WWE 2K18’s roster keeps growing with the next 42 playable characters in the upcoming video game. During the latest presentation hosted by Corey Graves and Renee Young, with special guest Kevin Owens, the latest RAW, SmackDown Live, NXT, and legends in the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch games were announced. In addition to the roster announcement, the entrance videos for former NXT Tag Team Champions Authors of Pain and former Universal Champion Finn Bálor were revealed.

The latest names join the more than 45 superstars revealed last week. Just like last week, Corey Graves and Renee Young hosted another “roster reveal” segment and had Samoa Joe as a special guest.

The entrance videos for NXT’s Ember Moon, RAW’s The Miz and Maryse, and new SmackDown Live superstar Bobby Roode were also published today. Roode does wear the new NXT Championship, which received a revamped look a few months ago.

WWE and 2K announced the next 46 playable superstars for the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game. Along with cover star Seth Rollins, Kurt Angle, John Cena, Batista, and Rob Van Dam, the new 46 superstars range from legends, current main roster superstars, and names within NXT. To further promote the latest WWE 2K18 announcements, Renee Young and Corey Graves hosted a special presentation for IGN, which included special guest Goldust.

The entrances for NXT’s SAnitY and RAW’s Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were also revealed.

The brains creating WWE 2K18 rhave evealed some of the new features in the upcoming video game. The game’s developers confirmed the Creation Suite, which includes Create-a-Superstar, Create-an-Arena and Create-a-Video, will have improvements as 2K18 focuses on the tagline “Be Like No One.” Create-a-Match will debut in 2K18, allowing players to create customized rules for a match for either WWE Universe mode or Play Now.

Gamers will have greater control of the Highlight Replay System with free-roaming camera and editing controls. According to Mark Little, WWE 2K18 executive producer for visual concepts, this will give players the opportunity to save game replays should they choose to display them in future videos.

A new MyPLAYER mechanism allows players to select from eight fighting styles, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. To further improve MyPLAYER, there will be new MyCAREER experience with the aim to give the gamer’s MyPLAYER better interactions with WWE Superstars and general managers. The new Road to Glory Mode allows MyPLAYER characters compete with other gamers, but this improved feature will be detailed in the coming months.

The WWE 2K18 developers want the most realistic game to date in the franchise. With realism in mind, developers have been working on new graphics and even a new commentary team. In a developer’s blog post, Little wrote:

“Along with the great visuals, WWE 2K18 introduces a new commentary team. With the trio of Michael Cole, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves at the commentary table, a WWE 2K game has never sounded better. We also greatly improved crowd sounds, including the addition of authentic crowd chants, to bring the entire WWE experience to life. In short, WWE 2K18 has never been closer to what our fans see every week on WWE television and at live events.”

Enhancements have been made in ladder matches, eight-person matches, eight-person tags, and the Royal Rumble. For the Royal Rumble gameplay, developers worked on elimination mechanics, guaranteeing a quick elimination system and sequences and match-specific finishers.

Little announced WWE 2K18 will have its largest roster in WWE gaming history. The game, featuring Seth Rollins on the cover, will be available on October 17.

Kurt Angle Featured In WWE 2K18

Kurt Angle revealed that he will be an exclusive character in the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game. Players will be able to access the Angle character if they pre-order the game. This is what they did last year with the Goldberg character. However, they eventually did unlock Goldberg to anyone who was willing to pay for him via the online store. It’s likely the same will be done with the Angle character.

Monday morning, WWE Superstar Seth Rollins appeared on ESPN SportsCenter to announce he would be on the cover for the upcoming WWE 2K18 video game.

“It was an honor for me,” Rollins told ESPN of discovering he would be the cover athlete. “You look at some of the previous names who have graced the cover of WWE video games over the years and to be amongst those is truly an honor and I’m humbled by it.”

Seth Rollins’ debuted in 2012 and was first included as a character in the “WWE 2K14” video game.

“That was very surreal to be in the WWE video game,” Rollins said. “Growing up I played WWE Smackdown vs. Raw and all the WWE video games, and I had to do my best to create what I would look like as a grown adult. So to be in the game as a playable character and the way graphics are nowadays, the likeness is almost uncanny. It was very surreal to see myself in the video game and being on the cover this year is going to be even crazier.”

The official release date was revealed when the “Be Like No One” trailer hit the interview shortly after Rollins’ announcement.  The game will be available on October 17.

There are three different versions of the game which will be available for pre-order: Standard, Deluxe and Collector’s Edition. While no information has been released on the pre-order details, it is known those who pre-order the Deluxe and Collector’s Editions will get the game four days early (October 13).
