Triple H “Nutritionist” Talks Steroids & Human Growth Hormone Being Allowed Under WWE’s Wellness Policy
One of those closest to Triple H may have let something slip that he shouldn’t have. There’s little doubt that WWE’s Wellness Policy doesn’t catch everything; I mean, one only has to look at certain people on the roster to guess that something isn’t quite kosher.
In an recent interview (which you can see below), Dave Palumbo, Triple H’s “nutritionist”, a retired bodybuilder who served jail time for distributing fake human growth hormone (HGH), made the claim that WWE wrestlers are allowed to take HGH and testosterone/hormone replacement (steroids) under the company’s Wellness Policy.
“Very disciplined. Eating, supplementation, he’s very meticulous. Joe DeFranco trains him every night, goes to his house. First of all, wrestlers can’t take drugs, beyond hormone replacements, they get drug tested. It’s a very, very strict drug testing policy there. The good thing about wrestling, because it’s not a professional sport per say, it’s more entertainment, they’re allowed to take hormone replacement…They can get testosterone replacement, 100mg…they can get HGH if they want, those are acceptable, and a lot of the wrestlers do do it.”
A little personal note here. This shouldn’t surprise anyone. It’s come to light in recent years that part timers aren’t subject to Wellness Policy testing; that was made pretty apparent after Brock Lesnar failed his drug tests before competing in UFC 200. Add in all of the “noise” surrounding Jinder Mahal’s “transformation”, and it’s pretty obvious that things are not as strict as WWE would like for us to believe.
It will be interesting to see if Palumbo keeps his job after this.
WWE did contact us this afternoon with the following statement on the Wellness Policy:
“WWE’s comprehensive Talent Wellness Policy, which is administered by an independent, third-party, clearly states hGH and hCG are among a long list of banned substances, however, due to certain medical conditions, there are a variety of therapeutic exemptions that account for approximately 7% of our contracted talent.”
