It’s 205 Live time everybody. This week’s show not only features Drew Gulak vs. Mustafa Ali and Jack Gallagher vs. Tony Nese, but it also includes the main event where Rich Swann will take on Neville. How good were these matches? Who was victorious? Let’s find out.

What Went Down

The show began with Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa talking backstage. Swann was talking about how he wanted to get back into cruiserweight championship contention. Titus O’Neil walked up. He presented Tozawa with a contract to the Titus Brand. Tozawa not only didn’t sign, but he didn’t say anything at all to Titus. Titus said he would present Tozawa with an offer he wouldn’t be able to refuse on RAW next week.

Jack Gallagher vs. Tony Nese

This was just your average 205 Live match. Austin Aries was shown watching the match on a TV backstage. Gallagher did some comedy early on such as his headstand in the corner. Nese then beat him up for awhile. Eventually, Gallagher hit a headbutt taking both men down momentarily. The finish came when Nese was in the corner with a “shoulder injury” after a missed moonsault. Gallagher walked toward him, but Nese popped up, threw him into the corner, and hit the Running Knee for the win.

Noam Dar was backstage Face-Timing Alicia Fox. Cedric Alexander walked up and said he wanted to be done with Dar and Fox. Dar told Cedric that if he didn’t leave 205 Live they would make his life a living hell. Dar also told him that he threw his bag into the river. Cedric then showed Dar his bag and let him know he got the wrong one. Ariya Daivari came up asking if anyone had seen his $15,000 bag.

They showed a video package recapping the feud between Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak. This video package was actually quite good and it led to the match between the two.

Mustafa Ali vs. Drew Gulak

Gulak came out with a megaphone and proposed that their match be held in a no fly zone. Ali responded to this proposal by hitting a dive to the outside onto Gulak. This was a short match but it told a consistent story with their others. Ali ran wild early with some high flying offense. This backfired when he went to the top rope and was pushed down to the floor by Gulak, who took control with lots of holds. Ali eventually fought his way out of a headlock and made his comeback. The finish came when Ali went for a move from the middle rope, but was caught by Gulak. Gulak then tried to transition into a submission, but Ali was able to counter into a pin attempt for the win. So Ali won the match with technical offense instead of his usual high flying moves, which Drew Gulak has been protesting against every week.

Austin Aries was talking to Jack Gallagher backstage. Aries said since Gallagher had his back previously, that he would have Gallagher’s back going forward. The two then formed what Austin Aires referred to as a “loose affiliation.”

Rich Swann was stopped by TJP backstage. TJP said that he didn’t appreciate the way Swann had spoken about his recent change of character, but regardless he wanted Swann to go out there and get revenge against Neville for jumping him before their match last week.

Akira Tozawa came out to a VIP seat that was given to him by the Titus Brand.

Neville vs. Rich Swann

This was a really good match. They went back and forth early on. At one point they were fighting for control on the top rope when Swann pushed Neville off, who did a backflip and landed on his feet in the ring. After this Neville countered a frog splash attempt and rolled Swann to the outside where he beat him up all around ringside. Swann made his comeback after Neville rolled him back into the ring. He hit a superkick and an inverted michinoku driver for a nearfall. He then went up top and attempted the Phoenix Splash. Neville rolled out of the way and locked in the Rings of Saturn for the win.

Final Thoughts

This week’s 205 Live was pretty good. The main event was a really good match, which the crowd actually got into by the end. The rest of the show was alright, but nothing was really bad. That tends to be the theme with this show, but since the show itself is so short it is often easy to watch even if some of it is forgettable.
