WWE Superstar Gets Name Change; GFW Cancels Live Event
Drop the “Samson”
It appears a WWE superstar received a name change during the last couple days. RAW superstar Elias Samson, who is still relatively new to the main roster, will now be known as “Elias.” Based on the WWE.com superstar roster webpage, “Samson” has been dropped from his profile. It’s unclear yet why the surname was dropped but it’s not the first time the WWE suddenly dropped someone’s last name. Big E previously had “Langston” as a last name and Tamina had her “Snuka” family name. Sometimes a person’s first name gets dropped such as “Antonio” Cesaro, “Adrian” Neville, and “Alexander” Rusev.
In rare instances, the WWE may suddenly add a last name. Charlotte simply went by the first name until late last year when “Flair” was added.
Elias’s name change is the latest name alteration this year since former WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins was renamed to “TJP.”
GFW’s Live Taping Canceled
Global Force Wrestling (GFW) canceled its Bridgeport, Connecticut, show scheduled for Sunday, August 6. The Bridgeport show would have been the latest of a string of GFW’s northeast shows, including two in New York on August 4th and August 5th, which are still scheduled to occur.
In a statement, GFW explained:
