Impact Wrestling
Date: February 3, 2022
Location: Charles Dodge Center, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan
We are on the way to No Surrender and things are starting to pick up. The main event is already set with W. Morrissey getting his World Title shot against Moose, but there is another major match on the card in a different way. The other major match will see a team of Impact wrestlers facing off with Honor No More, which should boost the story that much more. Other than that, the Bullet Club seems to be here again. Let’s get to it.
Opening recap.
Opening sequence.
Digital Media Title: Matt Cardona vs. Jordynne Grace Cardona is challenging and shoves Grace around a few times to start, which has Grace a bit surprised. Grace’s running shoulders don’t do much good so she trips Cardona down instead. Cardona misses a neckbreaker but Grace misses a Vader bomb, allowing Cardona to suplex her into the corner. A regular suplex drops Grace again and ther..

Tony Khan Says Some Wrestlers Will Have To Leave AEW

There isn’t room for everyone. AEW has come a long way in its few years of existence and a lot of that is due to its roster. The company has put together an incredible mixture of veterans, current stars and up and comers, which has allowed for quite the successful setup. However, as AEW continues to bring in more and more wrestlers, there are only so many places for all of them and that seems to be the case again.
During a recent interview with TV Insider, AEW President Tony Khan spoke about the company’s contract situations. Khan said that he tried to make sure to keep as many wrestlers under contract during the Coronavirus pandemic as he could for the sake of keeping them employed. However, now that there are several new wrestlers coming in to AEW and so many contracts expiring, Khan will not be able to keep everyone. Khan said he is making his decisions based on ability, fan response, or a combination of both.
Opinion: This doesn’t come off as the biggest surprise and it isn’t a b..

Catch You Later: NXT Star Announces She Is Leaving WWE

Some people have to go. There are so many people on the WWE roster that the company has split them up into a few different rosters. That can make things a bit more interesting as WWE keeps Monday Night Raw and SmackDown fairly even, with NXT as a somewhat distant third. Then there is a fourth roster with NXT UK, which does not get quite the same level of attention. NXT UK has some talented wrestlers, but now one of them is on her way out.
NXT UK’s Candy Floss has announced that she is leaving the company. Floss spoke about her departure due to her contract expiring on Twitter, where she talked about how her mother passed away from breast cancer in May 2019 before signing with WWE in January 2020. Her mother’s death caused her to develop PTSD, which caused her to take time away from the ring to deal with her mental health. Floss said WWE could not have been more supportive and said she would be continuing her wrestling career. She has not wrestled since October 2019 and only wrestled f..

Former World Champion Implies He Will Be A Free Agent

The next big name. Wrestling has changed a lot in the last few years and a good bit of that is due to the rise of AEW. The company has allowed several wrestlers to have a new platform in the wrestling world and that is a great thing for everyone involved. It has certainly opened up the free agent market in a great way and now another big name might be added to the mix.
Former Impact Wrestling World Champion Josh Alexander has sent out a tweet suggesting that he is moving on from the company. Alexander says that he is grateful for his three years in the company and thanks Impact for giving him the confidence to know that he is able to be an elite performer. This comes after Alexander was “sent home” during an angle on this week’s Impact Wrestling. There is nothing in the tweet about where Alexander may be wrestling next.

Opinion: I don’t think the question has been “will Alexander leave” so much as “when will Alexander lea..

What’s Next: Update On Goldberg’s Future WWE Status

Enjoy him while you can. WWE has reached the busiest part of its year and that means it is time to start being a bit more serious. This includes bringing in some names that might not be around for the rest of the year but still get a reaction. Some of these reactions might be more positive than others, but in this case, it is a reaction that you might not be hearing for very much longer.
Last week, Goldberg made his return on SmackDown, announcing that he would be challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia on February 19. According to Wrestlinginc., Goldberg is scheduled for the next two editions of SmackDown, including this week’s and the February 18 edition, which will also be taped this week. Those will be Goldberg’s final scheduled appearances with WWE. Goldberg has said that he has one more match on his WWE contract, but there is a chance that the two sides could come to terms on a new deal.
Opinion: While I would not be surprised to ..

KB’s Review: All Elite Feelings

I think it’s safe to say that I like to watch a lot of wrestling. It’s something I do quite a bit of, which is partially due to it being my job, but also because it is something I love. Over thirty plus years, I’ve seen probably around 70,000 matches and reviewed almost 7,000 shows. That means I have seen a pretty good bit of wrestling, which can cause a bit of an issue with keeping things fresh. After watching so much, it can take something really special to make me extra interested, but that is what happened this week.
Last week, AEW President Tony Khan announced that someone would be coming to AEW Dynamite to compete in a match with Isiah Kassidy and then sign a contract with the company. That was pretty much all we knew and the guessing game was on. It isn’t like there was anything complicated or detailed to this and that is a great thing. There was a drama and some excitement that isn’t often there and that is what we are going to talk about this week.
In short, I was interested..

WWE Legend Signs New Contract With The Company

Welcome home. There are a lot of wrestlers throughout the history of the industry, but some of their names stand out over the others. That is certainly the case with some wrestling families, as certain families carry a lot of weight in the wrestling world. Sometimes you might not have known about them during their time in the ring, but the truth comes out later. Now things are coming a bit more full circle.
According to the Daily Item (Sunbury, Pennsylvania), WWE Hall of Famer Samu has signed a new “nostalgia” contract with WWE. While not confirmed, this appears to be a Legends deal, meaning that WWE will produce Samu merchandise and have Samu make various appearances. Samu is part of the Anoa’i Family, best known for his time as part of the Wild Samoans. He is also the father of Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Opinion: This is something rather cool for Samu, who is indeed a legend in WWE’s history. He and Afa were one of the more dominant tag teams the company has ever had and it i..

Thank You: WWE Star Does Something Very Nice For Fans

That’s rather kind of him. Wrestlers are a rare breed of people who have to travel the world and work in one city after another over and over again. That is not the kind of thing most people get to do and it can make for some interesting situations. Odds are that can get a bit tiring at times, but there are other times when something stands out. It seems that was the case in the last few days for a current WWE star.
Monday Night Raw’s Kevin Owens posted to Twitter, thanking fans for making three recent events some of the favorite nights of his career. Owens mentioned shows in Salt Lake City, Utah, Boise, Idaho and Denver, Colorado, which took place over the weekend and on Monday Night Raw respectively. On Saturday and Sunday, Owens defeated the Miz and on Monday, he defeated Austin Theory.
Hello!
I just wanted to say, for everyone at the shows in Salt Lake City, Boise and Denver over the weekend and on Monday:
Those were legitimately 3 of my favourite (??) nights in my career. Spec..

REVIEW: Summerslam 2003: The Chamber Sequel

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Summerslam 2003
Date: August 24, 2003
Location: America West Arena, Phoenix, Arizona
Attendance: 16,113
Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, Tazz
It’s one of the biggest shows of the year and I can’t bring myself to get excited over it. This show really hasn’t been built up very well with only the Smackdown World Title match with Kurt Angle defending against Brock Lesnar offering much interest. The rest of the show feels very flat, especially the Raw World Title match which should have been Goldberg..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Locker Room Unhappy Over Superstar’s Treatment

He has his supporters. There are so many wrestlers on the WWE roster that some of them are going to be more popular than others. It is nice to hear about someone getting a positive reception backstage, which is often due to the hard work and effort that they have put in over the years. Now it seems that the locker room is not happy with how one of the more popular wrestlers have been treated.
Back at WWE Day One on January 1, Big E. lost the WWE Title to Brock Lesnar. Since his loss, Big E. has been moved back to SmackDown and put back in a tag team with Kofi Kingston. According to a PW Torch podcast, the WWE locker room is unhappy with how Big E. has been treated. Big E. is popular in the WWE locker room and his current treatment is not seen as fair. There is nothing to suggest that WWE will be changing anything about Big E.’s booking anytime soon.
Opinion: I can completely get something like this, as Big E. did not get much of a chance to be viewed as a top star. He won the title v..

Here’s What WWE Had Planned For A Recent Kurt Angle Return

There was something to that. Every now and then, you see a story that goes well on its own, but could have been that much better with one more change. That might be a different direction, a different result, or even a different wrestler involved. It seems that WWE had an idea of how to upgrade a recent storyline, but for some reason they did not go in that direction. However, we do know what might have been in the plans.
Over the last few weeks, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle revealed that he was in discussions to be brought in for a short for storyline. The plans were canceled for reasons that were not clear, but Angle never revealed what he was supposed to do. According to Fightful Select, Angle would have been part of the Academic Challenge between RKBro and the Alpha Academy. Had Angle been involved, the challenge would have been the Three I’s Challenge, as a takeoff of Angle’s Intensity, Integrity and Intelligence catchphrase. It is not clear why WWE changed their minds on the stor..

AEW Dropped A Hint Of A Major Future Free Agent Signing

They might be building to something. Wrestling fans are living in a pretty amazing era when it comes to pure talent around the world. There are so many skilled wrestlers and it is so easy to see a lot of them at any given time. That can be done rather easily in a lot of situations, but sometimes fans have to wait a little bit. That is the case with one legendary star, but now we might be seeing a hint of what is next for him.
This week on AEW Dynamite, Matt Hardy walked out on a match between the debuting Keith Lee and Isiah Kassidy. Hardy walked through the crowd, which was described as “erratic behavior” by commentator Tony Schiavone. This was the same term used to describe Matt’s brother Jeff, who walked out on WWE during a match in December by walking through the crowd in what was described as “erratic behavior”. Jeff’s no compete clause is expected to expire in early March.
Opinion: I don’t think there is any surprise to the idea that Jeff is on his way to AEW. With Matt already..
