WWE Hall of Fame 2017 Update: Who will induct DDP ?

#WWE announced today that #EricBischoff will be the one to induct #DiamondDallasPage into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 33 weekend.

Eric Bischoff to induct Diamond Dallas Page into the WWE Hall of Fame
Former Raw General Manager and WCW figurehead Eric Bischoff will induct his close friend, Diamond Dallas Page, into the WWE Hall of Fame on Friday, March 31, live on WWE Network.

“I’m honored,” Bischoff told WWE.com in an exclusive interview. “It puts a smile on my face because I know how much it means to him. This is the Holy Grail for him.”

* Page and Bischoff’s relationship dates to the late ’80s, when the two started out as part of WWE Hall of Famer Verne Gagne’s AWA – Bischoff as an announcer and DDP as the outlandish manager of Badd Company. The two eventually headed toward WCW, where Bischoff had an up-close view of DDP’s ascent from wrestling obscurity to superstardom as a champion of the people in WCW’s fight against the nWo.

“So many [wrestlers] are larger than life,” Bischoff said. “They look like they walked right off a movie screen and stepped into the arena. Diamond Dallas Page didn’t have that larger-than-life persona, but he had a different connection with the audience.”

“When [Page] finally hit pay dirt is when he finally shed all the over-the top-stuff,” he continued. “The bling and girls and cigars … [He] just became a real person, coming down from the crowd. That said, ‘I’m one of you.'”

* As Bischoff quickly learned, the persona Page projected in the ring worked because it was real.

“His journey [in life] is similar to his journey in the ring,” he said. “DDP was the common guy, the everyman, a blue-collar guy from New Jersey. He represented something that the average person could believe in, in a way that was a little unique. [People thought] ‘That could be me. If I could just get that break, work a little harder, I could be that guy.’ That’s a very inspirational quality to have.”

* Bischoff is incredibly excited to present DDP to the WWE Universe as a member of the Hall’s Class of 2017, though he admits a few nerves are bubbling up.

“It’s a little overwhelming, in some respects,” he said. “But I’ll save the reasons why for the ceremony itself, because they’re very personal and poignant.”

WWE announced the following:

JBL & Ron Simmons to induct Teddy Long into the WWE Hall of Fame

JBL and Ron Simmons will have the privilege of inducting their longtime friend and frequent travel companion, Teddy Long, into the WWE Hall of Fame.

“It’s an incredible honor,” JBL told WWE.com. “I’ve always thought that inducting someone into the WWE Hall of Fame is one of the greatest privileges you can get because it’s the honor of a lifetime for the person going in.”

JBL and Simmons’ close relationship with Long makes it all the more special. The brawlers known as The APA traveled the roads with Long and 2016 inductee, The Godfather.

“We rode thousands and thousands of miles together for years – me, Ron, Teddy and Godfather in one car,” JBL explained. “It’s real special. Ron’s in the Hall of Fame, Godfather’s in the Hall of Fame, and now Teddy is, too.

“I’m the only one left,” he joked.

Their friendship aside, JBL believes Long is one of the worthiest recipients of sports-entertainment’s ultimate honor.

“Teddy Long is a groundbreaker,” the former World Champion said. “He worked his way up from the ring crew to become the manager of one of the greatest tag teams of all time in Doom. He was a referee and became one of the most colorful general managers ever. Teddy Long has done it all. If there’s anybody deserving of going into the WWE Hall of Fame, it’s him.”

WWE News and Rumors: AJ Styles and Roman Reigns switching brands ?

In the latest news it has been speculated that WWE is in all the mood to freshen up both their brands, RAW and Smackdown Live. respectively. According to PWInsider, A.J. Styles and Roman Reigns are two of the names being discussed to switch brands soon.

This could be a logical step after Daniel Bryan fired AJ Styles from Smackdown Live this past week.

If this happens it could be a great addition to RAW brand as the flagship show is no more the A brand on WWE television. AJ Styles feuding with the likes of Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and even Samoa Joe will be a treat for the universe.

On the other hand Roman Reigns being drafted to SD Live looks a little dicey.

WWE News and Rumors: American Alpha vs The Usos at Wrestlemania 33 Kickoff

After the big match between The Big Show and Shaquille O’Neal looks down in the drain, the hopes of having a smackdown live tag team match at Wrestlemania 33 looks on the card. Unfortunately though for Smackdown live the match looks to be restricted to the pre-show and not the main card.
The tag team division has been considered as one of the weakest factors on both RAW and SD Live, although SD Live tag team division in still in a much better condition but a match on the main card still looks a distant dream for them.

On the other hand, RAW tag team division although being irrelevant will still get the main card match as per the latest reports.
Coming back to SD Live the team’s most favorable to compete at Wrestlemania are the teams of American Alpha and The Usos.

NXT, the brand that has produced some gem of talents in the near past has always provided great talent for the main roster.

All the way from Finn Balor to Kevin Owens and now Samoa Joe, NO NXT talent has disappointed the fans when it comes wrestling.

Rumors say that WWE is planning to bring in more talent from NXT to the main roster after Wrestlemania 33. Shinsuke Nakamura and Elias Samson have been the names mentioned most.

Roman Reigns not turning heel till Wrestlemania 33

Roman Reigns who will face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33 has a big baggage on his back as he not only has to silent his critics but carry a match which is not welcomed by many fans.
The Undertaker undoubtedly had better opponents in his lustrous career and many see this match as something degrading for the phenom.

Worst part is that this match can be seen as The Undertaker’s last match and Roman Reigns claiming that he is going to be the man to retire The Undertaker has raised eyebrows.

Sources around the world have claimed that Roman Reigns in this feud will be the bad guy and finally turn heel. But as per the latest news Vince Mcmahon has no plans whatsoever to turn THE GUY into a BAD GUY.
If this is true then things are not getting anywhere in favor of Reigns as the crowd has never welcomed him as the face of the company.

WWE News and Rumors: Daniel Bryan teases return next year

It’s been more than two years since Daniel Bryan retired from in-ring action. Although Daniel Bryan is still connected to the ropes on Smackdown Live but it is nothing that is even close to satisfy what actually Bryan is capable of doing & what we can call his YARD.
On Talking Smack episode right after 205 Live this week, as usual the talk didn’t go too well between Bryan & The Miz.

During the GM and the self-proclaimed A-lister’s squabble, Bryan dropped a bombshell of a hint.

The Miz mocked him for not competing anymore. “You want to be a wrestler, but you can’t because of your head. That’s okay.” he said.

“I can’t or they won’t let me? We’ll see in a year and a half and see what happens,” Bryan fired back.

This is a big hint that Bryan, after his WWE contract expires can possibly return to in-ring action if not in WWE than in independent circuits.
This wrestling world was set on abuzz after this. This has been a topic of concern for many wrestling fans if or not Bryan will return for one more run inside the ring as a competitor.
Alex Pawlowski of Fightful even started a countdown clock.

Miz believes that Bryan still has it in him since the WWE draft last year. Bryan has bickered with the heel on many occasions, their issues bleeding into both SmackDown and Talking Smack.

EDITOR’S VIEW

Whether or not Bryan returns to in-ring action, one thing is for sure that Talking Smack has become one of the must watch WWE network programmes. You never know how entertaining this one hour right after 205 live can be. We all saw what happened between Shane & AJ Styles.

Also you never know when the urgency of Miz’s voice galvanize Bryan into action.

WWE NEWS: “Outlaw” Ron Bass passes away

Former WWE and NWA star “Outlaw” Ron Bass (Ronald Heard) passed away today in Tampa, reportedly due to complications from surgery. He was 68 years old.

Bass had been hospitalized after suffering a burst appendix but reportedly waited a week before seeking medical attention as he was not aware of the bust, (PWInsider).

WWE Smackdown Live March 7, 2017: Was this the WEAKEST SD Live show ?

This week’s smackdown live from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana promised us a great show as we are just 4 weeks away from Wrestlemania.
The show had its own high with Randy Orton cementing his place at Wrestlemania main event but the lows were too much for the first time on this show.

THE OPENING SEGMENT

If you have been in touch with the show there is no reason why you will watch the first segment of this show. All the time we were reminded of the main event for tonight.

We all love to see Bryan though.

CRINGEY ELLSWORTH

Ellsworth time is UP, ‘no pun intended’ may be Road Dogg has not understood this yet. Nobody would like to see Ellsworth on their TV be it for comedy. The match between Cena/Nikki & James/Carmella was nothing to cherish about.

“BELLA TV” BASED STORYLINE

As much as people are intrigued by the rivalry between these two couples Miz/Maryse & Cena/Nikki because of Miz’s mic killing it every time. But if you are building this up on a scripted TV reality show, it takes away the lustre from it & that’s what it did this week. A small reference here & there is OK but totally pouring it all over the rivalry is a little too much.

WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH TAG TEAMS

The only thing we can say hear is WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH TAG TEAMS, PERIOD.

UNDERWHELMING MAIN EVENT

As much as the main event was hyped as THE GREATEST MAIN EVENT IN SMACKDOWN’S LIVE history, it somewhat underperformed or we can say it was ‘hyped’ a bit too much. AJ Styles has delivered better matches with other wrestlers on SD Live than he did with Randy Orton. Keeping in mind that this was not a bad match at all, it was slow methodical match especially the moment where AJ Styles avoided an RKO by Randy Orton but over exaggeration by JBL & others caused it not to live up to the potential.

FINAL TAKE

A weak show just 4 weeks away from Wrestlemania is unacceptable but we should still be passive with SD Live creative team especially Road Dogg. People are behind Smackdown as the ‘A’ show & it truly is. SD is still more consistent & more appealing to the audience.

WWE Hall of Fame Update: ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude is in the HOF class of 2017

Rick Rude better known by his ring name “Ravishing” Rick Rude, was announced to be inducted in WWE Hall of Fame class of 2017 on March 3, 2017 episode of Monday Night RAW. Rick Rude performed for many promotions, including World Championship Wrestling (WCW), World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).

Rude wrestled from 1982 until his 1994 retirement due to injury, with a final match following in 1997. Among other accolades, he was a four-time world champion (three-time WCW International World Heavyweight Champion and one-time WCWA World Heavyweight Champion), a one-time WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, and a one-time WCW United States Heavyweight Champion. Rude also challenged for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on pay-per-view.

Rude was the co-founder of D Generation X stable along with Triple H, Shawn Michaels & Chyna.
On November 17 of that year, he became the only person to appear on the WWF’s Raw Is War and WCW’s Monday Nitro on the same night, as the former was pre-recorded and Rude had left for WCW in the interim.
Rude will be inducted by one of his greatest rivals, 2009 inductee Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.
