Conflicting Reports On Damian Priest’s WWE Status

There’s your explanation. With so so many people on the WWE rosters, it can be difficult to find something for everyone to do. One of the worst things that can happen is to see someone just disappear with no explanation. If nothing else, it can suggest that there is nothing for them to do on the show and that can be quite the problem. Someone has been missing from WWE TV, though it is not clear why.
There are conflicting reports on the absence of Damian Priest. According to Wrestling Observer Live, Damian Priest has been out of action in recent weeks due to a bad back. Priest has had the injury since at least WrestleMania 37, though he worked through the injury on the show. However, according to Fightful Select, Priest did have a back injury but it is not the reason he has been missing from television. Instead, he has been off due to WWE creative having nothing for him.
After a two year run in NXT, where he wont he North American Title, Priest made his main roster debut at the Royal ..

New Direction Coming For NXT Stars

It’s a different way to go. NXT is in a unique place in the wrestling world as not only does it serve as its own television show, but also as the place for new WWE stars to get their start. That can make things a little trickier than usual, but it also means you can see some interesting things take place. We might be seeing that again with a rather specific group of people.
According to Fightful Select, WWE is currently planning to focus more on the cruiserweights in NXT. This will involve a focus on Kushida, the reigning Cruiserweight Champion. These plans have been in place for several weeks, as NXT has been very high on Kushida since he debuted. Kushida was in action in the main event of this week’s edition of NXT, losing in a non-title match to Kyle O’Reilly. Following the match, the Diamond Mine debuted and attacked Kushida, with manager Malcolm Bivens holding the Cruiserweight Title in front of Diamond Mine member Roderick Strong.

Huge Title Match Set For Great American Bash

They’re up next. There are all kinds of stars on the NXT roster with so many options available to showcase on any given night. Some of those shows are bigger than others though, which is where NXT offers its bigger shows. That is going to be the case in a few weeks, as NXT presents the Great American Bash. Now we know one of the bigger matches on the show.
An NXT Tag Team Title match was announced for the July 6 Great American Bash during this week’s NXT, as Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher will challenge MSK for the titles. This comes after Ciampa and Thatcher defeated the Grizzled Young Veterans in a Texas Tornado match on June 15. MSK has held the titles since Night One of NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver on April 7, when they defeated the Grizzled Young Veterans and Legado del Fantasma.
The match should be awesome. Check out how we got here and what we might be seeing:

VIDEO: New Stable Debuts In NXT With Surprising Return

Welcome back/nice to meet you. Sometimes a wrestler needs a fresh coat of paint and it can be rather easy to put them together with someone else. You can do this in the form of a tag team, but other times, one of the best ideas available is for a few people to be put together into a unit. That seems to be the case again on NXT, as some people have formed a new group.
This week’s NXT saw the debut of the Diamond Mine, a stable which had been teased for several weeks. The Diamond Mine debuted at the end of the show, with the three members attacking Kushida following the show’s main event. With Kushida laid out, the group revealed itself as Roderick Strong, Tyler Rust and Hideki Suzuki, the latter of whom was making his NXT debut. Malcolm Bivens was revealed as the team’s manager and handed Strong the Cruiserweight Title.
Strong has been absent from NXT since April 13 when he took a hiatus after the Undisputed Era came to an end. When Strong left, General Manager William Regal said that..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – June 22, 2021

NXT
Date: June 22, 2021
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, Beth Phoenix
It’s another pretty big show this week as Kyle O’Reilly faces Kushida. That’s an interesting way to go but it doesn’t do much good for the title itself. The easiest way to make a title valuable is to have people fight over it and the title isn’t on the line here. We also find out what the Diamond Mine is, which has me curious. Let’s get to it.
The narrated recap talks about Samoa Joe’s return last week and the chaos between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly.
Here is Adam Cole to pick his opponent for his match against Kyle O’Reilly. Cole isn’t going to do that because no one is going to tell him what to do. Samoa Joe may be back, but he isn’t the big star around here anymore. Cue Carmelo Hayes to say he’ll change Cole’s mind. Cole wants to know how so Hayes says RUTHLESS AGGRESSION and slaps him in the face to start things off.

SmackDown Star Taking Time Away From WWE

See you down the road. Wrestling is one of the hardest sports in the world for its athletes, if nothing else because of how little time off wrestlers have. Throw in the fact that things are starting to pick back up after the Coronavirus restrictions and WWE wrestlers are going to be thrown back into the deep end in a hurry. This time though, one wrestler might be missing for a little while.
WWE’s Kevin Owens has sent out a message on Twitter, saying that he will be taking a little break and will be back soon. While not confirmed, this would suggest that Owens is going to be missing some time away from WWE. Owens lost in a match to Sami Zayn at Hell In A Cell, during which he was having trouble breathing after being attacked by Commander Azeez on SmackDown. There is also a chance that Owens injured his shoulder during the match, though this is not confirmed.
I fought like hell.
Now, I need a little break.
I’ll be back soon.
Thank you, guys.

What Happened On Raw For The First Time In 22 Years

It has been awhile. There are certain gimmick matches that become signatures in wrestling companies and that can make for some great moments when the matches take place. That is certainly the case for WWE, which has been around for a very long time now and built up quite a few traditional matches of its own. One of those was on display again quite a few times this weekend and then again later.
This week’s Monday Night Raw featured a Hell In A Cell match with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley defeating Xavier Woods in a non-title match. The match was not advertised in advance and came the night after the Hell In A Cell pay per view event, which featured two matches inside Hell In A Cell. Last week’s SmackDown also featured a match inside Hell In A Cell as Universal Champion Roman Reigns retained against Rey Mysterio. Lashley vs. Woods marked the first Hell In A Cell match on Monday Night Raw since August 24, 1998.
It was a busy weekend for the Cell. Check out the four matches taking place in..

Several Money In The Bank Ladder Match Spots Filled

The field is filling up. We are less than a month away from WWE’s annual Money in the Bank pay per view event and that means it is time to start getting ready for the show’s namesake matches. This time around that means WWE will be presenting the traditional men’s and women’s Money In The Bank ladder matches, meaning the matches need some participants. We now have quite a few of those set.
Several Money In The Bank ladder match spots were filled during this week’s Monday Night Raw. Four out of eight spots were filled in the women’s match, with, Asuka and Naomi and Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss winning tag team qualifying matches, defeating Eva Marie/Dudrop and Shayna Baszler/Nia Jax respectively. There is no word on when the other four spots will be filled.
Three of the men’s spots were filled as well, with Ricochet, John Morrison and Riddle winning qualifying matches over AJ Styles, Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre respectively. The three losers will compete in a triple threat match next..

REVIEW: In Your House: Canadian Stampede: Oh….Canada

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
In Your House #16: Canadian Stampede
Date: July 6, 1997
Location: Saddledome, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Attendance: 12,151
Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Vince McMahon
This is a show I’ve been waiting to get to for a very long time. Canadian Stampede is considered one of the best shows of all time and ran away with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for show of the year. There are only four matches on the card, but even with so few matches the card is nothing short of stacked. Let’s get to it.
The opening..

Two NXT Champions Appearing On WWE TV This Week *SPOILERS*

Meet the new generation. WWE is a huge wrestling company and as a result they only have so many spots available for all of their talent. At some point you are going to have to bring in some fresh names as you can only do so much with what is currently available. That is where NXT comes in, and a lot of its roster has the skills to be called up immediately. It seems that we could be seeing that with two names soon.
According to PWInsider.com, two NXT champions will be in action on this week’s edition of Main Event. During the show, North American Champion Bronson Reed defeated Drew Gulak and NXT Champion Karrion Kross defeated Shelton Benjamin. This comes after both Reed and Kross were brought in for last week’s SmackDown to work dark matches for scouting before possibly being called up to the main roster later this year.
Reed has held the North American Title since March 7, when he defeated Johnny Gargano in a cage match. His most recent title defense took place in a six man winner t..

WATCH: Monday Night Raw Star Debuts New Character

It’s something new. Characters are one of the most important ideas in all of wrestling. You can only get so far with someone being plain and boring so mixing it up with a different gimmick or personality can make all the difference in the world. Some of these can be rather over the top and that is not a bad idea. It seems to be the case again now, as someone is doing something rather new.
During this week’s Monday Night Raw, Nikki Cross spoke about trying to overcome the odds and embracing her inner spirit. She wore a blue mask and superhero inspired costume, complete with cape, for her Money in the Bank qualifying tag match, where she and Alexa Bliss defeated Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. There is nothing to suggest that Cross will be changing her name to go with the new character.
Cross has wrestled for WWE since 2016, splitting her time between NXT and the main roster. During her time in NXT, she was a member of Sanity, where she was often unhinged in her matches and interviews. She..

WWE RUMOR: Dream Match Planned For Summerslam

You need to start fresh. Summerslam is coming up in about two months and this time around, the show is going to be even bigger than usual. With WWE just coming out of the Coronavirus situation and fans being allowed back on a big scale, it is time to start putting together a major card. WWE is already on that, and now they might have a pretty cool match planned.
According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE is planning to have Set Rollins face Edge at Summerslam. The match has not yet been set up, though Edge has been advertised to return to WWE TV on the July 16 SmackDown. This will be Edge’s first appearance since he lost in the main event of WrestleMania 37. Rollins has recently been feuding with Cesaro, who he defeated at Hell In A Cell. This would be the first time Edge and Rollins have ever faced each other one on one.
Edge came out of retirement at the 2020 Royal Rumble following nearly nine years away from the ring. He would enter a feud with Randy Orton, defeating him a..
