Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – WWE Storylines Lacking Cohesiveness, Cruiserweights Fighting on Main Roster, Is John Cena A Spot Monkey? More!

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.

To open today’s show, Lane plays a clip of Bryan Alvarez who says that if Enzo Amore defeats Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship, that’ll be the final nail in the coffin for the Cruiserweight division. Russo would like to hear Alvarez’s logic in this case, because he doesn’t understand how someone booking Amore to win a fake Title would be the final nail in any coffin. Lane also points out that the Cruiserweight division is already pretty much dead anyways, and Russo agrees.

This past week Dave Meltzer tweeted that a Japanese wrestler from decades ago was on such a high level in terms of popularity, that you can’t even compare someone like Muhammad Ali to him. Russo hadn’t even heard of this Japanese wrestler before, so he thinks it’s silly that Meltzer claims this guy is more of a pop culture icon than someone like Ali.

Secondly, Russo has no idea where Meltzer is even getting the footage of this wrestler because this guy wrestled in the 1940’s, and Russo points out that broadcasting was very limited back then. Russo suggests that Meltzer might have only ‘heard’ about this performer’s greatness, and now he’s playing it off as if he knows everything about this competitor’s popularity.
