Reason Why Tom Phillips Was Replaced on 205 Live

As seen on this week’s episode of 205 Live, former House of Hardcore announcer Vic Joseph made his debut at the broadcasting booth for the brand. He will be replacing Tom Phillips moving forward.

The reason Vic replaced Tom on 205 Live is because the company wants Tom to focus on other duties in the company and he has a lot on his plate with being the lead announcer for SmackDown Live. With Vic is on the rise within the company, the belief is that he is the perfect replacement. Since arriving in the company, Vic has worked on WWE Main Event and NXT in a short time. The company is very high on his work and that’s why Vic has been chosen as Tom’s replacement.

Tom posted the following on Twitter regarding Vic’s new role on weekly WWE television:

Speculation on John Cena’s Schedule After He Returns

As previously noted, John Cena will be making his return to weekly WWE programming on the July 4th episode of SmackDown Live and will be billed as a “free agent” moving forward. Dave Meltzer discussed Cena’s return on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and speculated what his schedule could be like when he returns to the company.

While none of this is confirmed, Meltzer presented a scenario that could see Cena work only RAW and SmackDown televised events on Monday’s and Tuesday. He would not work WWE Live Events later in the week. This scenario would leave Cena plenty of time to fulfill his non-WWE commitments and Cena would still have a strong presence on WWE programming. Cena would of course work both pay-per-view events for the RAW and SmackDown Live brands each month. So basically, he would work Sunday-Tuesday and have Wednesday through Saturday off.

Reason Why Finn Balor Hasn’t Been Using The Demon Character

While speaking to news.com.au, Finn Balor was asked about why his Demon Character hasn’t been being used on WWE programming lately. He responded with the following remarks:

“The Demon character is something I draw on occasion. It’s something that requires a lot of focus to tap into and really requires the right situation for me to sort of draw on that darker side of my personality. Since I’ve been back on Raw, the opportunity hasn’t really presented itself to tap into that side and I’ve had such a good time being back I haven’t wanted to change. I quite like walking out in my sweet new Balor club jacket. popping my collar and being Mr Cool.”

Money in the Bank Event Not Sold Out

Sunday’s WWE Money in the Bank event has not sold out yet.

Ticket IQ claims that there are still hundreds of seats available for the event via TicketMaster with rices ranging from $50 to $1005. The average sale price is $155 with cheapest seats starting at $47 on the secondary market.

At this time, prices are very similar to the last pay-per-view event held at Scottrade Center, during the same time frame; 2015’s Battleground featured an average resale price of $157 with cheapest seats costing $53.

WWE has been having a downward trend at events recently. It’s being said that the trend has to do with the ticket price increase for their shows.

WWE Planning “Something Significant” for the UK Brand

Jim Ross briefly mentioned plans for the upcoming UK show for the WWE Network on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio. While Ross didn’t reveal many details, he did mention that there are plans to do “something significant” for the brand. Ross said that talks are still on-going and the belief is he is just waiting to find out himself.

Rusev Cleared to Return to Action

Rusev has been medically cleared to return to action.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Rusev met with doctors yesterday and was given the go-ahead to return to in-ring competition. Rusev had surgery back in March to repair an undisclosed shoulder injury.

WWE teased Rusev’s return on SmackDown Live last month to confront Shane McMahon for not putting him in the Money in the Bank main event. Those plans ultimately got nixed. It is very possible that Rusev not being cleared at the time could be the reason for those plans following through.
