TNA News: Anthem Sports Drops ”TNA” Name

Anthem Sports & Entertainment, the new owners of TNA Impact Wrestling, have now officially dropped ‘TNA’ from the wrestling promotion‘s name. The newly acquired promotion will now go solely by the name ‘Impact Wrestling’.

Anthem Sports & Entertainment, the group behind the Fight Network, purchased 85% stake in TNA earlier in January 2017. TNA’s future had been up in the air prior to that, with previous owner Dixie Carter and Billy Corgan locked in a legal dispute over money loaned by Corgan to keep the company afloat. Now that Anthem owns the company, they are trying to push the promotion in their own or rather new direction.

Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling (then known as NWA-TNA) started out in 2002 as the brain child of Jerry and Jeff Jarrett. The TNA Impact! brand has always strived to become a rock solid alternative to WWE in the United States, but for a number of reasons it has struggled to dethrone WWE from the mountain top or even be a rock solid number #2 alternative to WWE.

Now that Anthem Sports has decided that the connotations of the ‘TNA’ name are something that they want to move away from, and with them now just looking to use Impact Wrestling as the name of the promotion, this should be a beginning of a new era for the promotion.

Having held their TV tapings in the last couple of weeks, which will air on TV in the upcoming weeks, Anthem will be looking to get this new branding out there as soon as possible.

The infamous commentator & pro wrestling personality “The Louisville Lip” Jim Cornette has claimed that Dixie Carter and Kevin Nash had slept together once. Here’s a quote from Cornette:

I will say that there were aspersions cast around that when she would be seen with certain people in the restaurant, or restaurant bar at the Double Tree after the events and they would be pouring the wine for her to tell her how great she was, but I couldn’t speak as intelligently as Scott Hall when it comes to that, because one of the aspersions that are being cast about that is a “very good friend” of his.

Kevin Nash was at TNA for a year after he debuted along-side Scott Hall in the fall of 2004. When Hall left in 2005, ”Big Kev” Kevin Nash was booked to face ”King of the Mountain” Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at TNA Bound for Glory PPV (2005) but backed out from the event due to chest issues. Shortly after, Nash left TNA and then returned in 2006 and remained with the company till 2011.

There have been reports going around that Dixie Carter had been involved with some of the guys in the TNA Locker Room.

There was also a rumor that Dixie Carter had released Kevin Nash from his contract to go back to WWE because if she didn’t, he was going to tell everyone about their “relationship.”

WWE News: Update on Paige’s WWE Status and When She’s Expected Back

Paige is not expected back inside the squared circle of in time for WrestleMania 33, according to a new report by PWInsider. One source is reporting that Paige won’t be back in action until the summer.

In October 2016, after having neck surgery Paige’s current status is said to be a “touch & go” kind of situation. The feeling is that WWE officials have taken the decision of letting her neck heal before she can start training for her in-ring return at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL.

According to various reports, Paige was backstage at last week’s RAW in Tampa, FL for a brief meeting with WWE officials regarding her health and the update on the healing of her neck injury.

Will Kurt Angle Return At Royal Rumble 2017 ?

With the speculation of Kurt Angle returning to the WWE ring flaming up, it won’t be coming up as a surprise if we see the olympic gold medalist back in the WWE ring for his final run with the company. After retiring from TNA, Kurt Angle always has been willing to return to WWE and with the World Wrestling Entertainment looking to make Royal Rumble into one of the biggest of all times, it looks quite certain that they will try their level best to throw in some big names, to which Kurt Angle fits the bill perfectly. It has also been speculated that WWE is trying to contact other big names for an appearance at Royal Rumble 2017 even if it is for a one-off appearance. Angle recently said during a Facebook Q&A with fans that he wants to fight Brock Lesnar again. Moreover, he also said that he would not fight in the independent wrestling circuits from March next year. Kurt Angle has again and again hinted his return to the place from where he left in 2006 citing health reasons. In a recent interview he said “For me to go back it’d have to be the right match, the right program, and also you have to have interest from Triple H and Vince McMahon. I spoke with them a few months ago, they do have interest. They just don’t know what they want to do, and they don’t know when.”

Kurt Angle has also shown keen interest to face Daniel Bryan but with that being almost next to impossible, Seth Rollins hits the bull’s eye. Seth Rollins is currently been speculated to face Triple H at Wrestlemania 33. With that being said the next guy who looks legit is the anti-american Rusev. Rusev has never found any proper opponent who has pushed him up the list but facing the american hero kurt Angle will uplift his wrestling career. Guess we have to wait till Royal Rumble 2017 which takes place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on 29 January.

TNA Impact ratings steady on Pop TV

Impact wrestling on Pop TV drew 339,000 and another 103,000 viewers in the midnight replay for a total of 442,000 viewers which is almost same as last week’s 443,000 viewers [321,000 + 122,000].
TNA has rebounded greatly since its Jan 8th debut on the channel when it drew 111,000 viewers for its “best of” show.

Sony Six is the official broadcaster of TNA wrestling in India and funded the TNA to promote the show in India to gain bigger television ratings. India born wrestler Mahabali Shera is hand picked by sonjay dutt during the Ring Ka king tournament, TNA had signed Shera for multiple year contract and made him the key player in TNA Wrestling.

Mahabali Shera would be soon completing for the heavyweight championship in upcoming PPV. Its big push for him from TNA Wrestling. Can he beat the Great Khali in wrestling success??????

TNA announced on twitter that referee Earl Hebner is the next inductee in TNA Wrestling‘s Hall Of Fame. He will be inducted at their live event in Salen, Virginia on October 3rd.

Hebner’s TNA Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Saturday, Oct. 3 during The Road to Bound For Glory Tour live event in Salem, Va. Smashing Pumpkins front man and TNA Senior Producer, Billy Corgan, will induct Hebner, with TNA Ring Announcer and Hebner’s dear friend, Jeremy Borash, emceeing.
On Sunday, Oct. 4, during TNA’s biggest night of the year, the Bound For Glory Pay-Per-View event, a special segment will be dedicated to Earl’s TNA Hall of Fame induction and will feature career highlights and portions of his induction ceremony from the previous night.
Hebner will be the sixth inductee into the TNA Hall of Fame, joining Sting, Kurt Angle, Bully Ray, Devon and Jeff Jarrett. His TNA Hall of Fame induction marks the first time a referee of any major professional wrestling organization has become a member of the promotion’s Hall of Fame.
“When I received the call from John Gaburick (TNA’s Executive Vice President of Television and Talent Relations) and he told me I am being inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame, I was stunned and my eyes welled up with tears,” said Hebner. “I’ve been working for 37 years for this incredible honor. It is rare for a referee in any sport to be recognized in this way, and I am proud TNA is recognizing me as the first referee to ever be inducted into a professional wrestling Hall of Fame.”
Hebner fell in love with professional wrestling during his teenage years while working concessions at the Richmond, Va., fairgrounds, where local and regional promotions would run shows every Friday night. He first became involved in professional wrestling by volunteering on the ring crew. Hebner’s foray into refereeing came about by happenstance when a referee fell ill and Earl was asked to fill in on a moment’s notice. Hebner went on to referee for Jim Crockett Promotions, and in the late 80s he made his debut with World Wrestling Federation, when he replaced his twin brother, Dave, mid-match and influenced the outcome of a title bout. Hebner made his TNA debut in 2006 where he has served as Senior Official, managing TNA’s other referees, including son Brian.

TNA Wrestling announces the return of Kurt Angle

TNA has announced that the TNA Hall of Famer Kurt angle will make his return to the company at a live event in Salem, VA on October 3rd. Kurt Angle is also slated to perform for TNA at their biggest pay-per-view Bound For Glory the next day, although no word yet on who he is going to face.
As previously reported, Angle plans on not renewing his deal with TNA after his current contract expires and is looking to take a break from pro wrestling and figure out the direction of his career moving forward.

The first session of Lucha Underground has just ended and it has made a big impact on the way pro wrestling is presented backstage. In all of Pro Wrestling 50 year’s History the backstage segments are taken in Documentary style, in which the cameraman is just happen to pass by and took a great shoot like a journalist. But Lucha Underground took a Cinematic Approach and shoot it with multiple Cameras, sound effects and editing they shoot it like a film. Although there plot was over heavy and the made some mistake along the way but it did made everybody wonder Why haven’t anybody tried it yet. Now many promotion are taking this approach.

Jeff Jarrett’s “Global Force Wrestling” has started Tapping and he has some very new and Unique talent to Show.

We all are familiar With the Wrestling Legend and now promoter Jeff Jarrett. We all saw him Investing a lot in the Indian Wrestling show “Ring ka King“. Now he has started a new wrestling promotion Named Global Force Wrestling and after a long wait he has finally started TV Taping. Although the number of episodes are still uncertain its seems the have a TV deal at last. Jarrett has started Four tournaments at the start and one of them is The Nex-Gen Division. He says that there are a lot of Wrestler in 2015 who wrestle like Next Generation and will be a household in the future even if they are not right now. The tv taping will be PG but will be different from WWE it will have story-lines bit will be more like a documentary style. The already have videos out for guys like Mordetzky, the Akbars, the Bollywood Boys, and PJ Black.
