We reported earlier today that WWE has hired on longtime Impact Wrestling employee Jeremy Borash to be a part of the company. At the time of press, we were unable to confirm his exact role with the company but we can now tell you that he will be working for the NXT brand. It was also Triple H’s decision to bring him on.

While there is no official word on when he will start with the company, NXT will be taping television in Atlanta, GA this week so it’s possible he could start at that time. We are unable to confirm at this time if he will have an on-screen role, but we will keep you updated if we hear anything.

Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Phoenix Marie.

Ryback opens today’s show speaking about his thoughts on former WWE talent, Boogeyman. He says that he and Boogeyman were very close and developed a tremendous friendship from their time beginning together in Tough Enough. He adds that Boogeyman was always in tremendous shape and hasn’t aged a bit even to this day.

Ryback informs that Boogeyman actually lied about his age when he started in the wrestling business because he was 40 at the time, but he claimed to be 30. He looked so good that nobody questioned him. He adds that Boogeyman was a tremendous ‘attraction’ for WWE, and he played that role absolutely perfectly.

Ryback comments on Kalisto being struck in the face with a water bottle after his match on RAW last week. He was very disturbed when viewing this footage, and he felt terrible for Kalisto. He points out that after you finish a match you lie on the mat and you’re relieved because your job is done for the night. The last thing you expect is to get hit in the face by something that was thrown by a fan.

He believes that police have the fan in custody and he believes the fan should spend an extended period of time in jail so he/she can think about how stupid their actions were last Monday night. Ryback believes that fans are entitled to cheering and having fun at WWE events, but the minute they jump the barrier or become involved in the action like this they should be susceptible to severe consequences.

Welcome to the merriest episode of Monday Night Raw ever! And we hope you’re having a great Christmas!

Tonight’s festive Raw will feature the return of the 16-time WWE World Champion, John Cena. It’s unclear if Cena is back for an extended period of time, or if this is a simple one-off appearance, but either way it ill be fun to see Cena back in a Raw ring.

The Royal Rumble is less than a month away and last week we got the historic announcement that there would be a women’s Rumble match in 2018! Now that we’ve got the two matches set, it’s time to start getting entrants. Personally I think entering a Rumble should be earned and something fought for, not just assumed. Like qualifying matches etc., whereas there’s little build-up because we all know Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Bray Wyatt will be there. Regardless, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cena announce his appearance in the upcoming Rumble match, which he’s currently a favourite to win.

Elsewhere on tonight’s Raw, The Bar battle Rollins and Ambrose for momentum, again, and Braun Strowman continues to butt-heads with Kane ahead of their huge match with Brock Lesnar. While speaking to the New York Post, Kane talked about his WWE Universal Title match at next month’s Royal Rumble event and mentioned that it could be his last appearance at the event.

“I have to take advantage of everyone that comes along. This might be the last one. I don’t know. I certainly think the match at Royal Rumble is going to be special for me.”

Kane continued, “I’ve been in WWE for 22 years and that’s a long time and I still think I perform at a high level,” he said. “But nevertheless, it’s a long time and I know I don’t have many opportunities like this left.”

WWE announced that the first hour of RAW and Smackdown Live next week will be airing commercial-free. Here is the announcement:

STAMFORD, Conn., December 21, 2017 – Celebrate the holidays with WWE as USA Network airs the first hour of both Monday Night Raw® and SmackDown Live® commercial-free this Monday, December 25 at 8/7c and Tuesday, December 26 at 8/7c. This also marks the first time that USA Network will air Raw live on Christmas.

Raw and SmackDown Live are the #1 and #2 longest running weekly episodic programs in U.S. primetime TV history and two of the most-watched, regularly scheduled programs on cable, airing live every Monday and Tuesday nights on USA.

Averaging more viewers than any cable network in primetime, WWE programming is among the most socially active shows on TV, trending on Twitter 52 weeks per year. The 25th anniversary of Raw will emanate from Barclays Center and Manhattan Center in New York City on Monday, January 22, 2018, and air live on USA Network at 8/7c. Triple H defeated Jinder Mahal when the company toured India last week. Triple H discussed his victory over Mahal with NBC Sports and indicated that he was more over in the country which is why he went over in the match.

“I often think it’s funny to me that people in America, who have never been to India, put their thoughts and their beliefs onto other people, ‘like clearly that’s the truth.’ (Laughs). It’s totally different there!” Triple H said. “The way they see things and react to things is very different. There are certain guys that once they reach a level there, it’s a whole different ballgame; Undertaker, [John] Cena. It’s just a different level of stardom.

“When we were over there a few months ago having business meetings, to hear the people who are running television studios or Internet companies say to me ‘I watched you when I was a teenager. You were like the biggest guy in the world.’ I met a massive Bollywood star the other day who told me that I was his entire childhood. He got suspended from school for telling someone to ‘suck it.’ At a time in ’96 when there were like three channels there, we were on one of them all of the time.

“It’s not to say Jinder wasn’t ‘over’ there. He was! You have to understand the market. It’s not like everyone just went, ‘Oh my God he’s Indian! He looks like us so we love him.’ They are a savvy market. They understand that he’s [playing] a bad guy [on television]. Even though he got a massive reaction, he still needs to earn their respect. He’s still growing and still new. You know what I mean?”

Triple H also mentioned that Mahal will emerge from the match a bigger star.

“Just even being on this tour will help him. The reaction he got at the beginning of the night was much different than the reaction he got at the end of the night. It just grew. Their appreciation of him grew. It was all handled in the right way and done in the right manner. Over time he’s going to grow and become a cultural icon for them.”

We reported earlier today that Luke Harper left the SmackDown tour this week but at the time of press there was no explanation as to why.

PWInsider reports that the reason Harper left the tour early after Thursday’s WWE Live Event in Lima, Peru was due to his wife going into early labor and giving birth to their son.

Harper is currently scheduled for the television tapings this week, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was given additional time off to spend with his family.

While participating in Impact Wrestling’s conference call this week, Alberto El Patron was asked about his ex-girlfriend’s return to WWE programming and said that she’s doing a fantastic job.

“It’s fantastic, it was just about time. I used to say this all the time, people forget that she had neck surgery, screws behind her neck,” El Patron said. “That’s the reason why she was out of the business and it takes time to recover from something like that and then she started working really hard for her big comeback, and now she’s there. She’s doing what she has been doing since the beginning of her career in WWE. She’s killing it, she’s doing a fantastic job. I said it before and I’ll say it again, she has all the potential to be the most successful Diva of all time. We have to give her time.”

As previously reported, Paige revealed a few weeks back that she is single but didn’t elaborate when exactly the split took place.

Following his WWE Championship Title victory over Jinder Mahal on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, WWE caught up with AJ Styles and asked him what’s going through his head.

“I’m a two time WWE Champion, that’s all I can think about,” said Styles. “Those people and how much they cared what was happening in that match based on the guy that they love. I don’t think it’s because of what everyone thinks it is. I think it’s because I am one of them. I’m not the strongest. I’m not the biggest. I’m the guy that would do anything and everything to bring their child to an event like this. Scrape up the money, so that their kid could have a great time. I’m one of them. The only difference is, when I step into a WWE ring, there ain’t no body like me.”

When asked about about the WWE Championship changing hands for the first time overseas and the WWE Championship changing time for the first time in nearly 15 years on SmackDown, Styles responded, “Well, I have a question for you. Who was the last man, to do that 15 years ago?”

The interviewer responded, “Brock Lesnar.”

“Brock and I, we have a lot of similarities, don’t we?,” said Styles. “Only once huge difference. I’m the SmackDown champion and he’s not. “
