for the third time. Later in the night, Ronda Rousey successfully defended the SmackDown Women’s Title against Natalya but Miss Money In The Bank Liv Morgan cashed in to win the title. Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and Tag Team Champions the Usos retained their titles.
Opinion: This is the kind of result that I can go for, as I do like the idea of getting rid of one of the briefcases the night of the show. Theory losing the title was a bit of a surprise ..

Money In The Bank 2022 Results

Money In The Bank 2022
Date: July 2, 2022
Location: MGM Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada
Commentators: Byron Saxton Corey Graves, Jimmy Smith, Pat McAfee, Michael Cole
It’s the ladder show as we focus on becoming something close to the #1 contender. That means the show is going to be built around the two ladder matches, so there aren’t going to be many options for the rest of the card. There are enough title matches around to fill things out, but this is all about the ladder matches. Let’s get to it.
The opening video looks at a bunch of the people on the show and how they could make it big tonight.
Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan vs. Asuka vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Shotzi vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Lacey Evans Women’s Money In The Bank ladder match. It’s a brawl to start with Asuka being left in the ring to strike at Becky. A sliding kick to the face drops Becky and Asuka takes a ladder that Shotzi tries to bring in. Becky kicks Asuka down but can’t drop a ladder onto her. Rodriguez comes back i..

First Up: WWE Teases Logan Paul’s Summerslam Match

That’s one down. We are on the way to Summerslam later this month and the show has the potential to be a big one. What matters most is that the show has the biggest card and the top stars in the company but that is easier said than done. WWE has the roster to make it work, and now they are one upping things by bringing in a new star to put him on the show as well.
WWE has heavily hinted that Logan Paul will face the Miz at Summerslam on July 30. A tweet showing Paul holding up a sign saying he was coming for Miz has been posted, with a Summerslam hashtag included. This comes after Paul announced that he had signed a full time contract with WWE earlier this week. Paul has wrestled in WWE before, including teaming with Miz to defeat the Mysterios at WrestleMania 38 in April. Following the match, Miz turned on Paul, which set up their match at Summerslam.
