A return to normalcy is slowly but steadily occurring. After a national steady decrease in new cases, White House executive and other COVID-19 commitee members have now presented a phasal plan to reopen the country for gatherings and life the current restrictions. According to a document from NPR, the guideline for all phases is to continue to practice good hygiene, and for all employers to remain stern in the temperature checks, testing, isolating, and contact tracing, sanitation, use of disinfection of common and high-traffic areas, and business travel.
As presented by Dr. Deborah Birx, Phase One includes all vulnerable individuals continuing to shelter in place, as well as continuing to practice social distancing from others. Telework is also encouraged during this phase. Large venues are to operate “under strict physical distancing protocols.” Phase Two maintains the guidelines for vulnerable individuals, but social settings of 50 or less will be allowed and non-essential travel c..

For now? Wednesday was one of the most newsworthy days in recent memory for WWE as the company cut or furloughed over thirty wrestlers, producers and other employees. It was one of those days that will be talked about for a long time to come and featured one update after another with news of more and more people being released. Now comes the question though: what’s next?
All day long, the worry was about finding out who might be the next person released. The releases were coming in waves and once it reached ten names, it was clear that this was not going to be any usual kind of day. There is not much more than can be done other than to sit around and wonder what is going to happen next. Now though, we might have an idea of what that will be.

On Wednesday, WWE underwent one of its biggest shakeups in history, with nearly thirty wrestlers being released from the main roster alone, plus several producers being furloughed and several NXT wrestlers being let go as well. It changed a lot of things about the company and several people were not happy. WWE seemed to be though, as they have accomplished a goal.
As you probably figured out, the cuts were designed to save WWE some money. That might not sound like the nicest thing in the world given how much money WWE has and also brags about having, but with so many revenue streams cut off at the moment, it isn’t exactly a surprise. Yes they will fight a lot and get into it with each other, but woe unto anyone who dares have something bad to say about the family as a whole. It comes with being a couple. Wrestling relationships are a difficult thing to make work. WWE wrestlers are constantly moving around the country, if not the world, going to shows and doing whatever their bosses ask of them. It is even more difficult when they are bigger stars, but things can be a lot easier if they are on the same shows. Sometimes they get the chance to unwind, but that might not be the most traditional actions.
There are a variety of couples in WWE today and one of the most prominent is Charlotte and Andrade. The two of them have been dating since last year and both currently hold championships. With the nearly nationwide quarantine taking place, the couple has had some extra time together on their hands, meaning they can get in a little additional practice, albeit not in the most normal way.

Earlier this week, WWE announced a tournament to crown a new Interim Cruiserweight Champion due to regular champion Jordan Devlin not being able to defend the title at the moment. The tournament is set to be held under a round robin format, featuring two groups of four wrestlers each. Each wrestler will face the other three wrestlers in his group and the wrestler with the best record from each group will face off for the title. Now we know where this is going.

It is the kind of thing that the company could not have seen coming, just like almost everyone else in the world. This includes personal relationships, and one such wrestling relationship has had something changed as a result.
One of the less popular WWE storylines from 2019 was the on-screen relationship between Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Universal Champion Seth Rollins. The real life couple was paired together on WWE television and went on to main event Extreme Rules 2019. Fans were not thrilled with the way the couple was presented and the relationship has not been mentioned on WWE television in a long time. They are still together behind the scenes and became engaged in August 2019, but something has changed, at least for the moment.

They could use the depth. In February 2019, the WWE brought back its Women’s Tag Team Titles. The titles had been around in the late 1980s to limited success but after the Women’s Revolution changed everything about women’s wrestling, WWE decided that a second run might be in order. That has not exactly been the case as the titles have not had the most success, but a return boost might help.
Part of the problem with the titles being back is the lack of the depth to the division. The titles will go months without being defended at times, at least partially because there is no one to challenge for them. That was certainly the case for the first three months of 2020, as the titles were not defended on television from the middle of December 2019 until WrestleMania 36. Now though, we might be getting some more depth for the division.
