Ring of Honor announced that Dalton Castle will challenge ROH Champion Cody at the December 15th ROH Final Battle event. Here is the announcement:

MAIN EVENT: ROH WORLD CHAMPION “THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE” CODY vs. DALTON CASTLE

“The American Nightmare” captured the ROH World Championship from Christopher Daniels at Best in the World. Since then, Cody has maintained an open challenge for his championship, defending it against everyone from Cheeseburger to KUSHIDA, Minoru Suzuki, and more. Cody was accepting all challengers, and announced he believed that he defeated everyone following a victory over Sanada at War of the Worlds: Liverpool before being confronted by Dalton Castle!

Castle went nose to nose with the champ and it looked like the two would go at it right then and there! But Cody rolled out of the ring and fans would have to wait.

They would wait for a few months. The next night, Cody sneak attacked Castle, injuring Castle’s shoulder in the process, while yelling at Castle that he did not deserve a title shot. Fast forward two months later to Global Wars: Chicago, the last night of the most financially-lucrative tour in ROH history. Cody had made a habit of taking selfies with fans after his victories on the tour and decided to address the crowd and take selfies before the match. Cody selected what appeared to be a fan with an American flag ski mask to take a photo with him.

By the time Cody had his phone ready, he was accidentally taking a video instead. And that video revealed what all the fans in Chicago and those watching on IPPV saw even clearer—the fan was Dalton Castle and he was there to get revenge!

In Philadelphia, Cody promised to take on “the man everyone wanted to see him face”. With the crowd chanting for Castle at a fever pitch, Cody instead brought out ROH Dojo graduate Ryan Nova. Cody picked up the victory in short order before Castle confronted him once more.

With the challenge officially issued, Cody’s management team has come to terms with Castle, and the ROH World Championship will be on the line in the Big Apple! For Castle, this match is not only an opportunity to reach the pinnacle of professional wrestling but also to shove every word back down the champion’s throat. Cody, just over one year after his ROH debut, has an opportunity to walk into ROH’s premier event as World Champion defeating a man who he looks down on, a man he calls only a gimmick, a man who he doesn’t truly believe is a championship-caliber wrestler.

If Cody successfully defends his championship from now until Final Battle, with at least one defense scheduled against Rocky Romero in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at ROH Elite, it will be Cody versus Dalton Castle at Final Battle with not only a grudge to be settled but also the ROH World Championship on the line! Who will leave the City That Never Sleeps ROH World Champion? Join us to find out!

Every year, Final Battle is the biggest event on the Ring of Honor calendar! Following the fastest sellout in Final Battle history, the only way you can see Final Battle LIVE is by joining ROH on Pay Per View, available on all major Pay Per View providers, ROHWrestling.com, Fite.TV, and Playstation Network on Friday December 15 at 9 PM EST!

Your hosts are Ian Riccaboni and Colt Cabana.

Hiromu Takahashi vs Mark Briscoe

Takahashi is accompanied to the ring by…Daryl. No, not the Walking Dead guy, his stuffed cat toy. Japanese wrestlers have some of the most interesting personas. Takahashi drops Daryl off with the announcers, then the bell rings and we’re off. They just get started and Mark takes a bad bump and pops his elbow WAY out, and you can see it hanging at a nasty angle, and the referee has no choice but to call for the bell.

Winner by injury default: Hiromu Takahashi

Both men are clearly unhappy with what happened, and Mark is hurried to the back to be attended to. Well, it’s a physical business and things happen.

Both men are clearly unhappy with what happened, and Mark is hurried to the back to be attended to. Well, it’s a physical business and things happen.

The Addiction vs The Best Friends

The Addiction comes out in their street clothes and say they’re not dressed to wrestle, and they say that the Best Friends may be best friends, but they’re best friends too, and last time they were here, the fans thought Kazarian turned on his best friend to join the Bullet Club. The fans don’t care about best friends, they just care about drinking, throwing streamers, and doing stupid chants to get themselves over. The fans don’t deserve to see them wrestle, and they tease leaving, tease that they’re going to come back, then leave anyway. Instead, out comes Rhett Titus and Will Ferrara and introduce themselves as the Dawgs. They rag on the Steelers and apparently are going to take the Addiction’s place, so…

The Dawgs vs Best Friends

They get off to a quick start, and the Best Friends get off to an early advantage and trap Ferrara in their half of the ring. They take turns hitting standing moonsaults on Ferrara, Titus blind tags in and suckerpunches Trent, then catapults Ferrara into Trent and puts the boots to him. Now Trent is caught in the wrong part of town, and the Dawgs are spending as much time bickering with each other as they do beating Trent up, thuogh their shoving matches tend to feed into double team moves. Very clever! The Dawgs hug it out…and then Titus tries to give Ferrara a flapjack on top of Trent, but Trent gets the knees up. Shoving match between the Dawgs allows Trent to hit a tornado DDT and…miss the hot tag when Ferrara pulls Chuck off the apron. Ferrara comes in and hits the BLL, Dawgs hit a double punt to Trent’s face, and then the Dawgs hit the One Eyed Wonder Worm (or whatever it was Jacobs and Whitmer called their finish). Chuck comes in to break up the pinfall at 2, and Ferrara tries to grab a chain and nail the Best Friends with it, but Cheeseburger comes out of nowhere to grab the chain and lay Ferrara out with it, and the Best Friends hit a rolling piledriver/Dudebuster combo on Titus for the win.

Winners: Best Friends

The Best Friends try to walk out on Cheeseburger, but the fans implore them to be his friend, so the three of them share a big group hug and raise Cheeseburger’s hand to the delight of the streamer-throwing alcoholics in the crowd.

Jay White vs Jay Lethal

As seen on tonight’s episode of RAW, Big Cass’ Brooklyn Street Fight match against Enzo Amore came to a sudden stop when Cass appeared to have suffered an injury when he went for a kick over the top rope.

WWE reports that Cass suffered a knee injury but it’s unknown of the seriousness of the injury until he has an MRI done. The MRI is scheduled for tomorrow.

“It’s hard to tell what the extent of the injury is, but we’re going to send him to get an MRI tomorrow and figure that out,” said WWE’s ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson.

Here is footage of the incident:

We start off and Brian Kendrick talks about Akira Tozawa. He mentions how Tozawa made a name for himself in Japan over the last ten years. He still has a lot to learn to be a success in the US. He wanted Tozawa to be his student but Tozawa said no. Tozawa disrespected him so he had to teach Tozawa a lesson. He taught him lesson after lesson until Tozawa thought he could teach him a lesson. There is only one thing to do and that is to settle things in the ring. When he was ready to put him away but he would not go away. Brian says he is the man with the plan and the master. He is here to teach Tozawa one more lesson. Was what he did to Tozawa the right thing? Now he cannot think of a better way to end this than to have a street fight. He will teach Tozawa the final lesson.

We are in Toledo, Ohio and your announcers are Tom Phillips and Corey Graves.

Tom and Corey talk about the Street Fight and Corey says Kendrick has the advantage.

Rich Swann versus Ariya Daivari

Daivari yells at Swann about his shirt from last week and Daivari pushes Swann but Swann with a drop kick. Daivari goes to the floor and Swann with a baseball slide. They return to the ring and Daivari begs for mercy. Swann avoids going into the turnbuckles. Swann flips over Daivari and hits a drop kick that sends Daivari to the floor. Swann goes for a pescado but Daivari moves. Swann is sent shoulder first into the apron.

They return to teh ring and Daivari works on the shoulder. Daivari with a snap mare and knee drop to the injured arm. Daivari with a top wrist lock. Swann with a forearm but Daivari with a Harley Race knee for a near fall. Daivari with a forearm to the back and he puts the arm over the top rope and drops it on the rope. Daivari with an Irish whip but he runs into a boot and Daivari with a double knee arm breaker for a near fall. Daivari with a Cobra Clutch. Daivari with a neck breaker for a near fall.

Swann with a forearm and Daivari with a punch that is blocked by Swann. Swann with punches and a clothesline followed by a kick to the midsection and a flip leg drop to the back of the head. Swann with a back heel kick for a near fall. Swann goes up top and hits the Phoenix Splash for the three count.

Winner: Rich Swann

After the match, Noam Dar pushes Swann off the turnbuckles while he celebrates his victory.

We see Brian Kendrick getting ready for his match against Akira Tozawa.

We go to commercial.

We are back with a look at the feud between Austin Aries and Neville.

Neville is appearing via satellite and so is Austin Aries in similarly designed rooms. Corey mentions that they will be in a Submission Match and he asks about how this will be the biggest challenge for Neville. Neville says this is an asinine question. From the second he set foot in this division, he has beaten everyone, including the great Austin Aries . . . twice. He wants to know who Corey has been talking to.

Austin says if you want to talk about pretenders. You said you defeated him twice. Austin says that he beat Neville the last time they were in the ring.

Neville tells Austin to calm down. He says Austin has had multiple opportunities to take his crown and satisfy your foolish ambition.

Austin says he has earned this opportunity. He mentions that Neville put his finger in his eye to help him win at Wrestlemania. At Payback, he has him locked in the Last Chancery again and you grabbed the referee to get intentionally disqualified.

Neville says this is slander.

Aries says this is not slander beacuse this is the truth. Do you think you are the first person to put roadblocks in front of him? Are you the first person to try to knock him down? Are the you the first person to get someone to do his dirty work to stop him? This is nothing new to him. Everyone knows that you have been scraping by by the skin of your teeth and you cannot do it a third time. He will take his hobbled leg and he will take his anger from these missed opportunity and he will inflict pain on you. Austin says he has a catalog of submission holds and he will finish off Neville with the Last Chancery and he will make Neville tap out.

Neville says that Aries is hoping his knee will regain its strength. Whatever you want to tell yourself, you are not ready to step into the ring with the King of the Cruiserweights. Neville tells Aries to walk away now because he will not be held responsible for what happens at Extreme Rules.

We go to commercial.

Cedric Alexander versus Johnny Moon

Alexander blocks a kick and he hits a back elbow. Moon goes to the floor and Alexander follows and he punches Moon. They return to the ring and Alexander with a springboard clothesline. Alexander hits the Lumbar Check for the three count.

Winner: Cedric Alexander

We take a look at Drew Gulak’s campaign against flying on 205 Live. We see Gulak’s attack on Mustafa Ali last week.

Drew Gulak has a statement. He says he believes in a better 205 Live. He represents the traditions laid down by the greatest superstars, the cruiserweights. He does not think of showboats, people who take advantage of what they do in the ring for a little applause. Mustafa Ali is what he is campaigning against. If he wanted to see that, he would go to Cirque du Soleil.

Akira Tozawa walks in the back as we go to commercial.

Brian Kendrick versus Akira Tozawa in a Street Fight

The bell rings and Kendrick goes under the ring but Tozawa with a suicide dive head butt. Tozawa is sent into the announce table by Kendrick. Tozawa hip tosses Kendrick onto and over the announce table. Tozawa sends Kendrick back into the ring and he gets a near fall. Tozawa with a snap mare and kick to the chest followed by a back senton for a near fall. Tozawa with a chop and then he connects with more chops. Kendrick with a kick and then he gets Kendrick to flinch so Tozawa with a jab to Kendrick.
