During the mailbag segment of today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked about WWE broadcasting NXT next Wednesday on The USA Network and if there was a possibility that this would open the doors to replace the third hour of RAW with NXT matches.

Meltzer said that WWE would not be replacing the third hour of RAW with NXT, however he indicated there is always the chance that NXT could be a third WWE show on Wednesday nights.

Right now, next Wednesday’s airing is a “one-shot” deal. If the show does big numbers, WWE probably wouldn’t turn down a big money deal if The USA Network was to offer them one for the show. Meltzer explained that for the longest time the USA Network didn’t even want a second night of WWE television with SmackDown Live. With the USA Network lacking a hit show, the belief is they are okay with having more wrestling on their television network to make up for the lack of ratings.

The rating for next Wednesday’s show is an important one and will influence any decisions USA may have about bringing on a third show to the network. Meltzer explained that the 7PM time slot isn’t exactly the best slot and they would probably perform a higher rating with a 10 PM slot instead. It will be interesting to see how they promote the show, which is expected to be headlined by the Kassius Ohno vs. Johnny Gargano match.

Several cable guides including Comcast, FIOS and DirecTV hare listing that an episode of NXT will broadcast on the USA Network on Wednesday, December 13th at 7PM ET. The USA Network website is also listing the show as well.

While this could be a mistake, it’s also very possible that they could be doing something NXT related during that time period, as it’s the same week WWE takes over the USA Network. The fact that USA is listing it by name is interesting.

It was reported last week that WWE may have put the WWE Championship Title on AJ Styles because the lack of interest in the upcoming Survivor Series event and/or the poor rating for the Halloween edition of SmackDown.

Edge mentioned on Podcast of Awesomeness that it may have actually had to do with the USA Network debuting a new television show directly after SmackDown Live this week. Edge would then reveal that it wouldn’t be the first time WWE has helped out the USA Network, as they have done so in the past with the debut of Shooter.

“I think there’s probably a few factors that go in. I think USA was debuting a new TV series after, and while some of you may scoff and say WWE wouldn’t change their business for that, yes they would. Shooter was debuting, and they stacked the 900th episode of SmackDown. That’s why I was there, that’s why Taker was there. They’ll do those things because they’re on the USA Network, and USA asked for a favor, so they’ll do them a favor.”

Fox has asked Chris Jericho about his view on WWE Decision’s on firing the legendary Hulk Hogan.
Jericho replied: It’s not my company. It’s not my decision, but I think when Miz joined the show as a judge, I think it gave a whole different vibe to the show that really improved it.

Also Fox News Spoke Jericho about the recent death of WWE Hall of Famer Rody Rowdy Piper.

Jericho : There was a certain generation of those guys it was more of a rock star mentality. The road schedule was a lot harder back in those days and those guys lived a lot harder as well so thankfully I think that’s been remedied with guys in this generation, now it’s not the same vibe, it’s a lot more clean living. There’s more Chipotle around than there’s pills at this point in time and that’s a good thing. Kind of that maverick, gypsy lifestyle is gone. You know this is a multi-billion corporation that’s publicly traded and it’s become part of the pop culture fabric around the world, so we have a lot of responsibilities and take it very seriously being a WWE Superstar, and take it very seriously all the influence we have over the fans over the entire world.
