Ouch: Wrestling Legend Details Horrible Effects From Neck Injuries

That’s pretty terrible. There are all kinds of ways to get hurt in wrestling and you never know when someone is going to get hurt. That is the kind of thing that can be rather terrifying, but part of what people don’t often think about are the long term effects. Some injuries are serious enough that they hurt people for a long time after they get out of the ring, and that is the case again with a wrestling legend.
During a recent edition of his Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle discussed the long term health impacts of his neck injuries. Angle revealed that he cannot feel his pinkie fingers and that his motor skills have diminished. In addition, his arms have atrophied, making both of them about three inches shorter. Angle also said that one day he will have to have neck fusion surgery, though it is not clear if that will cure some of his issues.
Opinion: Angle is one of those cautionary tales that you hear about so often and yet it keeps getting worse. After all of the quick fix surgeries..

You Might Be Hearing A Lot More About The Vince McMahon Allegations Soon

More to come on that. There have been a lot of WWE stories this year but none of them come close to the official investigation into Vince McMahon over allegations of sexual misconduct. The accusations have already caused McMahon to step back from his leadership role in WWE and caused people to look back into his history. Now things might be about to get even worse.
According to PWInsider.com, mainstream news outlets are looking to introduce new stories about the McMahon allegations. Some of the possible outlets to look into the situation are HBO’s Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel and the Wall Street Journal. There is no word on when the stories could come out, though the Wall Street Journal should be in the next few weeks. Both are looking to talk to former female WWE wrestlers.
Opinion: This is something that you had to know was coming and that is not a bad thing. McMahon has been accused of a lot of things and now people are starting to talk about what those things might be. I’m not ..

Michael Elgin Responds To Rumor Of Being Arrested For Stealing

And now, the other side. It can be difficult to find out what is really going on in wrestling as you will have someone saying one thing and someone else saying another. Throw in the fact that the majority of wrestling is built on the idea of people not telling the truth. This time around, two sides are telling two very different sides of a story and it could make quite the difference.
Over the weekend, a rumor began circulating that former Ring Of Honor World Champion and current Pro Wrestling Noah star Michael Elgin had been arrested in Japan for stealing protein powder. This could have resulted in either jail time or expulsion from Japan as punishment. Elgin has since responded, saying that the story is not true and that he is leaving Japan to return to his native Canada after the death of a close relative. Elgin emphasized that he is not charged with anything, facing jail time or being deported. Pro Wrestling Noah has not commented on the situation other than saying Elgin would mis..

He’s Back: WWE Star Expected To Return From Injury On This Week’s Monday Night Raw

Welcome back? Wrestlers occasionally have to miss some time from television for one reason or another. That is often not a good thing, but there are times when someone needs to go away, often for the sake of an injury. That can cause a lot of storyline issues but at least now it seems like we are going to be getting the return of a star who has been missing for a little while.
According to Fightful Select, Kevin Owens is expected to make his return to WWE TV on this week’s Monday Night Raw. The return would see Owens’ first appearance since the June 19 Monday Night Raw as he has been dealing with an unspecified “minor injury”. There is no word on what Owens will be doing on the show, though he was feuding with Ezekiel and Elias before his hiatus.
Opinion: This is a good thing to see as Owens can be one of the most entertaining people on any WWE show. That opens up some doors, especially since the Elias feud should be over after this much time away. It would be nice to see Owens getti..

Crossover? NXT Fight Takes Place Backstage At WWE SmackDown

You have to get it in where you can. There are several WWE shows every single week with each one looking at a different core of wrestlers. This includes both main roster shows as well as NXT, which has its own world and group of stars. It can be interesting to see someone from NXT get involved with something on the main roster and now that has happened again (kind of).
The NXT Twitter account has released a photo of a brawl that took place between Solo Sikoa and Von Wagner at last week’s SmackDown taping. The two have been feuding in NXT and it is unlikely that the brawl suggests that the two are being called up. Instead, the fight was likely held at SmackDown due to the show being taped near the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The footage will likely air on this week’s NXT.
On Friday night there was an altercation between @WWEVonWagner and @WWESoloSikoa at #SmackDown.

Backstage Confusion Over USA Censoring Brock Lesnar’s Monday Night Raw Promo

Call it mixed signals. WWE has been on television for a long time now, with Monday Night Raw approaching thirty years on the air. Most of that has been on the USA Network, which has had quite the strong relationship over the years. The two sides have worked together for quite the successes, but now some of their signals are a bit crossed in a bit of an odd way.
This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with a Brock Lesnar in-ring interview. During the segment, Lesnar used the word s***, which was censored on the live broadcast of the show. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, USA had approved the word in their script of the show and WWE did not know it would be censored. There is nothing to suggest that WWE is angry about the situation, but they were surprised by the change. This comes as USA has reportedly planned to make Monday Night Raw a TV-14 show again.
Opinion: This is one of those things that really doesn’t matter all that much, but it is the kind of thing that makes you wonder w..

Fare Thee Well? Another AEW Star May Be On His Way Out

Him too? AEW has not been around for very long but they have managed to put together a heck of a talented roster. The company has mixed things up enough with one kind of wrestler after another and it has made things all the more interesting. At some point though, some of those wrestlers have to go and that seems to be the case again with another somewhat cult favorite.
AEW star Fuego del Sol has removed all references to the company from his Twitter bio, while putting up an email address for booking inquiries. Del Sol has also sent out a tweet saying “change is coming”. While not confirmed, this could mean that he is on his way out of the company. Del Sol has been a regular on AEW programming, mainly wrestling on Dark and Dark: Elevation.
Change is going to come.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that has to happen in wrestling from time to time as promotions need to mix things up. Del Sol has been a regular, but he has never been the b..

They Might Have A Point: Group Of WWE Women Reportedly Unhappy With TV Time

Can you blame them? The WWE women’s division has come so far along that it is almost hard to fathom just where things were before. The division has gone from little more than time filler to a portion of the roster that has headlined just about everything in WWE. That is a crazy accomplishment, but as time goes on, it seems that things are not as happy as they once were.
According to Fightful Select, a group of women had complained to WWE about the lack of women being used on SmackDown earlier this year. With Charlotte taking time off and the returns of Asuka and Lacey Evans, the group was waiting to see how things went on SmackDown. In addition, the departures of Naomi and Sasha Banks has allowed for more women to be used. Ronda Rousey’s return has also helped, as she is willing to work with a variety of women on the roster. As a result, the group seems to be happier with the current situation.
Opinion: It’s kind of hard to blame the women for being unhappy, as they have a point with ..

Coming In: Two Former NXT Stars Appear At AEW Dark Tapings (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

It’s their new home. While WWE gets the most attention in the wrestling world, there are other promotions throughout the world, some of which have their own national exposure. It makes sense for those promotions to bring in former WWE stars when they have the chance and that seems to be what has happened again. This time though, a promotion brought in two at once.
AEW taped episodes of Dark this weekend at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. During the tapings, two former NXT stars made their debuts for the company. First up, Cole Karter, formerly known as Troy “Two Stacks” Donovan defeated Mike Orlando. This is Karter’s return to the company, as he wrestled eight matches before being signed to NXT. In addition, Parker Boudreaux also debuted, appearing with Ariya Daivari and Slim J, though he does not seem to have wrestled a match. It is not clear when these shows will air.

WRESTLING RUMOR: Former World Champion Arrested For Theft, Faces Possible Jail Time

He might be gone for a bit. Wrestlers are larger than life characters who are able to do all kinds of things that will blow your mind on a regular basis. It takes some special talents to make that work, but at the same time, the wrestlers you are still seeing are humans. That means you are going to see them make mistakes, and now that might be the case again with a pretty serious situation.
Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan has announced that former Ring Of Honor World Champion Michael Elgin has been arrested, resulting in him being pulled from upcoming cards. According to Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, Elgin was arrested for theft of protein powder and could face up to five years in prison. There is a chance that a deal could be made to allow Elgin to avoid jail time by having him leave Japan, as was the case with Matt Sydal in 2016.

Long Time Coming: Injured WWE Star Possibly Returning At Summerslam

Welcome back? We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and that means WWE is going to be working overtime to make things more interesting and draw in as many fans as possible. There are a few ways to do that, with one of the biggest being bringing in stars to help carry the show. WWE might be doing that with a name that has not been seen in a very long time.
According to PWInsider.com, Bayley is scheduled to be in Nashville, Tennessee for Summerslam weekend, meaning that she could be returning at the event. This is NOT confirmed and is only seen as a possibility at the moment. Bayley has been out of action since June of last year with a knee injury, though she has recently been seen training at the WWE Performance Center.
Opinion: Bayley has teased returning so many times now that I’m only going to believe it when I see it. It has been a long time off for her but a major knee injury like this isn’t the kind of thing that you just bounce back from. I could certainly go for Bayl..

REVIEW: Fastlane 2017: At Least It Isn’t Slow

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Fastlane 2017
Date: March 5, 2017
Location: Bradley Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Commentators: Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves
It’s the final show before Wrestlemania XXXIII and it’s fairly clear that this is just a way to fill in time before Orlando. The main event is Kevin Owens defending the Universal Title against Goldberg, which has a serious chance of being a squash. Of course it also has the chance of Chris Jericho interfering and costing his former friend the title. Let’s get to it.
