AEW Bringing Back Another Infamous Match

That’s one way to go. Wrestling is in a situation that it has never approached in the modern era. Thanks to the spread of the Coronavirus wiping out live attendance for wrestling shows, promotions are being forced to think outside of the box and see what they can do to come up with some kind of an alternative. That seems to be the case in AEW and they might have a huge idea planned.
While both WWE and AEW are filming marathon taping sessions of shows to cover themselves for the next several weeks, they are also going to different locations to film content. This was on display Saturday at WrestleMania 36 with the Boneyard Match, which had a lot of people flashing back to another on location match. Now, we might be seeing something closer to the original.
During this week’s AEW Dynamite, Matt Hardy challenged Chris Jericho to face him at the Hardy Compound in an Elite Deletion match. This would seem to be something in the same vein as the Final Deletion match from Impact Wrestling. AEW..

WATCH: John Cena’s nWo Entrance Video

He really is 4 life. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show what the entrance video would be if John Cena was in the nWo. This is in response to a portion of the Firefly Funhouse match between him and Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36.
You can see the video in its entirety below:

From WWE.com:
Yet, When Cena swung the chair, Bray vanished, reappearing moments later on the set of WCW Nitro.
Now portraying Eric Bischoff, Wyatt introduced “the coolest guy who ever walked the earth,” and Cena entered the scene in a New World Order black-and-white T-shirt, strumming a spray-painted WCW Title like Hollywood Hogan in the late 1990s.
Editor’s Opinion:
This match was absolutely brilliant. As I mentioned before, this type of match as changed the history of what professional wrestling could be, bending reality and creating fantasy scenarios for the hardcore wrestling fans. Could you imagine John Cena in the nWo in the 1990s? Holy cow, that would have been a game-c..

WATCH: Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch From CombatMania 35

It was a history-making night. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel, in which they show the full match between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch from WrestleMania 35. It was the first time that women were the main event of the Granddaddy of Them All.
You can see the match in its entirety below:

From WWE.com:
The Man did it. Becky Lynch knocked down every barrier put in her way to become the first woman to win a WrestleMania main event, the first woman to pin Ronda Rousey, and the first woman to hold the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships at the same time in the historic, Winner Take All main event of WrestleMania 35.
Everything Becky Lynch had up to, during and after the main event was earned. She earned her place in the WrestleMania main event by winning the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble Match. She earned the opportunity to stand across the ring from Charlotte Flair when she’d spent so long standing in her shadow. And she earned the right to be mentioned..

Charlotte’s First Challenger Officially Set

The first of (maybe) many. Back at WrestleMania 36, Charlotte became the NXT Women’s Champion for the second time in her career. It was a bit of a surprising title change but Charlotte coming to NXT could do a lot of things for its women’s division. Charlotte is the champion again and, like most champions, that means she needs someone to face. We now have that covered.
With so many wrestling events having been postponed or outright canceled due to the spread of the Coronavirus, something had to be done to fill in a lot of that time. At the same time, a lot of matches and angles had already been set up. Therefore, it was easy to move back to those matches when you were given a chance. Now one of those major matches has taken place.
This week on NXT, Io Shirai won a six woman ladder match to become the new #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Title. The match also included Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Chelsea Green and Mia Yim. This match was originally scheduled for Takeover: Tam..

Location: Undisclosed Location
Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho
We’re still in wherever the heck we are for the second week of what seems to be a marathon taping session. That’s probably the only way to get through the current situation so this is how things are going to be for a good while. The big story tonight is the start of the TNT Title tournament so let’s get to it.
Jake Roberts asks if you would prefer to be staring down a train coming at you or face Lance Archer. Last week, Archer destroyed Marko Stunt, which made Roberts wonder how insane Stunt is. Then there’s Cody, who might be better off losing to Shawn Spears to avoid facing Archer in the second round.
Lance Archer vs. Alan Eagles Archer shoves Eagles down, choke suplexes him across the ring and finishes with the Blackout at 2:09.
Result: Lance Archer b. Alan Eagles – Blackout (2:09)

UPDATE: Rhea Ripley Denies Recent Reports About Her Status

She would know best. Over the weekend, WrestleMania 36 saw several memorable moments take place, many of which changes the directions of wrestlers involved. Many of these involved title changes, which can make for some interesting paths going forward. One of them was a little surprising, but an explanation came out as a result. Now though, that explanation needs an update.
WrestleMania 36 Night Two opened with Charlotte defeating Rhea Ripley to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. The title change was quite the surprise as Ripley had become one of the bigger stars in NXT, including a major win to take the title from Shayna Baszler. Then Charlotte just beat her, which made some fans think something might be up. As it turns out, that may not have been the case.
On Tuesday, reports emerged that Ripley had returned to her native Australia due to her work visa expiring in the United States. However, Ripley responded to the rumors on Wednesday, sending out a video showing that she is still..

Triple H Discusses Ratings War Between NXT and AEW

WWE Hall of Famer Triple H was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated in preparation for their major broadcast of NXT this evening on the USA Network. He discussed a number of topics, including the final match between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, the ratings war between NXT and AEW and more.
Below are some highlights from the interview:
On Ciampa vs. Gargano:
“This week is the culmination of the Ciampa-Gargano rivalry,” said Levesque, who is WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development. “That will be spectacular, I guarantee it.”
On tonight’s 6-women ladder match:
“These women are going to be dominating the business for a long time to come,” said Levesque. “There is such depth, and we’re creating new talent. That bodes well for women in the sport. The deeper that bench is, the more we’ll see young girls who want to do this when they grow up. Ten years from now, there will be women saying that Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai and Xia Li inspired them. That’..

WATCH: Becky Lynch Discusses WrestleMania, Shayna Baszler, Much More

The champ is still here. WWE has come a long way in the year since WrestleMania 35 but there has been one constant in that whole time: Becky Lynch is still the Raw Women’s Champion. She is one of the biggest stars in wrestling and has shown very few signs of slowing down. Keeping the title this long is almost unthinkable but Lynch keeps pulling it off. That comes with some perks, one of which was on display Sunday.
On Saturday night at WrestleMania 36 Night One, Lynch retained the Raw Women’s Title in a surprise over Shayna Baszler. The win allowed her to move forward to the one year mark as champion, which is moving her rather close to the modern record for a women’s champion. Lynch has become a celebrity as well, and that was part of what she was doing the day after retaining the title.
Here she is again. Check out Lynch on SportsCenter:

Lynch was a guest on the Sunday morning edition of SportsCenter. During the interview, Lynch talked about her time working with ESPN before, inc..

AEW On Hiatus Following Marathon Taping Session

See you soon. The wrestling world (along with the rest of it) has been turned upside down at the moment. Everything is going nuts and there is no sign that it is going to be getting any better for a few weeks (at the very, very earliest). This is the kind of thing that wrestling companies are going to have to find a way around and AEW might have found a way to do just that.
The biggest problem with wrestling shows at the moments comes down to not being allowed to run events with more than ten people in a single place at once. That might work back in a territory era live event but it’s a big different with a two hour television show. That’s hard to do every week, but if you cut around the edges quite a bit, it can be done. That seems to be the case at the moment.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW is currently on an indefinite hiatus after taping several weeks worth of television in a marathon taping session over the course of this week. The shows taped could last them all the..

WWE Offers Money In The Bank Status Update

They’re certainly persistent. The WWE motto always seems to be “The Show Must Go On”. Whether it makes sense to continue or not, WWE has a tendency to never know when to take a breather. They have no off season and there is a television show every Monday and Friday night. That can cause some problems when a break is necessary, but it doesn’t seem to be the case here.
There have been a lot of changes in wrestling due to the spread of the Coronavirus, with the biggest being the lack of fans in the venues for the events. Most wrestling companies have just stopped running shows due to this issue, but WWE is not like most wrestling companies. Their shows continue in front of no fans, and that might be the case again going forward.
During Night Two of WrestleMania 36, a video aired advertising Money in the Bank, which is scheduled to take place on May 10. No venue was given, though the show was originally scheduled for the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. At the moment, there is n..

NXT Callup Takes Place During WrestleMania 36

Maybe the first of many. WrestleMania 36 is officially in the books and that means things are going to be entering a new phase starting this week on Monday Night Raw. While that shoe marks something like the season premiere, WrestleMania was the season finale. That being said, there was still time to introduce someone new and that is exactly what they did here.
One of the most fascinating things about WWE is seeing someone get called up to the main roster for the first time. You never know when you might see something like this happening and that is what makes the moments so special. They may not be as common as they once were but when they are that special, they feel big. That was the case on Sunday night at WrestleMania.
During Night Two of WrestleMania 36, Bianca Belair interfered and seemed to make her full time main roster debut. Belair ran in to help the Street Profits fight off Zelina Vega, Angel Garza and Austin Theory after the Street Profits had successfully defended the Ra..
