During the pre-show, the New Japan Rumble took place with Masahito Kakihara winning the Rumble, last eliminating CHEESEBURGER. Featured in the Rumble were such names as Jushin Liger, Delirious, YOSHI-HASHI, BUSHI, Yujiro Takahashi, Tiger Mask IV, El Desperado, Yoshinobu Kanemuru, Katsuya Kitamura, Satoshi Kojima, Henare, Chase Owens, Hiroyoshi Tenzao and Gino Gambino.

Kakihara cut a promo after, giving support to his friend, NOAH legend Yoshihiro Takayama, who was seriously injured last year and is still away from wrestling.

Opening video showcases the card for tonight.

We go to the opening match.

IWGP Jr. Tag Team Titles: Roppongi 3K (SHO and YOH) (c’s) w/Rocky Romero vs. The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)

Bucks make fun of Roppongi 3K early, calling them “young boys.” Yoh locks Matt in a Sharpshooter early, but he quickly gets to the ropes. Matt and Yoh then put the other team’s partner in Sharpshooters until they exchange strikes. Roppongi 3K take down the Bucks with stereo dropkicks, then begin double teaming Nick, including hitting the old Rocky Romero Battering Knees double-team. Roppongi 3K then wipe out the Bucks outside with stereo flip dives. Yoh hurt his back, however, on the dive, clutching at it when getting back in. This allows the Bucks to take over, with Nick hitting a Deadlift Apron German to Yoh. The Bucks then lay out Romero on the ramp, hitting a running powerbomb. Matt then with an Apron Powerbomb to Yoh and Nick gets a close 2. Bucks begin taking control, working over Yoh’s back. Yoh avoids Matt, who takes a splat outside. Nick continues to work over Yoh. Matt brings Yoh to the rampway and goes for another powerbomb, but Yoh blocks it and backdrops Matt on the rampway. Nick goes for a dive, but Yoh moves and Nick takes out his brother. Sho finally tags in and begins making a comeback. Nick comes back with a spinning back elbow. Matt now in, but Sho hits him with Rolling Germans. Nick comes in, but Sho Germans both Bucks at the same time! Dominator/Cutter Combo by Roppongi 3K for 2. Matt stops the 3K on Nick, but Roppongi 3K hit Stereo Jumping Knees. Everyone begins hitting superkicks on one another, then Nick counters the 3K with a Tornado DDT on Yoh, but then Sho turns Nick inside out with a Lariat! Matt and Yoh in and both take shots to each other’s injured backs. Bucks hit the Buckle Bomb/Enziguri Combo on Yoh, followed by the Assisted Swanton to the injured back for a close 2. Matt locks Yoh in the Sharpshooter, then Nick takes out Sho outside with an Apron Moonsault! Yoh is able to crawl and reach the ropes. Bucks go for More Bang for Your Buck, but Yoh counters it with a roll-up for a close 2. Yoh with a Half Crab on Matt, but Nick breaks it up. Sho then takes down Nick in his own Half Crab. Nick stops Matt from tapping, then kicks Sho into Yoh to break up the submission. Nick and Sho then begin trading kicks to their opponent’s injured backs. Nick with a superkick, then wipes Sho out outside with a Cancun Tornado! Matt and Yoh trade shots until Matt with a superkick. Bucks hit the Meltzer Driver on Yoh, then Nick with a Sharpshooter on Yoh, who has no choice but to tap.

Winners and NEW IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champions: The Young Bucks by submission (Sharpshooter)

While appearing on Colt Cabana’s The Art of Wrestling Podcast, Nick Jaskson of The Young Bucks discussed The Bullet Club invading RAW and revealed that they were actually planning it for months before it took place.

“We had this planned months and months and months ago and we built the story on Being The Elite for months. And we knew that they would be there that day. We planned it all. … We have storylines planned for the next six to eight months that [Cabana] already know[s] about. We think of these things ahead of time, more than most major wrestling companies, which is crazy.”

While speaking to Chuck Carroll of CBS Sports, Ring of Honor COO Joe Koff discussed the recent cease and desist situation between The Young Bucks and WWE.

“To be really honest with you, that was between them and WWE. I think they handled it perfectly. If they were to ask me my advice, I would probably have advised them to do it the way they did it. This is beyond Ring of Honor. It’s nothing that happened under our watch. We didn’t have anything to do with it. They acted very responsibly. They are very, very good businessmen. Not only are they gifted performers, they are very good businessmen, and they’re smart about how they do business. I think in their minds — I don’t speak for them — it probably wasn’t worth a war.”

It was reported earlier this week that Roman Reigns mentioned that people don’t need to be running around trying to be DX or nWo, basically a direct shot at The Young Bucks.

“No offense to any of these guys, but we don’t need guys running around doing ‘too sweets.’ We don’t need guys acting like they’re DX from 20 years ago. We need original characters, guys who are [themselves].”

A fan tweet the quote to Reigns on Twitter, along with WWE’s celebration of DX with wrestlers doing DX poses and Reigns responded. You can check out the exchange below:

Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the day after the Young Bucks got their cease and desist letter from WWE, representatives from 2K Games asked them to work on doing motion captures for next year’s WWE 2K19 video game.

Apparently so many people in last year’s game were using “Create-A-Wrestler” mode to play as The Bucks and the company felt they needed them to do the work so that they could get all of their signature moves in the next game.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Young Bucks are going to stop using “Suck It” in their marketing, even though WWE didn’t asked them to do so.

As previously noted, The Young Bucks put out a “Cease and Desist” T-shirt just days after they received a letter from WWE that displayed them doing the hand gesture with censored being written over it, and then on the bottom saying “TOO SW#%T!”

When the shirts went on sale on September 29th, they did the most first day sales of any t-shirt they had ever released. The shirt also did the highest sales for September, even with only two days left in the month when the shirt came out.

As previously reported, WWE has had enough with The Young Bucks ripping off the “Too Sweet” hand gesture that they own the trademark to and sent the tag team a cease and desist letter. Additionally, WWE wants them to sign a document saying that they will no longer use the hang gesture moving forward.

Well, this didn’t go over very well with The Young Bucks. As we mentioned yesterday on the site, they took to Twitter and expressed their frustrations over the whole ordeal and now it looks like they aren’t letting off the topic.

The Young Bucks have now decided to mock WWE’s attempt to stop them from using the hand gesture and are now selling t-shirts that read: “Cease and Desist TOO SW#%T!”

You can see the shirt below and link to purchase it:

WWE Issues Cease & Desist To Young Bucks

Nope, this isn’t an episode of Being The Elite. It looks like WWE has actually sent out a cease and desist letter to Matt and Nick Jackson over the “Too Sweet” hand gesture. Apparently, WWE sent the team a letter, stating they own the copyright and trademark to the hand gesture (which The Bucks and Bullet Club use and have put on clothing and other what-nots), and they want their usage of it to stop ASAP.

WWE is demanding that The Bucks stop using their intellectual property on any merchandise and in the ring or in any promotion immediately. If they fail to comply, WWE could sue them for $150 in damages or even more. WWE also wants an agreement in writing that they will not use WWE IP in the future.

But, there’s a glitch in WWE’s master plan. They applied for the trademark for the hand gesture back in March of 2015, but then abandoned it. As of right now, as you can see in the photo below, the application/WWE claim on the gesture is “DEAD”, and it’s open season on the “Too Sweet” hand gesture and anyone can apply to trademark it.

Photo: Trademarkia

This may just be a scare tactic on WWE’s part, and hopefully The Young Bucks, who are savvy businessmen, know the score and don’t kowtow to the big bad wolf.

New Starrcade Match Announced

Yet another match has been added to the upcoming Starrcade event WWE will be holding in Greensboro in November. After some back and forth on Twitter yesterday, it looks like the legendary Rock ‘N’ Roll Express will take on the team of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

It’s being reported now that the match is officially on. Let’s hope that the next announcement is that the event will be aired on WWE Network.
