WWE SmackDown Live Results – August 29 2017
Welcome to SmackDown Live for the final time in August 2017!
Last week, Kevin Owens got one more chance to face AJ Styles for the WWE United States Championship, and he got to choose the referee for the match. Owens ended up choosing Baron Corbin as the referee but things didn’t go as planned when Shane McMahon came down to make sure officiating was being done right. Corbin stormed off and Shane ran in to count the final pinfall that means Kevin Owens will never again get to face AJ Styles for the US Championship. Owens was not happy at all and tonight he may be on the warpath, Shane McMahon had better watch out.
AJ Styles on the other hand, is not without an opponent. For weeks Styles has been talking about doing an open challenge like Cena did a few years ago but so far it hasn’t happened. Tonight seems like the night when Styles challenge is laid out and someone answers the call, and that’s a really exciting prospect. Let us know who you would like to see accept Styles’ challenge, be it Sami Zayn or Aleister Black!
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, the new team of Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin are set to make their debut. This team was formed last week thanks to Daniel Bryan and has all the makings of a top-tier WWE team that could challenge The Uso’s for the gold at some point. Gable is a genius in the ring and Shelton Benjamin is an athletic madman and fans will most likely have forgotten how good he is.
Bobby Roode debuted on last week’s SmackDown in a fantastic segment that the fans lost their minds over. It’s difficult to tell if Roode is a babyface or a heel right not but it really doesn’t matter because he’s here to make SmackDown glorious. Dolph Ziggler returned to SmackDown last week and gave a scathing promo on all the other stars on the roster, before saying he would debut next week. Well, next week has arrived and it’s time for Dolph to put or shut-up on this latest run of his.
That’s the preview for tonight’s show! Let us know if you’re excited on the free Ringside Talk app, and, as always, enjoy the show!
