WATCH: NXT UK Title Match Ended Early Due To Nasty Injury

That doesn’t sound good. There are some very talented wrestlers in the world today and a lot of them could thrive at any level in any place around the industry. There are some things that are universal among them though and that includes the chance for them to be injured. Certain kinds of injuries can put someone on the shelf for a very long time and that seems to be what took place this week.
The main event of this week’s edition of NXT UK featured a main event of NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura defending her title against Blair Davenport. The match saw Satomura successfully defend her title when the referee stopped the match due to Davenport suffering an injury. Late in the match, Davenport hit a top rope double stomp to Satomura as she laid on the apron. Davenport landed awkwardly and injured her ankle, resulting in the match being stopped. She would later send out a tweet, showing herself on crutches and her ankle in a cast. There is no word on how long Davenport will be ou..

New Title Match Set For WWE Elimination Chamber

The card is growing. We are on the way to WrestleMania 38 but there is one more stop on the road. This time around, the turn is taking them all the way to Saudi Arabia, as WWE will be running its annual Elimination Chamber event in the kingdom. The show is going to be built around the show’s namesake match but there are some other matches that need to be added to the event. Now we know something else added to the card.
WWE has announced that the Usos will defend their Tag Team Titles against the Viking Raiders at Elimination Chamber on February 19. The match came about when the Viking Raiders won a fatal four way in January to earn the shot at the titles. This will be the first televised two on two tag match between the teams, though they have met in a series of live event six and eight man tag matches.
Opinion: This is the kind of match that you need to add to a show to fill it out a bit and they have picked a good one. It is hard to believe that these teams have never faced off and..

205 Live Results – January 28, 2022

We’re coming up on the Royal Rumble and that means absolutely nothing around here, as none of these people are going to be anywhere near a match that big for a long time. At this point, all that matters is having a show without any kind of a disaster, which may or may not be the case here. Let’s get to it.
Josh Briggs vs. Damon Kemp Brooks Jensen is here with Briggs. Kemp drives Briggs up against the ropes to no avail to start so he does it again for about the same result. Back up and Briggs’ running shoulder has no effect so he kicks Kemp down instead. The fans want to see it again but have to settle for a running elbow in the corner.
Kemp uppercuts his way out of trouble as commentary talks about the Royal Rumble. A Big Boss Man sliding underneath the ropes uppercut gives Briggs two and we hit the chinlock. That doesn’t last long as Kemp fights up and hits..

Ring Of Honor TV Results – February 2, 2022

Ring of Honor
Date: February 2, 2022
We’re about two months away from the relaunch and that means Ring of Honor should be able to get through with the recent content. Last week saw a few matches from last year’s Final Battle and odds are that is what we are going to be getting here. There is a good chance that some of these wrestlers won’t be around going forward, but at least they went out well. Let’s get to it.
The matches are from Final Battle 2021.
Opening sequence.
Rok-C is ready to defend the Women’s Title against Willow Nightingale.
Women’s Title: Willow Nightingale vs. Rok-C Rok-C is defending but gets taken down to start, allowing Willow to bust out a cartwheel. Willow blocks the running knees but Rok-C manages to snap off a running headscissors. Back up and Willow can’t quite hit Three Amigos, so she plants Rok-C for two instead. This time Rok-C fights up with a Russian legsweep but Willow plants her for two more. A Pounce rocks Rok-C, sending commentary into various Mon..

REVIEW: Clash Of Champions 2019: And Then The Scary Part

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

Even though titles are an everyday part of wrestling, we have here a full show all about them, because most shows need to have a theme these days. There are a lot of matches crammed onto this show, though thankfully they have moved King of the Ring to Raw tomorrow to save some space. Let’s get to it.
I was in the arena for this show..

WATCH: Former UFC Star Makes Surprising AEW Return

That could be a success. There is a long history of mainstream athletes crossing over into wrestling. Some of them have made full on careers out of the move while others only pop in for a little while. Mixed martial artists have had a nice bit of success in wrestling, with names like Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey at the top of the list. Now we might be seeing another one trying her hand at wrestling.
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured an argument between Dam Lambert and Brandi Rhodes. Lambert said that he would not lay a hand on Rhodes, but he knew someone who would. This brought out Paige VanZant, who got in a pull apart brawl with Rhodes. VanZant had made some appearances with Lambert as part of his American Top Team mixed martial artists. There is no word on when or if VanZant will be wrestling a match.
It was a busy night. Check out how the return and brawl went down:

You Might Be Seeing More Of A Celebrity In WWE

He might not be done. There is a long history of celebrities in wrestling and that is something that will likely continue for a long time to come. It can be interesting to see people come out of their world and move into the wrestling bubble, even if it is for a short amount of time. That was the case over the weekend, but there might be an extension in this situation.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE has sent out a fan survey suggesting that Johnny Knoxville may be returning to the company. The survey asked about Knoxville’s time in WWE and also about the possibility of him coming back. In addition, the survey asked fans for their thoughts on WWE matches and their main television shows. Knoxville appeared on several editions of WWE SmackDown in a feud with Sami Zayn, as well as participating in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble.
Opinion: Your individual tastes in Knoxville may vary, but at least he did something short and to the point without becoming annoying. Knoxville did very little..

Action: Trish Stratus To Star In Upcoming Film

It’s another career path. Wrestlers have an interesting history when it comes to acting. There have been several wrestlers who have dabbled in acting over the years but there are very few who have been major successes. Despite this, there is a reason for wrestlers to try their hand at acting and now another wrestling legend is giving it a shot. It even seems like she is having some success.
Trish Stratus has announced that she will be starring in a new holiday film, which will begin filming later this month. There is no word on the title or the plot of the film, or where it will be available. The film will be released by the end of the year in some form. Stratus has dabbled in acting in recent years, including a co-starring role in last year’s Christmas In The Rockies.
Opinion: That’s pretty cool to hear as Stratus is starting to get a bit of a side career going. She has long since retired from the ring and it is nice to see her getting to do something outside of the ring. If she is ..

WWE Trying Something Different For This Year’s Hall Of Fame Ceremony

It’s a different way to go. We are officially on the Road to WrestleMania 38 and that means it is time to get ready for everything that WWE has planned. There are more than a few things to set up before we get there though and some of those things are more important than others. Some of them are more about the past than the present and this year, WWE might be trying something different.
According to PWInsider.com, WWE is planning on holding this year’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony after the April 1 edition of SmackDown. The ceremony will be helped from 10:30pm EST until midnight EST in the American Airlines Center. Rather than a separate ticketed event, the show will be a bonus for the fans in attendance for SmackDown. WWE has yet to announce any members of the class.
Opinion: This is a change of pace and it might be in a good way. If WWE is going to be running WrestleMania as a two night event, there are only so many ways to go to run everything in the same weekend. I think I lik..

More On What Led To Shane McMahon’s WWE Departure

It’s a little more complicated. There are a lot of people involved in putting WWE together and several of them have authority. Having so many people with the power to change a show can make things complicated. One person has to be in charge of the whole situation though and in WWE’s case, that is Vince McMahon. If he makes a decision, it is usually the final call, which is what led to an important situation this week.
Earlier this week, news broke that Shane McMahon had been sent home from WWE following reports of issues involving how he put together the men’s Royal Rumble match last weekend. Shane had reportedly wanted to make the match about himself, but that was not how things went. According to PWInsider.com, Shane had been frustrated that several of his ideas had been shot down by Vince, and that he did not get to have the focus in the match that he wanted. There is no word on if or when Shane will return to WWE.
Opinion: This is the kind of story that actually seems like a big ..

Here’s Why An NXT Tournament Can’t Start (And It’s A Pretty Bad Problem)

They might need to work on that. A tournament is one of the easiest concepts in all of wrestling. You have a bunch of people and put them together into a bracket and see who is the last one standing. Maybe it’s one wrestler or one team, but ultimately it is about finding the best of the field. That is harder than it sounds in some ways though, and that is the case again at the moment.
WWE has promoted the second annual women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic for the last several weeks, but the tournament has yet to begin. According to Wrestling Observer Live, the tournament has yet to start because there are not enough teams available. Only a few teams have been announced and there have been no brackets revealed for the tournament. No official start date was ever given aside from February.
Opinion: I’m not sure what can be done here, as NXT just does not have the roster to make something like this work without having almost all hands on deck. There are only so many women in NXT and I’m..

Brian Kendrick’s AEW Debut Pulled From Dynamite Due To Offensive Comments

Prior to tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan took to Twitter and announced that the upcoming debut of Brian Kendrick would not be taking place as advertised. This was due to a resurfacing of some comments that Kendrick made about a decade ago.
The statement is as follows:
We’ve been made aware of abhorrent & offensive comments made in the past by Brian Kendrick. There’s no room in AEW for the views expressed by Brian. We think it’s best for all that Brian be pulled from tonight’s card as we gather more info. We’ll announce a replacement bout ASAP.
