I’ve run out of ways to figure out what to expect from this show and in a way, that’s rather good around here. There is only so much you can expect with the rather limited roster around here and I’m not sure what to expect from that. We had a Cruiserweight Title match this week on NXT so it might be time for a new opponent. Or maybe a rematch since there was a loaded mask involved. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Tehuti comes to the ring for a match but during his entrance, Miles talks about how a rookie like him should be learning from the veterans. He might be rookie of the year though and this show exists because of him. Hopefully a veteran can bring the best out of him. At least he has an opponent.
Tehuti Miles vs. Brian Kendrick Brian hasn’t been around for awhile. Miles has to spin out of an early armbar and Kendrick drop toeholds his way out of a hammerlock. Some..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – September 1, 2020

It’s Super Tuesday and they have a big time main event this time around. Tonight it’s a four way sixty minute Iron Man match for the vacant NXT Title. Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole and Finn Balor are facing off for the title and that could make for a pretty major moment. Let’s get to it.
Long video on the Iron Man match.
Legado del Fantasma vs. Breezango/Isaiah Scott Street fight with weapons around the ring. It’s a huge brawl to start with everyone going after each other and hitting/throwing people into the weapons. A table is set up at ringside and Fandango puts a ladder on his head for the helicopter spot. Scott kicks a trashcan lid into Mendoza’s face and then knees Escobar in the face. Breeze sprays a fire extinguisher to clean house and we take a break.
Back with Scott kicking his way out of trouble but being knocked to the floor for ..

We’re off to the Thunder Dome for the show and I’m not exactly expecting it to make that much of a difference. It’s also the last show before Payback, meaning we will be building to a show and recovering from another one at the same time. That could mean a few different things around here, though none of them are exactly thrilling. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Mustafa Ali vs. Arturo Ruas Ali has to duck from an early kick to the head but a knee puts him down. Ruas kicks him in the arm to keep Ali in trouble and the martial arts are on full display. We hit the armbar on the mat but Ali gets in a few rollups for two each. Another shot to the arm cuts Ali off though and it’s off to an armbar to send Ali over to the ropes.
Ali comes back with a rolling…Codebreaker to the arm instead of the X Factor actually. A Crossface sends Ruas over to the rope for a change and Ru..

Update On Rey Mysterio’s Injury Status And Recovery Time

That could be worse for Mysterio. One of the worst parts of a wrestler being injured is waiting to see how long they are going to be out. You never know how long it might be and wrestling fans do tend to like playing medical expert by trying to figure out how long someone is going to be on the shelf. This time around we might be getting some slightly better than expected news.
On Sunday at Payback, Rey Mysterio teamed with his son Dominik Mysterio to defeat Seth Rollins and Murphy in a tag team match. That is quite the win for the family, but it did not have the happiest ending as Rey tore his tricep at some point. Rey has a history of being injured and has missed a lot of time over his career due to an injury. This one might not be as bad as originally thought though.
According to F4WOnline.com, Mysterio’s injury is not a full tear of the tricep, meaning that he will not require surgery to fix the issue. It is believed that the injury will only put Mysterio out of action for about t..

WWE RUMOR: Vince McMahon Pushing Star “To The Moon”

It’s a good place to be. There are a lot of wrestlers in WWE at the momenta and some of them are going to be much bigger stars than others. At the end of the day, what matters more than anything else is what Vince McMahon thinks of you. If the boss finds someone interesting, they are going to a big star in a hurry and that is the case with a newly promoted WWE star.
Last Sunday at Payback, Keith Lee defeated Randy Orton in the biggest victory of his career. It was Lee’s first major match on the main roster and he defeated Orton in less than seven minutes, clean with his signature Spirit Bomb. That is the kind of thing you don’t see too often but it shows you that someone thinks something of Lee. That someone is McMahon himself, and he has important plans for Lee.
According to TalkSport, McMahon told Orton to make Lee a star at Payback as McMahon wants to “push Lee to the moon.” This comes after Orton had expressed a desire to work with NXT talent such as Adam Cole or Tommaso Ciampa b..

WWE Signs Five Former Evolve Wrestlers

Welcome to the family. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster, to the point where they can only find so many places for a lot of them. As a result, you often find a lot of wrestlers sitting on the sidelines for extended periods of time. That doesn’t mean WWE is going to ignore talent where they find it though, which is what brings them to several fresh signings.
There have been a lot of wrestling stories related to the Coronavirus pandemic and most of them have been rather negative. One of the biggest non-WWE stories was the closing of more than one wrestling promotion, including some that WWE had done business with in the past. Even though the company is gone, it does not mean that the wrestlers are gone. WWE has certainly kept this in mind.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE has signed five talents from Evolve Wrestling. The names signed include Josh Briggs, Anthony Greene, Brandi Lauren, Curt Stallion and Joe Gacy. These five join Leon Ruff, who was signed by WWE earlier this..

REVIEW: Clash Of Champions 2017: The Wrap Up Show

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

It’s the final pay per view of the year and this time the focus is on champions. Well, at least some of it is as the rest of the focus has been on Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn vs. Shane McMahon, who has put together Randy Orton/Shinsuke Nakamura to fight for him. Let’s get to it.
Kickoff Show: Mojo Rawley vs. Zack Ryder
They were partners who kept losing so Rawley turned on him…

Backstage News On Paul Heyman And Roman Reigns Pairing

It’s so simple. Every now and then, WWE can find something big and catch fire on a story and that is the kind of thing that they can’t plan in advance. If they find something that catches the fans’ attention though, a lot of good things can be accomplished in a hurry. This time now though, the idea might be able to do take care of two unrelated tasks at the same time.
This time around, the big idea was to FINALLY turn Roman Reigns heel for the first time in over six years. The idea was to pair him together with Paul Heyman, which is one of the biggest surprises that you probably did not see coming. It turns out that there were a few reasons to put the two of them together, one of which is a little bit surprising given what it could have been.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there were separate reasons for putting Reigns and Heyman together. In Reigns’ case, the idea was to cement his heel turn, as Heyman is seen as a major heel in WWE. Heyman will be Reigns’ agent or advocate ..

Sonya Deville’s Legal Issues Changed Summerslam Stipulations

The real world situation. You never know when you might see something on a wrestling card changed at the last minute. That is not the worst thing in the world as occasionally it is not something that can be controlled, but it can be disappointing. WWE had been building up a big gimmick match at Summerslam but changed it just before the show. There was a pretty specific reason for the move.
One of the most disturbing stories wrestling has seen in a long time broke earlier this month when Sonya Deville’s home was invaded by a fan in possession of a knife and zip ties who had planned to kidnap her. Deville escaped the house and the fan was apprehended, but it was still quite the traumatizing experience. This is something that is going to go on for a long time, and that played into the Summerslam match being changed.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Summerslam match was changed due to Deville’s upcoming court appearances. Deville was scheduled to lose her hair at Summe..

RUMOR: What’s Next For Drew McIntyre In WWE

They have a plan. Back at WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre won the WWE Championship and has gone on to hold it for the last six months. McIntyre has become the face of Monday Night Raw and has done rather well during his reign with the title. This has included some rather nice title defenses against some big names but one of the people who McIntyre has defeated isn’t done quite yet.
McIntyre defeated Randy Orton to retain the title at Summerslam in a match which saw McIntyre survive off a backslide. Orton was not happy with the loss and attacked the champ the following night with three Punts in less than three hours. This put McIntyre on the shelf, but now we know where things are going to be going with him, including when the title will be on the line again.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, McIntyre is expected to return to WWE television at some point after Payback to set up the rematch with Orton at Clash Of Champions. McIntyre was put on the shelf on Monday Night Raw due to the Punts..

How The Steiner Brothers Heavily Influenced Cesaro’s Career

That’s a good team for Cesaro to emulate. Tag team wrestling has been around for a very long time and it isn’t going away anytime soon. While it might not be at the heights it has been before, tag team wrestling can work very well if a company can find some teams with a chemistry. You don’t get to see it all that often, but it can help to look at some of the all time greats. One of WWE’s more prolific tag team wrestlers does just that.
There are very few WWE stars of this generation with as much tag team experience as Cesaro. Over the years, Cesaro has teamed with Tyson Kidd, Shinsuke Nakamura, Jack Swagger and Sheamus with quite the bit of success most of the time. Cesaro is a very talented wrestler and has done some great things in tag teams and it might have to do with his inspiration.
In a new interview with the Bump, Cesaro spoke about how he tries to emulate the Steiner Brothers in his tag teams and wrestlers more like either Rick or Scott Steiner depending on his partner. His ..

Universal Title Changes Hands In A Weird Way At Payback

There’s your big moment. Payback has come and gone and now WWE gets a needed break from pay per view for the time being. The show was the second pay per view in a week and that meant that WWE needed something big to get the fans’ attention. They certainly had a big main event that came after a major twist on SmackDown, but could they deliver after that moment?
The big surprise at the end of Summerslam saw Roman Reigns make his return to WWE after five months away over Coronavirus concerns. Reigns would attack the new Universal Champion the Fiend and former champion Braun Strowman, setting up a triple threat at Payback. Then on SmackDown, Reigns aligned himself with Paul Heyman in a major twist, leaving some questions going into the pay per view.
Reigns won the Universal Title at Payback, pinning Strowman after a spear. The match started with Strowman and Fiend fighting each other alone, as Reigns did not show up until about ten minute in. Heyman accompanied him to the stage where Rei..
