That’s A Long Time: Brock Lesnar Breaks 19 Year Old WWE Championship Record
The new record. The WWE Title has been around for nearly sixty years and a who’s who of wrestlers have held it. There are all kinds of special moments in the title’s history and it remains one of the most important prizes in all of wrestling. The title’s history includes quite a bit of history, and now someone has done something that has never been done with the championship before.
Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship at Day One after being added to the match due to Roman Reigns having to pull out of his match with Lesnar. The win marked Lesnar’s sixth WWE Championship reign, but also set a record for the longest time between first and most recent WWE Championship wins. Lesnar first won the title in September 2002, over nineteen years before his latest win. This broke Hulk Hogan’s record of eighteen years and three months, ranging from January 1984 until April 2002.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that I could read about every day, as you never know what kind of new record or new standard is being set at any given time. Lesnar could hold the title for a good while, and there is no reason to believe he won’t win it again at some pint in the future. Record books are rewritten every day, and this is another entry that took a longtime to fall.
