WATCH: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins From “Money In The Bank” 2016

Believe In The Shield. WWE has released a new video on YouTube, in which they show the full match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins from the 2016 Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Dean Ambrose, who won the “Money in the Bank” briefcase earlier in the evening, would strike while the iron was hot, and cash in his contract to become the new champion.

From WWE.com:
The Architect fought like a man looking to reclaim both his title and his pride, facing Reigns for the first time without The Authority or J&J Security ready to intervene on his behalf. Some early ring rust aside, Rollins quickly showed he still possessed the skills that took him to the top. But going toe-to-toe with “The Guy” proved to be a poor strategy when Reigns used his strength advantage to overpower his foe with clotheslines, headbutts and a tilt-a-whirl slam to the reeling Rollins.
The Architect remained defiant, if not competitive, s..

WATCH: This WWE Clip Has Blown Away Everything Else This Week

They have something here. It is no secret that WWE’s televisions audiences are not what they used to be. The drops in the numbers are staggering and shows that fans are not all that interested in what WWE is presenting. That being said, there is certainly still an audience out there and the trick is to make them watch something. It seems that WWE has found something to interest those fans.
Last week’s SmackDown ended with Edge making a surprise return and spearing Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Later in the week, a title match was made between the two for Money In The Bank. Since then, the clip of Edge attacking Reigns has been viewed on WWE’s YouTube account 4.3 million times. In the week before and the week since, only two other videos have broken two million views and nothing has been within a million views of the Edge/Reigns video.
It was a heck of a moment. Check out the big deal, plus some other popular videos from the week:

Del Wilkes, AKA The Patriot, Passes Away At Age 59

We have some sad news to report as Del Wilkes, who was known to WWE fans as The Patriot, has passed away at the age of 59.
From WWE.com:
Before making a name for himself in the squared circle, Wilkes was a standout on the football field for the University of South Carolina, where he earned the distinction of being voted a consensus All-American. After making the switch to sports-entertainment, Wilkes competed all over the world before arriving in WWE in 1997 as The Patriot.
A Superstar quickly on the rise, The Patriot proudly donned the red, white and blue of America in the midst of a rivalry with The Hart Foundation, leading to a memorable match against Bret Hart for the WWE Championship at In Your House: Ground Zero just two months after his WWE debut.
We at Wrestling Rumors extend our deepest condolences to the Wilkes family during this difficult time.

Lana Discusses Infamous Heat In WWE, What Caused The Initial Problem

What’s in a name? There are so many wrestlers who have appeared in WWE over the years that they can have a hard time standing out. Sometimes someone does manage to get you attention over the rest, but that does not mean it is a good thing. Every now and then you find something that earns you a reputation, and this time around we get to hear about it from a big more free opener.
CJ Perry, best known as Lana during her time in WWE, appeared on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast to discuss her time in WWE. During the interview, Perry discussed the heat that she received in 2015 for sending out photos her her marrying Rusev, who she was feuding with at the time, causing them to be made public. Perry was taken off of television for three months as a result and ultimately became much more careful about her photos. Even following the on-screen split from her storyline husband Bobby Lashley, Perry waited over a month before posting photos of her real life husband.

REVIEW: Money In The Bank 2020: Your Briefcase Is In Another Tower

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Money In The Bank 2020
Date: May 10, 2020
Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Samoa Joe, Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips
It’s a special event this time around as the majority of the show will be taking place in the Performance Center but the two ladder matches, taking place at the same time because reasons, are to be held at WWE Headquarters in Connecticut. This could be anywhere between a disaster or fascinating, or perhaps a combination of both. Let’s get to it.

New NXT Wrestlers Get Dark Match Tryouts Before SmackDown

Keep them moving. NXT has a weird role to play in the wrestling world as not only does it have its own television to worry about, but it also has to help create the next WWE stars of the future. That is a lot easier said than done, but it can be interesting to see an NXT star move up to the main roster. Now we might have an idea of some other names getting the chance to move up.
According to PWInsider.com, NXT wrestlers worked more dark matches before this week’s edition of SmackDown. There were three matches this week, including:
Shotzi Blackheart vs. Tony Storm Odyssey Jones vs. Robert Roode Karrion Kross vs. Cesaro This is the second time that Blackheart has worked a SmackDown dark match and the third for Kross. These matches are part of an effort by WWE to find talent ready to move up to potentially move up to the main roster later this year. While it has not been confirmed, the moves are rumored to be part of the 2021 WWE Draft, which will be held in the fall.

VIDEO: AEW Star Cuts Promo Before Eye Surgery

Hopefully it works. Every wrestler has some kind of medical issues, even if they are minor problems. At the same time though, there are some wrestlers who have major issues that have to be dealt with in one way or another. Some of these are things that could end a career if not corrected, along with changing someone’s life in a bad way. One wrestler is dealing with just such a problem.
AEW’s Anthony Ogogo has released a video on Twitter, announcing that he is undergoing eye surgery to fix a deviated septum. Ogogo blames the injury on Billy Gunn sending him into the barricade and promises to get even with Gunn no matter what. There is no word on how long Ogogo will be out of action with the injury. Ogogo’s most recent match, the fifth of his career, took place on the June 4 edition of AEW Dynamite.
Ogogo is a former British Olympic boxer who was forced to retire due to his eye injuries. Ogogo is blind in his left eye and has had ten operations on his eyes over the years. As mentioned ..

Someone Else Has Qualified For Money In The Bank

There is another. We are just over two weeks away from Money In The Bank and that means things are starting to pick up steam in WWE. There are a lot of wrestlers who are starting to get ready for the show, especially the two namesake ladder matches. A spot in that match can mean a lot and that means the spots are going to fill up fast. Now we have one less spot open.
This week on SmackDown, Kevin Owens qualified for the Men’s Money In The Bank ladder match by defeating Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing match. The match makes Owens the sixth entrant in the match and the second from SmackDown, joining Drew McIntyre, John Morrison, Ricochet, Riddle and Big E. Owens has been in three previous Money In The Bank ladder matches but has never won.
Owens has a history at Money In The Bank. Check out his time at the show:

BREAKING: Surprise Return Takes Place On SmackDown

Welcome back. The WWE roster has changed several times in the last year, with all kinds of wrestlers leaving the promotion. Those changes have made quite the impact, as the roster has been shaken up, cut down and expanded again at times, all for a variety of reasons. There was one case that was a little different than the rest, and now that one has been reversed.
Zelina Vega made a surprise return to WWE during this week’s SmackDown. Sonya Deville announced Vega as the second SmackDown woman in the Money in the Bank ladder match, joining Carmella. Following the announcement, Liv Morgan came out to complain about Vega being put in the match and slapped her in the face. This led to a match between the two, with Morgan winning.
Vega was released from the company in November due to issues over her third party promotions, including her Twitch channel. There is no word on if the situation will change now that Vega has returned to the company. Prior to her return, Vega’s most recent match i..

Title Match With Stipulations Set For WWE Money In The Bank

Put it on the card. We are less than a month away from not only Money In The Bank, but also fans returning at full capacity to WWE events. That is going to make things all the more interesting in a hurry for both the company and the fans at home. Since WWE is going to want to put on something special, it means that there are going to be some major matches added to the pay per view. One of them was added this week.
This week on SmackDown, an I Quit match was set for Money in the Bank as SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair challenged Bayley. Belair said that Bayley is in her head and needs to take it to an extreme to get rid of her. Bayley accepted the match, offering to leave WWE and quit competing should she lose. This will be their third straight pay per view match, with Belair winning at WrestleMania Backlash and at Hell In A Cell, with the latter in the show’s namesake match.
There is a history here. Check out how we got to this match:

WWE Taking Another Big Step Back To Normal This Fall

They’re going home. WWE has been around for a very long time now and that means there are certain things that are going to be important to their history. It makes sense to have the company focus on those things more intently than others and it means something to see them back in play. That is going to be the case again later this year, with WWE heading back to their home.
WWE has announced that they will be returning to Madison Square Garden for SmackDown on September 10. This will be their return to the arena following the Coronavirus pandemic, which canceled several planned shows for the venue. It will be WWE’s first event at Madison Square Garden since December 26, 2019 and their first SmackDown at the venue since September 10, 2019.
This is home for WWE. Check out what has happened there before:

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results – July 2, 2021

Smackdown
Date: July 2, 2021
Location: Yuengling Center, Tampa, Florida
Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee
We are two weeks away from the return of fans and that means things might be picking up around here. The big story coming out last week’s show saw the return of Edge as he attacked Roman Reigns. The Money in the Bank title match has since been set so it is time for some heavy talking. Let’s get to it.
We open with a recap of Roman Reigns having no one left to challenge him, leading to the return of Edge.
Here is Edge to get things going. Edge talks about how Wrestlemania was supposed to be the big culmination to his story. Winning the Universal Title ten years to the day of vacating the World Title would be a heck of a story, but then it didn’t happen. That rocked him so he took some time away. Edge has thought about the match since and even watched it back, which he never does. He could complain about a lot of things from that match, just like 2006 Edge would.
Now it’s 20..
