Two-time TNA Women’s Knockout Champion Velvet Sky has reportedly retired from professional wrestling. Velvet Sky, real name Jamie Szantyr, decided to return and finish her college education.

In an interview with WNPR, Szantyr returned to Post University in Westbury, Connecticut. She explained her decision:

“Wrestling has a shelf life. College doesn’t. You can be 50 years old and go to college for your degree. You can’t be 50 years old and train to be a pro wrestler.”

But she’s not putting wrestling completely behind her. She plans to be a personal trainer and work for a Danbury wrestling school.

In her 15-year wrestling career, Velvet Sky may be best known for her Beautiful People stable with Angelina Love and Madison Rayne on Impact Wrestling. She won her first TNA Knockout Championship in October 2011 pinning Mickie James in a Fatal Four-Way Match along with Rayne and Winter. Her second title reign came in early 2013 in a Four-Way Elimination Match against Brooke Tessmacher, Gail Kim, and Tara. With The Beautiful People, Sky also won the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship. She left the company last year after putting her job on the line and losing to Sienna. On April 23, 2016, Impact Wrestling announced there was a mutual decision with Sky to not renew her agreement.
