WWE SmackDown Ratings, Viewership (10/31/17): Big Drop In Audience For This Week’s Show
The WWE SmackDown ratings data and viewership information are in for this week’s show, and the blue brand saw their numbers take a sharp drop for this week’s show. Tuesday’s show, which featured more hype for Survivor Series, Jinder Mahal take out his aggressions on AJ Styles, and a main event pitting Kevin Owens against Shinsuke Nakamura with a slot on the blue brand’s Survivor Series team at stake, drew 2.119 million viewers. This is down 21.5% from last week’s 2.699 million viewers, and it’s also the lowest number for SmackDown Live since mid-June.
It seems like WWE can draw the audience in for post-PPV shows, and then they lose them. Of course, the lack of follow up on the Under Siege angle may have something to do with it. Fans are looking for immediate gratification, and WWE holding off on the RAW roster getting retribution may not be doing them any favors with their fans. It’s highly unlikely that Tuesday’s show falling on Halloween had much to do with the huge audience drop.
SmackDown Live was #9 in viewership for this week on cable, falling behind Rachel Maddow, The Story, Shephard Smith Reporting, Special Report with Bret Baier, Hannity, Tucker Carlson, The Ingraham Angle, and Your World with Neil Cavuto (the terror attack in New York dominated cable news coverage on Tuesday evening). SmackDown Live was #2 in the 18-49 demographic on cable for the night, falling behind American Horror Story.
In the 18-49 demographic, SmackDown Live garnered a .65 cable rating for the night. This is down from last week’s .73 rating in the same demographic.
