Taz is joined on today’s show by his co-host, Seth.

Taz opens today’s show by informing that he’ll be doing a live 3-hour special immediately after the Royal Rumble this Sunday.

Taz says he’s not completely against the idea of Stephanie McMahon joining the commentary team for the Women’s Royal Rumble match. He admits that he’d rather have a different person in that role, but as long as Stephanie doesn’t try to do play-by-play or a colour commentary, he’s okay with it. He thinks she needs to simply be an ambassador of sorts at the commentary desk.

Seth points out that Ronda Rousey is actually the betting favourite to win the Women’s Rumble match right now. Taz thinks some of the higher-ups in WWE actually leak this type of information on purpose in order to generate buzz and anticipation. If Rousey is involved, he doesn’t think WWE is going to put her in there to lose, so he picks Rousey to win this match.

Taz doesn’t think that Stephanie McMahon should be a guest entrant into the Rumble match. He jokes that it’s already bad enough that her husband, Triple H involves himself in every cool angle; she doesn’t need to do the same.

Taz opens today’s show by speaking about Jason Jordan’s performance on this week’s RAW. He has been very critical of the entire Jordan/Angle storyline, and he’s been harping on WWE for not turning Jordan heel over the last couple of months.

However, while watching RAW this past week Taz thought Jordan’s promo work and facial expressions were great. Jordan’s portraying a whiny daddy’s boy right now, but he can still kick you ass in the ring so that makes for an interesting dynamic. Taz also thinks there’s great chemistry between Jordan and Seth Rollins, so he’s interested in seeing where that pairing heads in the future.

Taz was very impressed by Samoa Joe’s promo work on RAW this week. He points out that the inflection and tone of Joe’s words are things that Joe controls on his own, and he’s very good at it. Taz thinks Joe is one of the top guys in the company right now on the mic.

Taz recalls people within TNA years ago arguing over which of their stars would be able to succeed in WWE. There was always concern with A.J. Styles’ Southern accent, as well as Samoa Joe’s body type. As it turns out, none of that stuff matters and both of those competitors have seen great success in WWE thus far.

Taz says he’s very happy for Braun Strowman, but he really felt bad for Rhyno and Heath Slater this past week on RAW. They’re both good guys and he wants to see them succeed, so he hopes WWE eventually comes up with a good angle for them, where they can work with each other and make something positive come out of this pairing.

Taz opens today’s show by saying that he thinks WWE is mishandling Nakamura right now. Nakamura and Asuka are special in Taz’s opinion and while Asuka is being treated the right way by WWE, Nakamura is not. He knows that the laugauge barrier probably a problem for Vince McMahon, but with some creative writing that wouldn’t be an issue.

Taz points out that Nakamura had a good run when he first debuted on the main roster, but now he’s losing clean on Smackdown Live to Kevin Owens and being booked in tag matches on PPVs. He adds that there’s no shame in losing to Owens or tagging with Randy Orton for that matter, but sometime losing clean on television can hurt you, and this is one of those times in Taz’s opinion.

He liked the A.J. Styles/Singh Brothers segment last night, even though some of the lines in the Singh Brother’s promo came off lame and corny. Taz was happy that WWE at least handled their Champion well here, having Styles get the better of the Singh Brothers before standing tall to end the segment.

Taz mentions that Colin Delaney made his return to Smackdown after a decade’s absence last night, losing a tag team match to the Bludgeon Brothers. Taz says that Delaney is a nice kid and it was cool to see him back on Smackdown all these years later, even if it was just for a one-off appearance like Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported.

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show speaking about the commentary at last night’s Survivor Series PPV. He says that it was very tough to follow the 5-man booth, and Booker T came off as most credible out of all the commentators because he was pro-Raw through and through. Michael Cole and Corey Graves seemed to swing back and forth between supporting RAW and Smackdown Live.

In regards to Corey Graves seemingly attacking Booker T from time to time, Taz is sure that Graves wasn’t going into business for himself when he said those lines. All those shots at Booker T were definitely produced for him in Taz’s opinion. He adds that he loves Graves’ work, but Graves shouldn’t have even been on the broadcast last night given that he works on both shows.

Taz says that Graves and Cole teaming up on Booker T is actually starting to annoy him because Booker T is a former World Champion who accomplished a lot in the business. He doesn’t understand why WWE’s producers are dead set on burying Booker T.

He thought The Shield and The New Day had a good match, but he doesn’t understand why WWE bothered implementing any rules during this bout. The 6 men were going toe to toe for the majority of the match, and tags were often of little importance. He points out that Jey Uso’s flying tag to his brother was a spectacular spot.

Block 1:

A listener calls into the show and asks Taz how WWE plans to keep all their Champions strong when they have multiple Champion versus Champion matches at Survivor Series, and someone has to lose each of these matches. Taz agrees with the caller in the sense that WWE has their hands full when it comes to booking this card.

He points out that we rarely see Champion versus Champion matches on WWE programming or in any other wrestling promotion, because those matches are very tough to book and even tougher to execute. WWE is going to have to come up with a way to beat half of their Champions on Sunday night, without hurting any of them.

Getting into his thoughts on last night’s episode of Smackdown Live, Taz thought the show was good overall, and it was a strong way to lead us into Survivor Series on Sunday night. The moment that sticks out to him from the show was Charlotte capturing the Women’s Title in her hometown of Charlotte and then embracing her father, Ric, at the top of the entrance ramp.

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show by questioning several of WWE’s booking decisions from last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW. Jason Jordan was removed from the 5 0n 5 traditional Survivor Series match in favour of the returning Triple H, but Taz would have preferred to see Jordan remain in that match and turn heel at Survivor Series.

He also points out that Bray Wyatt returned to RAW last night to face Jason Jordan, and Taz feels Wyatt would have been a suitable replacement for Jordan if WWE was determined to pull Jordan from this match. Another suitable replacement would have been Elias in his opinion. Ultimately, Triple H is a huge star who definitely makes the Survivor Series match feel bigger.

Taz doesn’t understand why WWE continues to stifle Kurt Angle on their programming. Angle is a legitimate bad ass who was made to look like a weakling from the start of last night’s show to the finish, and this has happened several weeks in a row now. Taz points out that maybe WWE is heading towards Angle vs. Triple H at WrestleMania but he isn’t a fan of that idea because both of those men are in the twilight of their careers.

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show by diving right into his analysis of last night’s TLC PPV. He says that he wasn’t overly fond of his show, even though all the talents worked hard.

He says he would have preferred if Kurt Angle would have respectfully denied the vest when Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose offered it to him. Taz would have liked if Angle would have said something like, “Thanks, but I think I’ll wear this on my chest instead”, as he pulled out his gold medals. Taz thinks a huge part of Angle’s return is seeing Angle in all his glory, with his own theme music and wearing his singlet.

Taz thought that Elias and Jason Jordan were put in a rough spot last night, working in between Styles/Balor and the TLC main event. He thought Elias’ initial segment was repeated later in the show because McMahon was so mad at how bad it was the first time. After watching it unfold exactly the same the second time around Taz realized that his opinion was wrong in that case.

He also believes that the finish to the Elias/Jordan match was botched. He says that while WWE sometimes books controversial finishes, this finish didn’t look that way to him. If it was supposed to be a controversial finish, Elias kicked out way too early prior to the 3-count.

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show speaking about last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW.

He says it was great to see Kane return to WWE programming last night. He was shocked to see Kane crawl through the ring mat to interfere in the main event match, especially when he thought that Samoa Joe would be the fifth member of ‘Team Miz’ at TLC match. Nonetheless, Kane will add intrigue to this match and he concludes by saying that Glenn Jacobs is a ‘quality guy’.

Taz wishes that WWE would stop normalizing Braun Strowman. If Strowman is supposed to be the ‘Monster Amongst Men’, he should never be in the ring cutting a standard promo with three or four other talents. Taz says that maybe he’s old school, but seeing Strowman standing there with a mic just feels very odd, and it goes against everything else that WWE is telling us about this character.

He goes on to say that The Shield vs. Team Miz at TLC is singularly about getting The Shield over. It’s now a 3 vs. 5 match and Taz has no idea how they’re gonna book this match effectively, but he’s still sure that The Shield will find a way to beat the odds and emerge victorious. Complicating matters is the fact that WWE creative now has to find a way to creatively beat Team Miz while protecting two monsters (Kane and Strowman).

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show speaking about the rumours that Neville has asked for his release from WWE. He says he has no idea what went on behind the scenes, but we’ve seen this story play out before with Austin Aries. He believes there’s a huge issue with pigeonholing talents in the Cruiserweight division, because once you’ve reached the pinnacle of that division there’s really nothing else for the talents to do.

Taz gets into his analysis of last night’s episode of Smackdown Live. He thought WWE put on a pretty good show last night which touched on all the main programs, and had several good video packages as well.

He says he was happy to see Luke Harper and Erick Rowan return to WWE television last night, but he wasn’t overly impressed with the way their backstage promo was shot. He thought that this video, which featured mallets and other weaponry, was somewhat hokey for 2017 and this is the creative team’s fault, not the talents’ fault.

Taz was very impressed by the promos cut by both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn last night. He particularly enjoyed the mic work of Zayn, who clearly explained why he saved his former rival at Hell in A Cell. He admits that towards the end of the promo Zayn and Owens started to remind him of Jericho and Owens from several months ago, and he believes that this is something that WWE and Owens need to be careful with.

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show speaking about last night’s Hell In A Cell PPV.

Taz says he really loved last night’s PPV, and he gives it a 9/10 rating. The final match of the night between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon was fantastic, and WWE swerved everyone with Sami Zayn’s heel turn at the end of the show. Taz never saw that coming at all, and he thinks it’s a credit to WWE when they can surprise their audience in this day and age with all the online spoilers.

He points out that this is a big opportunity for Sami Zayn, and he now has the spotlight firmly placed on him on Smackdown Live. Taz thinks Zayn deserves this spot, and he praises Zayn for the timing of his run-in last night. He says it’s no easy task to pull someone from an announce table when someone is plummeting towards you from the sky, 20 feet above.

He continues to speak about the main event match, saying that he loved Kevin Owens standing over the edge of the cage, searching for the courage to jump. Taz admits that WWE would have to pay him a lot of money to jump from that cage. In addition, by booking Owens to appear nervous while looking down from the cage, WWE gives even more legitimacy to Shane McMahon’s bravery.

Taz says that there was really no series of events in which McMahon would emerge victorious here. Kevin Owens is the future right now and Shane McMahon is a 47-year old who wrestles part-time. This was a must-win for Owens, and WWE did the right thing by putting him over while also protecting McMahon by having Zayn interfere.
