Why The Rock’s Relationship With John Cena Originally Went Sour

It set them apart. There are very few names who have become the undisputed face of WWE over the years. These are some of the biggest names in the history of wrestling and they are often around for a long time. Every now and then you get to see two of them face off over an issue. That was the case at one point, but it was the result of a personal issue between them.
In his new book “There’s Just One Problem…: True Tales from the Former, One-Time, 7th Most Powerful Person in WWE”, former WWE writer Brian Gerwitz talked about the real life issues between the Rock and John Cena. The Rock’s side of the issue came from Cena saying that he felt the Rock never gave anything back to WWE after leaving for Hollywood. The worst part was that Cena made the comments in an interview rather than saying them to Cena’s face. Cena and the Rock would later make amends and face each other at WrestleMania 28 and 29.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can cause some issues for everyone involved as Cen..

WWE Broadcaster Confirms Departure From The Company Amid Shakeup

It was a nice run. The position of lead commentator on WWE Monday Night Raw is one of the most important in all of WWE. The show is still the company’s flagship program and fans are going to see what they company is doing every Monday night. We are currently going through a change in broadcasting, but one name is not going to be reassigned to another place in the company.
Earlier this week, a report emerged that WWE would be changing the broadcasting teams on the three main television shows. This included Jimmy Smith being removed as the lead play by play announcer on Monday Night Raw. Smith has since commented on the situation, confirming that he has left WWE. Smith thanked fans for his time in the company and said that he was moving on, though not to where. This ends Smith’s run with WWE, which started in May 2021.
Just wanted to say, now that the story is officially out, that my time with the WWE is officially done. Had a lot of fun and met some great people. Really and truly blow..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Update On AEW Star Possibly Moving Back To WWE

There’s no interest. The rise of AEW has seen several stars having a new place to go in the wrestling world. While there have always been other promotions to go to, there are only so many spots on such a high level. Not everyone is going to be a good fit in WWE for one reason or another and one former WWE star does not seem like he would want to be back there anyway.
According to SportsKeeda.com, AEW’s Miro has no interest in returning to WWE or leaving AEW. This comes after Miro had seemingly vented frustrations about his status in AEW but has not asked for his release. There is also said to be no interest from WWE in bringing Miro back to the company, where he wrestled under the name Rusev. Miro has not wrestled since All Out on September 4.
Opinion: There are some interesting discussions of wrestlers jumping from one promotion to the other and that makes things a lot more fun. It can be fascinating to see someone trying to get out of their deal or trying to move elsewhere and then..

Several More Details On AEW Backstage Fight, Who Started Everything

There’s a lot more to it than that. One of the biggest wrestling stories of the week has been the backstage altercation between Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara at this week’s AEW TV taping. It is the latest physical altercation between AEW stars and comes after El Idolo made negative comments about Guevara in an interview on Mexican television. Now we know some more about the situation.
According to Fightful Select, El Idolo was said to have been the aggressor and was at the taping for the sake of fighting Guevara. El Idolo reportedly threw punches at Guevara, who did not throw punches back. According to Wrestling Observer Radio and Fightful Select, this is why only El Idolo was sent home and not Guevara, who went on to get the pinfall in the show’s main event. The Observer had five accounts of the incident, none of which say that Guevara ever threw a punch, but one account did say he shoved El Idolo after being spun around. El Idolo is said to be doing this in an effort to get fir..

Julia Hart Announces Engagement To Fellow AEW Star

That’s a good way to start. Wrestling takes away all kinds of personal time from its wrestlers, as they do not have the most time to spend doing whatever they want. This can make certain things difficult, including romantic relationships. One of the best ways to get around this is for wrestlers to date each other, which is what two AEW stars are doing to a serious point.
During an appearance on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Julia Hart revealed that she and fellow AEW star Lee Johnson are engaged. The two met and began dating at the Nightmare Factory before having to be apart due to Hart having to move back to Minnesota. They were both sent to AEW full time and have been together ever since. No date has been announced for their wedding.
Opinion: Well good for them. This is the kind of thing that is always great to see and thankfully the two of them seem to be happy together. That is more than most people get to say and it is even more impressive since they are in wrestling together. H..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Makes Big Changes To Commentary, Two Names Returning

It’s one of the important parts. There are all kinds of things that come together to make a wrestling show work. While the wrestlers themselves are the most important part, commentary plays a very important role as well. They serve as the fans’ guide throughout the show and take the stories where they are supposed to go. Now one of the most important commentary teams will be changing.
According to Variety.com, WWE is making changes to all of its commentary teams. First, Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will be calling SmackDown, with Barrett replacing Corey Graves, who was filling in for Pat McAfee, who is on hiatus. Monday Night Raw will be called by Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves, with Byron Saxton and the returning Cathy Kelley conducting interviews. NXT will be called by Vic Joseph and the returning Booker T, who called Monday Night Raw and SmackDown in the past. Finally, Cole and Graves will call major events together.
Opinion: These might seem like small changes but WWE commentary..

New Stable Set To Debut On SmackDown

Moving on up. NXT is a rare breed in wrestling in that it is both its own thing as well as the WWE’s official developmental territory. Therefore the main goal of its stars is to be promoted to the main roster one day. It can be a career game changer for someone to be called up and now a group of several wrestlers could be getting the same kind of attention all at once.
According to both PWInsider.com and Fightful Select, the entire Legado del Fantasma stable is expected to be moved to SmackDown in the near future, possibly as soon as this week. The team, comprised of Santos Escobar, Elektra Lopez, Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde, left NXT earlier this year and have been expected to be called up to the main roster. There is no word on if there will be any changes to the team.
Opinion: This is one of those long expected moves and it should be a good way to go for everyone. The team did well down in NXT and seem like they could be ready to go on the main roster. Just do the same thing t..

REVIEW: PWG Threemendous: The Early Days Needed Work

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Threemendous
Date: July 16, 2006
Location: Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC, Los Angeles, California
Attendance: 350
Commentators: Disco Machine, Excalibur
So someone requested that I do this show…..oh seven or eight years ago now but I’ve finally gotten around to/remembered to do it. It’s back in the earlier days of PWG and I’m not sure if there is some kind of gimmick for the show. PWG has a history of some rather awesome show names and the tradition holds up in their earlier days too. Let’s get to it.
An unnamed man is..

AEW Dynamite Results – October 5, 2022

Dynamite
Date: October 5, 2022
Location: Entertainment And Sports Center, Washington DC
Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz
It’s the third anniversary of Dynamite and you know that means we are going to be seeing something special. In this case we have a big tag match main event as Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara are facing Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia. As a bonus, the show is an extra fifteen minutes long tonight so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Wheeler Yuta vs. Maxwell Jacob Friedman William Regal is on commentary and doesn’t think much of MJF, even if the fans seem to like him. Wheeler sends him into the corner to start and we hit the Fargo Strut for some old school flare. A dropkick just annoys MJF so he takes Yuta down and grabs a chinlock. Back up and MJF grabs a tilt-a-whirl faceplant as we take a break.
Back with Yuta whipping him hard into the corner and grabbing a small package for two. Yuta grabs some rolling German suplex for two but his hurricanrana ..

WWE Has A New Top Merchandise Seller (And You Might Be Surprised)

That’s an accomplishment. With so may stars in WWE, it can be difficult to find someone who can stand out above the rest. There are very few ways to prove that someone is head and shoulders above the remainder of the roster. One of the biggest ways is to see who is bringing in the most money in some fields and now one star has broken through to the top spot in the company.
According to F4WOnline.com, Drew McIntyre has become the top merchandise seller in WWE, overtaking the Bloodline. While the stable has been a perennial #1 merchandise mover, McIntyre has overtaken them in recent weeks. There is no word on what merchandise is counted in the judging. McIntyre recently headlined Clash At The Castle against Roman Reigns in the show’s main event.
Opinion: That is a rather telling sign but one of the most important things is that it shows someone else is on the way up in WWE. I don’t know if WWE is going to turn McIntyre into the top star in the company as a result and it isn’t like he c..

THAT’S GOTTA BE BIG! WWE Announces Celebration Of Special Kane Anniversary

I would say he has earned it. WWE has been around for a very long time now and there have been some very talented stars to come through that curtain. Some of them are far more memorable than others, but there are some legends who have stood the test of time. Those are the names that WWE likes to celebrate and that is what they are going to be doing in the near future.
WWE has announced that they will be celebrating Kane’s 25th anniversary in the company. Kane debuted on October 5, 1997 at Bad Blood during the Hell In A Cell match between Shawn Michaels and Undertaker. WWE will be celebrating the milestone with special editions of Top 10 and WWE Playlist, looking at some of the best moments of Kane’s career. While Kane debuted in 1997, Glenn Jacobs had been wrestling for WWE for several years before becoming Kane.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that WWE has been doing over and over as of late and one of the biggest reasons is that they had a lot of great things from back in the la..

Great News On Saraya’s AEW Future

So she’s in. There have been some great debuts in AEW’s history and some of them have been names that fans have been seeing for years. That can make for some awesome moments, but it also leaves fans wondering what they are going to be seeing in the future. Now we know what the future seems to hold for a recently debuted star and it is a bit of a surprise.
Last month at AEW Grand Slam, Saraya, better known as Paige during her time in WWE, made her debut for the company. This led to a question of whether or not she would be able to get physical, as she was forced to retire from the ring in 2018 due to a neck injury. This week on AEW Dynamite, Page got into a fight with Britt Baker before laying out Rebel with a superkick. While not confirmed, this would suggest that Saraya has been medically cleared.
Opinion: That is something great to see as you do not want to see anyone forced out of the ring. Saraya is someone who felt like she could be one of the biggest stars in wrestling but had ..
