WWE Considering Bringing Back Series Of Live Events

It could help things a lot. NXT is in a weird place as it is the official WWE developmental territory, but also airing on national television every single week. That makes things all the more complicated as the wrestlers are not exactly able to get a chance to hone their skills. What they need is more ring time and a chance to learn in front of some smaller crowds. WWE used to have that kind of an option and now they migth be bringing it back.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is considering bringing back NXT live events. WWE stopped running such events in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. There is no word on if this will be back on a nationwide scale or just in Florida. Should it be Florida, WWE would only be running events in small venues, with around 200 seats at any given venue.
Opinion: This is exactly what a place like NXT needs. Getting their rookies out there with about five minutes a week isn’t going to help them, but putting them in the ring for ten minut..

Another WWE Name Requests Release After Long Run With Company

He isn’t a fan either. The WWE roster has changed so much in recent years that it is hard to keep track of where everyone is going. That is not exactly a great thing to see, as several wrestlers are going all over the place, with most of them making their way out of the company. Some wrestlers have even done this by choice, and that seems to be the case again with another veteran.
According to PWInsider.com, Brian Kendrick has requested his release from WWE. Kendrick has been working as a coach and occasional wrestler, though he has not wrestled a match since October. He had been scheduled for a match against Harland in NXT but the match never took place. Kendrick has reportedly requested his release from the company for the last six weeks.
Kendrick has wrestled on and off for WWE for several years in multiple stints. He is a former Tag Team and Cruiserweight Champion who has most recently wrestled on 205 Live. His most recent run in WWE began when he took part in the Cruiserweight C..

WWE Star May Be Returning From Injury Sooner Than Expected

Welcome back. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and it is never good to see someone be put on the shelf. The fun part is seeing the wrestlers making their return though, and sometimes that can happen sooner rather than later. Thankfully that seems like it will be the case later this week, and it is something that is happening a bit earlier than expected.
According to PWInsider, King Woods is expected to return to the road with WWE starting this week on SmackDown. Woods has been out of action for several weeks with a calf injury, which was scheduled to keep him out of action for four to six weeks. At the moment, it is not expected that Woods will return to the ring immediately and it is not clear when he will have his next match.
Opinion: It’s great to hear that Woods is back on his feet sooner than later. If nothing else, it will be nice to have him there to do some more of the talking, as he tends to shine with everything that he does on the microphone. I doubt he makes i..

Game Changer Wrestling The Wrld On GCW Results

The Wrld On GCW
Date: January 23, 2022
Location: Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City, New York
Commentators: Dave Prazak, Kendall Gill
Hosts: Lenny Leonard, Pollo del Mar
Every now and then a show catches my attention and I’ll add it to the schedule. That is the case here, as GCW has become the hottest indy around at the moment and I’m going to give it a shot. I am absolutely not a fan of the deathmatch stuff, but apparently that kind of wrestling is not allowed in New York so we get a bit of a reprieve here. Let’s get to it.
Note that I barely follow GCW so I am not going to know much in the way of storylines or characters so please bear with me if I miss something.
Kickoff Show: Blue Ribbon Battle Royal Psycho Clown, Dark Sheik, Cole Radrick, Parrow, Hoodfoot, Ruckus, Charles Mason, KTB, Juicy Finau, Steve Scott, Nate Webb, Big Vin, Brandon Kirk, Janai Kai, Dustin Thomas, Marcus Mathers, Yoya, B-Boy, Lufisto, Thunder Rosa

REVIEW: Royal Rumble 2016: One vs. All

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Royal Rumble 2016
Date: January 24, 2016
Location: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida
Attendance: 15,170
Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Byron Saxton
Now this one actually has my interest for a change. A year ago, WWE decided that the right idea was to have WWE World Champion Roman Reigns fight everyone in a single match for the title. This is completely different as now he fights everyone for the US Title. Anyway, the whole thing is about the main event, as it should be, so let’s get to it.

WATCH: This Year’s WWE Rumble By The Numbers Video

It’s that time of year. The Royal Rumble is coming up at the end of the week and that means it is time to get on the Road to WrestleMania. There are still several steps left to cover though and the Royal Rumble is one of the biggest. The show has been around for thirty four years now and we will be seeing another edition soon. However, there is still time to take a look back at Rumbles past.
WWE has released its annual Rumble By The Numbers video. The video looks at a history of the Royal Rumble with a series of statistics, including the total number of entrants in the matches’ history, as well as a look at the winners’ success rates at WrestleMania. As was the case last year, WWE released the video on its YouTube channel rather than on one of their television shows.
This is always special. Check out this year’s edition:

Opinion: I look forward to this every year as there is something very cool about seeing this kind of a statistical break..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Possible Signs Of Another Impending WWE Departure

So long and farewell? There have been so many changes to the WWE roster in recent years and some of the biggest have been in NXT. The NXT roster has been ripped apart and there is almost nothing left from the show’s most famous stretch. These changes have not exactly stopped and now another longstanding NXT name might be on his way out. We might even have some evidence.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, there is a chance that Roderick Strong may be on his way out of NXT. Strong and his wife, former NXT star Marina Shafir, have opened a Pro Wrestling Tees store. In addition, Strong has been losing most of his matches as of late, with his most recent victory taking place at NXT WarGames on December 15. This is seen as speculation at this point, though NXT has released wrestlers o little notice in the last year.
Opinion: The more I think about it, the more I think Strong might be on his way out. At the end of the day, Strong is 38 years old and doesn’t exactly fit the mold that WWE wants. ..

More On Potential Huge Royal Rumble Return, Possible WrestleMania Match

She could be useful. WrestleMania 38 is less than three months away and WWE is in a bit of a weird predicament. The company has let a lot of wrestlers go and as a result, there are not very many huge stars on top of the lineup. WWE needs to come up with something to make it work out, and one of the best options might be bringing in outside help. That seems to be the case, and now we might know some more about the plans.
Earlier this week, a report came out that WWE is hoping to bring back Ronda Rousey, with a return at the Royal Rumble being a possibility. According to Wrestling Observer Live, Rousey is scheduled to be at the Royal Rumble and will set up her WrestleMania 38 match. There is no definitive word on what Rousey would be doing at either show and WWE has made no reference to her.
Rousey made her debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble and went on to make her in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 later in the year. Over the course of her WWE career, she would win the Raw Women’s Title at ..

Several New Names Announced For Royal Rumble

The field keeps getting stacked. The Royal Rumble is less than five days away and that means WWE has a lot of spots to fill in and not much time left to do it. There have been a lot of names set already but WWE likes to wait until the very last minute to make some announcements. That was the case again this week, as some more names were added to the fields.
WWE has announced that seven more names have been added to the men’s Royal Rumble field. Before this week’s Monday Night Raw went on the air, WWE tweeted that the following names had joined the match:
Omos
Randy Orton
Riddle
Chad Gable
Otis
Dolph Ziggler
Robert Roode
With these new additions, there are twenty two out of thirty entrants announced for the men’s match. At the same time, there are also twenty two entrances set for the women’s edition. There is no word on if any more names will be announced.

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – January 24, 2022

Monday Night Raw
Date: January 24, 2022
Location: Huntington Center, Toledo, Ohio
Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton
It’s the go home show for the Royal Rumble and that could mean a few things. While the show is mostly set on the Raw side, there is always room to get in the final push towards Saturday and odds are that is what we are getting tonight. If nothing else, we have Miz celebrating Maryse’s birthday, which sounds shenanigansy. Let’s get to it.
We’re starting big this week with the official weigh-in between Bobby Lashley (with MVP) and Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman). Lesnar is looking rather casual in jeans and a cowboy hat, which Corey Graves doesn’t like. That earns him a threat, but Lashley goes first and weighs 273lbs. MVP says the match has been in the making for a long time but don’t worry, because Lashley will be gaining weight after the Rumble: the exact same weight as that title.
Lesnar goes next, and does at least take off his hat, allowing him ..

WWE Discussing Major Return, Possibly As Soon As The Royal Rumble

Back in the fold? We are less than a week away from the Royal Rumble and that means it is time to get ready for the Road To WrestleMania 38. WWE has a lot of work to do to get ready for the biggest event of the year and that means getting a lot of big names in position for the show. Some of them have not been around in a long time, but WWE might be bringing one of them back.
According to Fightful Select, WWE is having internal discussions about bringing back former Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. The discussions have reached the point where they are considered a “poorly kept secret” in the company. Rousey has been discussed as a possible women’s Royal Rumble entrant but nothing has been confirmed. Rousey’s return is said to be a matter of “when” rather than “if”. She has not wrestled since WrestleMania 35 and gave birth to her daughter in September.
Opinion: I would be happy to see Rousey back in WWE, but after several previous mentions of her return, I’ll believe it when I see it..

Several New WWE Events Announced For WrestleMania 38 Weekend

The calendar grows. We are less than three months away from WrestleMania 38 and that means it is time to start getting things set up. You can probably guess a few of the matches from here, but there are more than a few other things taking place over WrestleMania weekend. Those events have not been around in recent years, but now it is time to add a few things to this year’s schedule.
The Dallas Morning News has announced that there will be a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, some form of Axxess and NXT Stand & Deliver event taking place in Dallas, Texas over WrestleMania weekend. There are no more details about when or where either event will be taking place, though WrestleMania 38 will take place on Saturday April 2 and Sunday April 3. There has not been a traditional Hall of Fame induction ceremony since 2019 and last year’s NXT Stand & Deliver event took place at the WWE Performance Center.
Opinion: I’m really not sure what to expect from the weekend, but it could certainly look in..
