Eric Bischoff: Women’s Money In The Bank Re-Match Is A Bad Idea

After the controversial ending to the women’s Money in The Bank Ladder Match, Daniel Bryan announced on this week’s episode of SmackDown LIVE that there will be a rematch on next week’s episode of SmackDown LIVE. James Ellsworth will be banned from the ringside in the match.

Eric Bischoff expressed his displeasure over the decision on his podcast, “Bischoff on Wrestling”. Here’s what Bischoff said:

“I think it’s a bad move. It’s a mistake I’ve made in the past. Sometimes you learn from your mistakes. At least, sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. When you build up to a big event on PPV and you build up the stakes and you build up the expectation and you basically deliver a screwed finish and then re-match it on free TV. It diminishes the long-term expectation of future big event matches on pay-per-view when that happens. I think it’s a really bad idea. By the way, I’ve done it and the results were always negative”

Shelton Benjamin Not Returning to WWE?

It was reported earlier this week via Pro Wrestling Sheet that WWE and Shelton Benjamin are in talks about a possible return to the company, however that may not be the case.

Shelton Benjamin addressed rumors about his return to WWE in a new video message. He mentioned that he has an upcoming commitment on June 30th for Great North Wrestling. He brought up how everywhere he looks, people are speculating on where his career is heading. He then proceeded to cut a promo on his opponent Amanuel Hassan without any indication or hints that he would be returning to WWE.

You can check out his video message below:

It is still very possible that the two parties are in talks about a return. If that is the case they are just trying to keep it a secret. We will keep you updated if we hear anything else regarding the situation.

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Balor’s Promos Need Work, Meltzer Disrespects Al Snow, When Will Corbin Cash in? More!

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.

Speaking about the new Elias Samson/Finn Balor feud, Bruce Mitchell from PWTorch recently said that Samson needs programs like this, because he can learn from Balor and Balor can carry him in the ring. Russo says if we look at it from a promo perspective, he hasn’t seen Balor cut a good one yet, and Samson has been cutting great promos ever since he arrived on the main roster.

From a promo perspective Samson can ‘eat Balor alive’, but all these ‘journalists’ just look at things based on the in-ring product. Russo still wonders where Balor’s ‘Demon’ character is, and if the ‘Demon’ isn’t going to be a regular part of Balor’s presentation, Balor is going to have to show us more on the mic.

Russo also comments on the notion that perhaps Finn Balor doesn’t want to cover his face with paint every night because he’s a mark for himself and he wants to build his own brand. Russo says that this can happen when talents start to buy into their own hype from the niche audience. Today’s Superstars will never get over like Hulk Hogan or Steve Austin, because they don’t even understand what it takes to be a star in the wrestling business.

Former ROH Wrestler Spotted at Full Sail University

Former Ring of Honor wrestler Bobby Fish has been spotted at Full Sail University, which NXT tapings.

According to our correspondent at the event sent word that he was seen speaking to producer Ryan Katz. While it’s not confirmed, it is very possible that he could make his debut at tonight’s tapings. As of this writing it is unknown if he signed a deal with the company. It’s worth noting that The Wrestling Observer reported back in March that he didn’t want to sign a full-time deal with ROH because it may tamper with his chances of getting hired on by WWE.

We will keep you posted if we find anything out.

Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar Moved to SummerSlam?

There is speculation that the Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar match that was previously scheduled to take place at WrestleMania 34 could be taking place at SummerSlam this year instead.

This move is being taken to increase the presence of the Universal Title on weekly RAW shows in order to increase the poor TV ratings. The speculation holds a lot of relevance since Reigns announced that he was next in line to challenge Lesnar for the title on this week’s Monday Night RAW episode.

Additionally, Dave Meltzer mentioned in a recent installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that plans may have changed because Braun Strowman returned from injury much earlier than expected. With his early return, some planned matches have been switched around.

Jeff Jarrett Says Impact Owns The Broken Universe

While speaking to White:List, Jeff Jarrett made the following remarks when asked about the on-going legal battle between The Hardy Boyz and Impact Wrestling over the ownership of the Broken Gimmick:

“I always take the high road because there is legal squabbles or potential legal squabbles but I have said this to a couple of outlets, and I say this with very broad strokes – I am from Nashville so I am around music which is intellectual property and I have been in the business 30 years. Intellectual property laws are very simple, there are two sides to it; there are publishers and the writers, then there are the performers as well.”

“Jeff Hardy has been one of my best friends for 20 years, you can look on my social media and their social media, and we take family vacations together but business is business,” Jarrett continued. “So when it relates to IP it’s real simple, there is a publisher who owns the property, there is a writer who gets credit and can monetize it, then there is the performers. There is no question that Broken Matt and Brother Nero’s performances were off the charts good. But when it comes to ownership to me it’s almost a silly squabble, it’s never been in question. Impact are the owners.”

Rumors on Why WWE Is Splitting Up The Miz & Maryse

There’s a rumor going around on various sites that claim WWE has decided to split The Miz and Maryse up on RAW because they don’t want two power couples in the company. These reports stem from recent comments made by Dave Meltzer’s on Wrestling Observer Radio, where he speculates what he believes is the reason behind the split between The Miz & Maryse.

“The end result is that they’re doing Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas as Miz’s new entourage and they’re dumping Maryse, I guess with the idea that because they’ve got Maria and Mike Bennett on the other brand, they don’t want another husband and wife team or something?” Meltzer said.

When asked if Maryse was done for now, Meltzer replied, “it looks like it.”

It’s pretty obvious by listening to Meltzer’s remarks that what he said is simply speculation only and not fact. He was saying that he believes that it could be a reason, and didn’t specify directly that it is.

Dinner with the King Recap – Great Balls of Fire Insight, Advice for Wannabe Wrestlers, Who Had the Best ‘Puppies’ in WWE? More!

Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore.

Lawler informs that he appeared at the Comicon in Washington, DC this past weekend. He says that he had a great time there and he was able to see a lot of old friends. WWE Superstars Charlotte Flair and Nakamura even made an appearance on Saturday.

A listener writes into the show and asks Lawler which current WWE Superstar would fit well in Memphis Wrestling back in the day. Lawler says that he worked as the top babyface in Memphis for a long time, so their goal was always to find big, strong heels to work against him. Guys like Kamala and Bam Bam Bigelow fit that mould.

In that sense, there are a number of guys in WWE today that would work out well in Memphis. Lawler says that they would have made a lot of money with someone like Brock Lesnar in Memphis back in the day. They could also do wonders with talents such as Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt and of course Braun Strowman.
