Russo opens today’s show by informing that he’s going to be a Grandfather for the first time. He’s very excited about this news and he thanks all of his fans for sending him so many kind messages on social media. He points out that news like this really helps you put life in perspective.

Russo mentions that a lot of his fans accused him of “working” them over the last couple of weeks as he refused to speak about RAW25. These fans assumed that Russo was invited to attend the event all along and he was refusing to speak about it in order to keep it a secret. That way, when he arrived at RAW25 it would be a huge surprise.

He says that this was never the case, and there were never any conversations between him and WWE about returning to the company for the one-night-only event. He points out that he hates to leave his house to travel these days, but a part of him really hoped that WWE would do the right thing in this case by extending an invitation to him and Ferrara.

Russo says that whether you like it or not, there would have been no attitude era without him and Ed Ferrara. He knows that Superstars such as Steve Austin and The Rock played a huge part in WWE’s success at that time as well, but the fact that he and Ferrara were the ones writing the lines for those stars made them an invaluable part of the company at that time in his opinion.

While answering questions in a new Q&A video, Ric Flair was asked about which current WWE Superstars he’d like to work with if he had one last match in WWE. Ric Flair named off Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, but revealed he’d have to be at a much younger age.

“Well, I’ve never wrestled John Cena in a single match, but if I could have one more match, and I could be say 35 again, I would love to work with Roman Reigns. Yeah Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns. I never got to work with Seth Rollins or Dean Ambrose. If I was 35 years old I’d love to work with one of those guys. Even 45, 55.”

PWInsider reports that when the idea was pitched for a Women’s Royal Rumble match for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view back in November, there was only supposed to be 15 women involved.

With the amount of positive feedback from several women of the past, future and present, it is very likely that more than 15 WWE Superstars will be involved in next month’s show.

WWE announced that Bray Wyatt vs. Matt Hardy has been added to next month’s WWE 205 Live Events.

According to PWInsider, they may have added this match to help boost ticket sales for the events on Friday 1/19/18 at the Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island, Saturday 1/20/18 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, MA and Sunday 1/21/18 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.

As previously noted, the shows will feature Kalisto challenging Enzo Amore for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship with Nia Jax as the guest referee. Superstars advertised for the shows include Hideo Itam, Cedric Alexander, Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, The Brian Kendrick, Jack Gallagher and more.

It looks like Brock Lesnar may not be appearing at February’s RAW-brand Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. The website for the T-Mobile Arena lists multiple stars from RAW but not Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

“Fans will have the opportunity to see WWE Raw Superstars battle inside 10 tons of unforgiving steel. Head to the Las Vegas Strip to see Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, The Miz and many more fan favorite WWE Superstars.”

With the pay-per-view event been several months away, he could still be added to the event. However, it seems very odd that he wouldn’t be listed, as his name would help push ticket sales.

According to PWInsider, WWE has been contacting former Superstars and personalities to film video messages for the upcoming RAW 25th Anniversary show. The company expects to either use these during the live broadcast or use them for promotional material for the event.

As previously noted, WWE is considering this show a “all-hands-on-deck” show, and they are bringing in many names for the show. The Undertaker is one of the big names being advertised for the January 22nd event, which will be simulcasted from The Manhattan Center and The Barclays Center in New York City.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest installment of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AJ Styles’ current deal with WWE is slated to expire early 2019.

It’s worth noting that Styles hinted in a recent interview that he may be retiring in a “couple of years.” Meltzer suggests that it’s very rare that WWE Superstars in a prime spot in the company just walk away, especially when the money is good. It’s very possible that WWE could offer him a lighter work schedule if that is something Styles is interested in when that time comes around.

Ryback opens today’s show speaking about WWE Superstars exposing the business, and WWE embracing it through shows like Total Divas. He says that the wrestling business has been exposed now and everyone knows it’s fake, but there’s no need for the Superstars to drive it down our throats by posting pictures with their ‘enemies’ on social media. It’s no secret that wrestling is for kids, but there’s no point in sacrificing more mature audiences by blatantly ignoring television storylines.

He points out that good characters and good stories will make people look past the fact that the wrestling is fake, but WWE has failed to provide either as of late. He doesn’t think shows like Total Divas are doing the business any favours, because that show goes into detail about everything happening behind the scenes at WWE.

Ryback talks about the process of memorizing promos in WWE. He recalls getting the script for one of his promos during his feud with John Cena very late in the day, but he was still able to memorize it pretty accurately. When he got to the building that evening, Vince McMahon had torn the script up and the writers were in the middle of re-writing his promo.

He was set to open the show that night and received the new script right before the show went on air. He hit the bullet points of the promo as best he could because it was impossible to recite the promo word for word with so little time before the show began. He delivered the promo and McMahon was fine with it.

Charlotte Flair has penned a letter to her father on the Players Tribune. Here is an excerpt:

“Dear Dad,

It’s that moment when you appear from behind the curtain.

Every single night, before I perform, I think about what you told me. That the single most important part of any match is when you walk out onto the stage — and the crowd sees you for the first time.

“Whether it’s 50 people in an auditorium or 100,000 in a stadium,” you said. “The instant they see you, they can tell right away whether or not you really believe in yourself.”

I remember my first match, standing in the dark, listening to my heart racing. I knew the crowd was just waiting — not waiting for me, but waiting to judge the next person they saw emerge onto the stage. I knew my peers were watching on the monitor just a few feet away. I felt the walls closing in. I could barely breathe. It was like I had forgotten everything I had learned about wrestling up to that point.

People were going to think I was a fraud — that I was just trying to piggyback a career off of your name. I wasn’t Charlotte Flair yet. I was still just Ric Flair’s daughter. I feared the worst.

I mean, how could I really be prepared? How could anyone live up to the legacy of Ric Flair? The Nature Boy! The limousine-ridin’, jet-flyin’, etc. etc. — Ric Flair! One of the most decorated superstars in the history of sports entertainment. It was an impossible expectation to live up to.

In that moment, I actually feared that I wasn’t made for WWE. Quitting wasn’t an option … but how was I going to commit 100 percent when I was afraid of my own shadow?

I was nervous about the fans in the crowd. I was nervous about the Superstars in the back. But most of all, I was nervous about one very specific thought.

I couldn’t bear the thought of disappointing you.”
