WWE News: Adam Cole Remains Elusive & Reality Star Spotted At Tryouts
Adam Cole Still A Free Agent & WWE Status Up In The Air
As we’ve previously reported, there has long been the assumption that Adam Cole would be headed to WWE at the conclusion of his contract with ROH. At different points both Dave Meltzer and Jim Ross have added credence to these rumors; and Cole himself recently identified NXT as the place he wants to be. Nonetheless, the independent star continues to own the “hottest free agent in the business” moniker.
In a surprise announcement, it was revealed yesterday that Cole will be competing in the International Wrestling Cartel’s annual Super Indy tournament on June 10th. It seems the former three time ROH World Champion’s WWE career remains up in the air, at least for now. Though, it should be noted that the company take a more relaxed position on talent fulfilling independent dates these days. By no means does this indicate both parties won’t join forces in the near future.
Reality Star At WWE Tryouts In The UK
In other news, it recently came to light that Adam Maxted, a previous cast member of the UK’s Love Island reality show was present at WWE tryouts in London last week. The 25 year old, who has been a feature of the UK independent scene for some time was present alongside other known British performers such as Flash Morgan Webster, Stevie Boy and BT Gunn.
It wouldn’t be fair to judge someone on coming from a reality TV background – The Miz’s unexpected rise to WWE prominence alone accounts for that – but the prospect of Maxted gaining a contract with the company isn’t terribly exciting. In something of a vanity project last year, he made headlines after boasting on Instagram of drinking a protein shake in a McDonald’s restaurant, suggesting he was better than everyone there due to his superior diet. He later deleted the post.
