Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Phoenix Marie.

Ryback opens today’s show speaking about his thoughts on former WWE talent, Boogeyman. He says that he and Boogeyman were very close and developed a tremendous friendship from their time beginning together in Tough Enough. He adds that Boogeyman was always in tremendous shape and hasn’t aged a bit even to this day.

Ryback informs that Boogeyman actually lied about his age when he started in the wrestling business because he was 40 at the time, but he claimed to be 30. He looked so good that nobody questioned him. He adds that Boogeyman was a tremendous ‘attraction’ for WWE, and he played that role absolutely perfectly.

Ryback comments on Kalisto being struck in the face with a water bottle after his match on RAW last week. He was very disturbed when viewing this footage, and he felt terrible for Kalisto. He points out that after you finish a match you lie on the mat and you’re relieved because your job is done for the night. The last thing you expect is to get hit in the face by something that was thrown by a fan.

He believes that police have the fan in custody and he believes the fan should spend an extended period of time in jail so he/she can think about how stupid their actions were last Monday night. Ryback believes that fans are entitled to cheering and having fun at WWE events, but the minute they jump the barrier or become involved in the action like this they should be susceptible to severe consequences.

While speaking to ESPN, Sonya Deville talked about her main roster call up and revealed that she found out about it just hours before RAW started.

“As the days unfolded, you hear rumors and you hear things flying around. You don’t wanna believe anything until it’s set in stone, because it’s the entertainment industry at the end of the day and things change,” she explained. “Come Monday, around 3:00, 3:30, I found out what I was doing. I think I’m still in disbelief. I don’t know if it’s really set in yet.”

Deville also talked about how the best parts of her entire journey is being able to share it with Mandy Rose, who started with her back in Tough Enough.

“I think one of the best parts about this entire journey is that me and Mandy got to share it together. We started together about two and a half years ago on Tough Enough, on the reality show where some odd thousand number of people tried out and me and Mandy were just two of those thousands applying for an opportunity to change our lives, never thinking it would come to this… We’ve tagged together in NXT, we fought each other in NXT — it’s just been this crazy rollercoaster ride that I’ve gotten to take with my best friend. It’s the best possible scenario I could ever ask for.”

It was previously reported that Tough Enough winner Josh Bredl was released from his contract with WWE last week.

Dave Meltzer indicated in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that after suffering either a bad concussion or multiple concussions, he was never expected to return to the company. It becomes a legal issue where he was kept under contract to alleviate any potential future legal issues. The company felt that had been for long enough and he was cut, but his being cut was inevitable for a long time.

...

Stone Cold Steve Austin recently did an interview with TV Insider to promote the upcoming fifth season of his show, Broken Skull Challenge on CMT. Here are a few highlights from the interview.

Steve Austin says that Stone Cold gimmick was fun for him but the show will not feature the trash-talking character. The show will feature Steve Austin, who wants to give a fair platform for the athletes.

“Being ‘Stone Cold’ was a lot of fun. That was a guy who was in his element talking a lot of trash…That was the business of pro wrestling. It was entertaining, but I was a pro wrestler. You have to remember it’s been 14 years since I was doing that job.

“These days when I wake up, I am Steve Austin, period…Here, I never want to be a blowhard. I don’t want to trash-talk them, belittle or demean anybody. Our job is to bring these athletes, who are some of the best in the United States, and give them a fair platform. That’s the guy I try to be.”

Austin talks about the challenges that he can perform well in on the show, while also explaining the format of the competition.

“Don’t put me on Heartbreak Hill. I’ll have to put on my leg braces. It would be fun to get down in that trench. Trench Warfare is one of my favorite challenges out here because you go head-to-head with another human being. I’ve seen people slide by each other and turn it into a foot race…if I’m going against you in that trench, I’m going to stomp your ass.

“You have to dig deep here if you want to make it through. I was talking to Vince [Cariati, the show’s executive producer] the other day. We were talking about how our model is we bring eight great athletes here, and your chances of success are really slim because seven are going home and only one gets to take on that Skullbuster. We make it as tough as possible on every one of those people. We give them a fair shot, but we make it tough. That’s the way we want it.”

On which WWE Superstars could stand a chance in the tough competition:

“Cesaro, because of his strength endeavors. He is a workout freak and physical phenomenon,” he said. “I know Seth Rollins is in the CrossFit as well, but I’ll say those two names and stop right there, because it would be a really short list. Now Brock [Lesnar] would do great in The Pit, though. He would do good in the brackets and The Pit. But put him in the Skullbuster—and Brock is a very good friend of mine—but he wouldn’t do great on that because it would chew him up and spit him out.”

For those who have been wondering what ever happened to WWE Tough Enough winner Josh Bredl, Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he is still with the company, although he hasn’t actually wrestled in more than a year.

Back in April of this year, rumors surfaced that Bredl had been released from his contract with WWE, but those rumors were quickly shot down by Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Josh Bredl from Tough Enough has NOT been released. Confirmed with WWE that he's still under contract.

— Ryan Satin (@ryansatin) April 26, 2017

According to Meltzer, Bredl’s absence from a developmental ring is “due to issues related to concussions,” though there’s no word on when exactly those issues began. There is no timetable for his return.
