The New Project: Possible Long Term Plans For NXT Championship

They have a plan for that. NXT has been around for a rather long time now and it continues to occupy one of the most unique places in all of wrestling. While it serves as the official WWE developmental territory and its main purpose is to get wrestlers ready for the main roster, it also serves as its own promotion, meaning things need to happen to keep up the interest. Now we might know what WWE has in mind.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there has been talk of having Nikkita Lyons win the NXT Women’s Title. However, this is not expected to take place in the near future but rather a long time down the road. Lyons recently returned from an injury and has been talking about the title in recent weeks. Mandy Rose is the reigning NXT Women’s Champion and successfully defended the title against Roxanne Perez this week.
Opinion: I can absolutely see why WWE would want to make such a move as Lyons is one of the most unique stars that they have in NXT. That kind of status is something..

More Details On Natalya Breaking Character At WWE Live Event

That was definitely a moment. The idea of wrestling is that people are in the ring having a match/fight and it is all about seeing who wins. The trick is that the people are having to put together a performance by convincing the fans that what they are seeing is real. At the same time though, sometimes you see something happen that isn’t exactly planned, which was the case over the weekend. Now we know a bit more about what happened.
Over the weekend, Liv Morgan defeated Natalya at a live event with Oblivion. As soon as the match ended, Natalya popped up and yelled at Morgan before leaving. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there was some kind of an incident backstage involving Natalya, though Morgan was not involved whatsoever. The incident was said to be cleared up that night and is considered “over and done with”. It is still not clear what happened to start the situation.
Opinion: That’s still quite the messy situation but at least it seems to be taken care of already. The v..

Switch! Surprise Turn Takes Place With NXT Title Implications

There’s the twist. There are a lot of ways to set up a feud in wrestling and some of them have been used for years. Those stories are often some of the most interesting and have a tendency to work almost every time. It makes sense for promotions to use them over and over again and we saw another classic dusted off this week. As a bonus, multiple titles were involved.
The main event of this week’s NXT featured Roxanne Perez challenging Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Title. At the start of the show, someone attacked Perez in the parking lot, leaving the match in doubt. Perez did make the match, but her partner Cora Jade turned on her, allowing Rose to retain the title. Jade attacked Perez again after the match to end the show. Perez and Jade are the reigning NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, having wont he titles last week.
Opinion: It’s a story you have probably heard before and that is not a bad thing. What matters most is having something interesting and even though Jade’s turn was a ..

It’s the week after the Great American Bash and we still have a title on the line this week. This time around, we have the Women’s Title on the line as Roxanne Perez is going to be challenging Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Title in an attempt to become a double champ. In addition, we have the fallout from JD McDonagh attacking NXT Champion Bron Breakker last week. Let’s get to it.
We open with a recap of the Great American Bash.
Roxanne Perez has been attacked in the parking lot, with Cora Jade and medics checking on her.
Giovanni Vinci vs. Apollo Crews They fight over a lockup to start and neither gets very far. Crews slips out of a slam but gets shouldered down. Some forearms from Crews rattle Vinci though and Crews is up with AJ Styles’ drop down into a dropkick. They head outside with Crews being dropped onto the barricade and we take a break.

WATCH: John Cena vs. Kevin Owens From Battleground 2015

The battle continues. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between John Cena and Kevin Owens for the United States Championship from Battleground 2015.
You can see the video in its entirety below:

From WWE.com:
After absorbing some serious punishment from K.O. in the early goings of this anticipated rubber match, Cena caught Owens with an Attitude Adjustment, a maneuver that somehow only garnered a two-count. With frustration beginning to set in, Cena attempted to go high-risk, taking the challenger to the top rope for a superplex. Anticipating Cena’s next move, Owens reversed the maneuver, sending The Champ crashing down hard on his left shoulder. Cena reeled following that sickening impact, but this fight was far from finished.
Dazed and visibly pained, Cena evaded a Pop-up Powerbomb from his opportunistic foe and again went for the Attitude Adjustment. However, Owens quickly countered with..

Former World Champion Makes Surprise WWE Return, Teases New Feud

Welcome back. There have been a lot of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history and some of them have been quite the successes. While it might not be an exact science, one of the best ways to gauge a wrestler’s success is through the championships they have won, particularly World Titles. This week saw the return of a former World Champion in a surprising moment.
The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Theory and Seth Rollins team up to face Bobby Lashley and Riddle. During the match, former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler came to the ring to watch. Later, Theory rolled Riddle up and put his feet on the ropes, only to have Ziggler break it up, allowing Riddle to get the pin. Following the match, Ziggler superkicked Theory to end the show. There is no word on any match between Ziggler and Theory.
Opinion: This is quite the surprise and I’m not sure where it is going. I don’t mind having Ziggler back, but what matters is giving Theory something to do on the way up to the ..

WHAT? Stone Cold Steve Austin Backstage At Recent WWE Event, Offers Thoughts On Show

That’s a special one. There are all kinds of great stars in wrestling history but only a few have approached the level of Steve Austin. He is one of the biggest stars in the history of the industry and one of the most influential names in modern wrestling. Having him around means something and that was the case again this weekend, even if you probably didn’t see him on camera.
WWE held a live event on Sunday night in Reno, Nevada under their Sunday Stunner banner. Natalya was on the show and revealed that WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin was backstage at the event. Austin responded to the tweet, praising the crowd as well as the wrestlers, saying they gave the fans a “helluva show”. Austin last appeared for WWE at WrestleMania 38 where he main evented night one and beat up Vince McMahon on night two.
The coolest part of tonight in Reno was having @steveaustinBSR at our show watching every match backstage… Steve is the best. Truly. ??

WWE Legend Agrees To New Deal With The Company

He’ll be around for a bit. Over the history of wrestling, very few stars are able to truly stand out above the rest. It takes something special to make it work that well but some wrestlers manage to make it work. There are different ways to pull this off and you know one of these major stars when you see one. Now you might get to see one of them a bit more often.
WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley has announced that he has signed a new legends deal with WWE, meaning that his Pro Wrestling Tees store will be closing as of July 31. Foley released the video to announce why the store would no longer be available. Foley has worked with WWE on and off since retiring from the ring. There is nothing to suggest that Foley will be returning to WWE television in the near future.
He can say it better. Check out Foley’s announcement:

Opinion: This is one of those things that happens every now and then and it is nice to see Foley getting this kind of a chance…

It’s Worth A Shot: WWE Has Surprising Plans For Returning Character

That’s a way to go. With so many storylines going on WWE television at any given time, it can be difficult to have something that stands out. Sometimes you can see it work due to just how unique the whole thing is, and that seems to be what is happening again on Monday Night Raw. There is currently a pretty different story, and now we might have an idea of where it is going.
Starting on the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 38, Elias’ younger brother Ezekiel made his debut. Since the, Ezekiel has insisted that he and Elias are different people, with Elias making an appearance on Monday Night Raw last month. According to Fightful Select, the plan is that Elias will be integrated into Monday Night Raw, with materials being planned for him. However, the same report says that Elias had an appearance planned for this week’s show but he did not show up.
Opinion: This does answer a few questions about the situation, but I’m not sure how long this can last. It’s certainly a unique idea, bu..

It’s Working: Very Positive Sign For Liv Morgan At WWE Live Events

They’re doing something right. While the main focus of WWE is on television, there is a lot that takes place off of television that is only there for the fans in attendance. This is mainly the case with live events, where the wrestlers are able to try out some different things. It is also a place where the fans can tell WWE what they might be more interested in seeing, and that was the case again over the weekend.
According to PWInsider.com, a source at the SmackDown live events from over the weekend has never heard louder crowd reactions for Liv Morgan. In addition, her merchandise is said to be selling in high numbers at the same events. This comes after Morgan won the women’s Money In The Bank briefcase earlier this month and cashed in on Ronda Rousey to win the SmackDown Women’s Title. Morgan is set to defend against Rousey at Summerslam.
Opinion: Well good for Morgan. That is the kind of thing that you want to see as a wrestler and it is also great to see as a fan. Morgan’s titl..

WATCH: Natalya Seems To Break Character At WWE Live Event (This Is Weird)

These things happen. Wrestling has a lot of moving parts to any show, but it always comes down to the idea of people in the ring together having a match. That is a very tricky thing to do while keeping each other safe and having things go as planned and sometimes something can go wrong. It seems that was the case over the weekend in something you do not see happen very often.
A clip from a WWE live event in Sacramento, California over the weekend shows Liv Morgan defeating Natalya with her signature Oblivion. However, after the match ends, Natalya pops up, shouts at Morgan, and leaves. According to Sportskeeda.com, Natalya, in a since deleted tweet, responded to the video, saying that while she was breaking character, she was saying “THANKYOU” to Morgan. There is no word on what led to the situation.
It’s certainly different. Check out what happened after the match:

Opinion: This is a rather odd situation that you do not see too often. Nata..

REVIEW: Summerslam 2014: The Biggest Fight Of The Summer

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Summerslam 2014
Date: August 17, 2014
Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
Attendance: 14,079
Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Jerry Lawler
Time for a redo of a show with a main event billed as the Biggest Fight of the Summer. The more I think of that line, the more I like it. The main event here is Cena (subbing for the injured Bryan) defending against Brock Lesnar, who is having his first match since breaking the Streak. Interestingly enough, I don’t even remember another match fr..
